I did post this on the restaurant board but it was suggested to put it here on the DVC board because alot of DVC'ers possibly go to HH.

Any suggestions for restaurants in HH --- we are not going until May but we like to try and have some kind of itinerary in advance.

Thank you!

If you really want Fabulous then try a place called Stripes, An American grill. It's just past the circle on the left...It's really terrific food. It's a chef/owner and he's a graduate of Culinary Institute of America and really does spectacular dishes. The portions are generous to say the least. You will not be disappointed. Probably the best Steaks I've ever had, my husband had a lobster pot pie that was beyond fabulous unlike any pot pie you've ever seen and TONS of lobster meat and I once had a pasta dish that on it's own was yummy but then it had 13!!! of the largest best shrimp I've ever been served. I can not say enough good things about this place. I recommend to everybody I know that's going to hilton head and they all agree it's one of the best restaurants they've ever eaten at.

Also tried Santa Fe Cafe, it's almost directly across the hwy from the resort. It's kind of an upscale southwest restaurant. It was really good and I've added it to my Must do list when we return.....

You'll get lots of opinions and there are lots of great places to eat these are just 2 of my favorites.

HH has many wonderful restaurants---I haven't eaten at Stripes yet, but have heard great things and it's on my list of places to try.

One place to go that has never failed us: www.10best.com --put in your city and it gives you the 10 best restaurants for different categories of meals (best lunch, best fancy dinner, etc).

Another thing to know: once you arrive at HH, pick up the extensive restaurant guide--it's free. It has menus and prices, directions and hours, for tons of different places. Most important, it has a listing of Early Bird Specials----there are some fantastic deals out there at great places, definitely worth it to check it out.

DH and I gotta try Stripes! It sounds wonderful! Can someone give me more specific directions to this restaurant? I'm not sure where the circle is. Once we hit DVCHH, we usually stay put or in the general area so I'm not very familar with the island. Would this be a good restaurant for an anniversary dinner? Thanks guys!

I like Steamers at Coligney Plaza. Also, Sunday nights at The HH Brewing Company-go early and ask for a table by the window to watch the ducks and geese. I'll try to think of some more.

Thank you... I think I got alot of good ones here!

Hey, Dizzknee Stealth.... -- Tommy's page?... Is it updated?... I looked at it awhile ago and it looked like info from like 2 years ago... I could be wrong.

Thanks.

In addition to the suggestions thus far, we enjoy Scott's Fishmarket (within walking distance of the resort). Also nice are Cafe Europa, Alexanders, Old Fort Pub and Hudsons.

The BEST dining experience around is right at the resort. Try A Private Affair- offered by Chef Gordon and presented at the Beach House. He will prepare a meal of your choosing for any number of guests. Advance reservations are necessary.

Have a great trip to HH.

I heard about Chef Gordon but I don't know because I have a 4 year old and a 16 month old!... That would have been great if we were all adults or if my kids were older... don't you think?

Also - since we are on the topics of restaurants.... do most people eat breakfast out?... and if so, where to should we go?... or do you think we should do some grocery shopping and have breakfast in the room....

Thanks!

Gordon will welcome children at the meal- we took our granddaughters with us this summer (age 3 and 18 months). They enjoyed mac-n-cheese and Gordon even made a birthday cake for the 3yo.

There is a Piggly-Wiggly grocery about 1/2 mile from the resort. We usually have breakfast in the room- but the snack bar near the pool does have breakfast offerings. (There are also a few local spots for breakfast nearby for those whose cooking allergies act up in the morning! ;) )

We usually do breakfast in the villa. However, we went to the Hilton Head Diner one morning for breakfast. It was within close biking distance of the resort. I had heard many good reviews of it here on the DIS and it was a pretty good breakfast. I did think the place could have been a bit cleaner, but the kids really enjoyed the pancakes and sides and I didn't have to cook - so who could complain.
