Going to HH for the first time for Easter week. What are your favorite restaurants? 2 families, 7 kids (11-3)

There is a great indoor/outdoor Mexican Restaurant right in Shelter Cove Harbor, across the marina from Disney's HH Resort- I think it's called San Miguels?? Excellent food and a lot of fun. We've also eaten at Fitzgeralds which is a family restaurant not far from the resort, kind of old fashioned but good service and not overly expensive. We also love the Outback Steakhouse on HH Island, it has a little putt putt area outside while you wait for your table, kids loved that!

My hubby and son really like Sticky Fingers for barbeque. Also we really like the Italian resturant located on the west end of the Shelter Cove Mall shopping center- but I can't remember the name at this moment.

That's it. The name of the Italian resturant is Giuseppe's

Our first evening, we always go to Giuseppe's or San Miguel's. Both are very close to the resort, and both are delicious and easy on the wallet. For something a bit more expensive, we love Scott's. It's a seafood restaurant right across the walking bridge that leads to the resort.

Here's quick food review link we've used.

I'll second Guiseppe's for the convience and price. We also do take-out with several restaurants that may be too pricey or upscale to eat in for our family of four. Also, early bird specials aren't a bad idea.

Safe travels!

For us, the Old Oyster Factory is a must! They fill up quick and don't take reservations, so get there early!

I'm not sure where the Disney resort is on the Island, but Wild Wings Cafe is one of our favorites. Wild Wings is a chain that started in Charleston, SC - everytime we are in Charleston we stop by for lunch or dinner.

Last time we were in HH there was a really good authentic German resturant, but I cant seem to recall the name.

San Miguels is very good and if you want a truly relaxing experience, go to Sea Pines Plantation and journey to Lands End and the Salty Dog Cafe.

Our favorites are Fuddruckers, Kurama (great early birds), Wild Wing Cafe, Sea Shack - nothing to look at but GREAT seafood.

Here's another vote for the Old Oyster Factory. Outstanding seafood! Although the restaurant has a very large seating capacity, it does fill up early so plan to get there by 4:00 if you can.

Susie

To me, the best is "Private Affair with Chef Gordon". That was our best meal last year. We also like Old Oyester Factory.

personal favorites:

Best breakfast: the fritatta at Signe's

Best lunch: the sandwiches at Harbour Town Bakery, Sea Pines
(they have good coffee here too, as well as wonderful French breakfast pastries)

Some dinner favorites: Truffles Cafe, Sea Pines
Captain's Seafood
Cafe Europa

Make sure you check out the early bird specials in the Restarant Guide.

Just looked at the restaurant review that TW1 posted. La Normandie is reviewed there and I totally agree---it is a wonderful place to eat!!!! We went there last summer during an early bird special; totally worth it. The service is incredible--like being in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Europe. If you like atmosphere and excellent food, check it out.

My personal A list would include many of the above. Wild Wings, Fitzgerald's, Old Oyster Factory, Truffles, Cafe Europa and Giuseppe's. Add to that Alexander's, Old Ft Pub and Redfish for certain. Another place that's been recommended was Sunset Grill. HH diner is close to the resort and a good lunch and breakfast place. There are many discounts and early birds on the island and you can frequently combine the DVC discount and early birds.

Others really like Hudson's, Boathouse II and Cafe at Wexford but we don't have experience. Many also like Crazy Crab and CQ's but we didn't like them. Fitzgerald's was quite a pleasant surprise for steak with good food, reasonable prices and a casual elegance hard to match for a redneck like me.

Just got back from HH late last night. We loved Cafe Europa for lunch-the shrimp in my shrimp salad was huge! And DH loved his She-Crab soup. We also really enjoyed Hudson's for lunch. They had the best hushpuppies and New England clam chowder (and I'm a New Englander). Bruster's serves yummy, huge sundaes. Yes, no one beats Chef Gordon for fine dining!

We love to go to Charley's Crab. They have the freshest seafood. My family goes there at least twice everytime we go. And we go to HH 2 to 3 times a year.

Also try out San Miguels. My DH and I really like it there too.

Could someone tell me more about the Salty Dog? I've seen T-shirts and heard the name, but that's about it. Fun place to be for kids? good food? reasonably priced? Thanks!

It's a bar and restaurant combined, really two in one. There's an outdoor area and a more normal indoor restaurant. The food is pretty good but there are better from my experience. They do have great looking clothing though.

The seafood buffet at the Westin on Friday and Sat. night is awsome.
