Just got home from a week at HH. The resort was great as always. We took 4 teenage boys (17-18yrs) with us and not one complaint. We were in room 2312 overlooking the pool from the hot tub side. Weather was in the 80's with only one major rain shower in the evening. It was busy Memorial weekend but less people the rest of the week. Boys took the Captain Hook deep sea fishing trip. My son caught a giant sea turtle, of course released back into the ocean. One of the other boys caught a black drum fish. It was great eating very mild tasting. Rest of the people on board caught small sharks about 14-20 inches long. There was a special on the bikes rent two for $50 for length of stay and the additional bikes were $10 for length of stay. Had wonderful pizza at Guiseppies. Also had a good steak at Outback. Kingfisher meal a bit of a disappointment for the price. Scott's is better choice. Gift shop next to Scott's is going out of business. Also ate at Aunt Chiladas great fajitas and baked chicken for lunch. Friday several shark sightings at beach so lifeguards were busy keeping people out of the water until each one passed. Boys had dolphins swimming close to them on one of the days at beach. Waves were rather mild even at high tide. The DVC office looked deserted now that all the points are sold. Only member meeting was a wine & snacks which was $15 per member. It was during dinner time so we didn't attend. Staff at main desk couldn't have been more helpfu. Also say the Matrix Reloaded (maybe 12 people in the theater) felt like a private showing. Went back on Friday and saw Italian Job a few more people but still a bargain at $6.00 for evening show. It is $7.50 - $8.00 where we live. I know I'll be wishing I was on the beach tomorrow instead of working, until the next visit home again.

OH! You're making me so lonely for Hilton Head! Your trip sounds wonderful! Glad you had a good time... (We have to wait till Labor Day, and I'm not sure I'm going to make it!)

You should have tried the member gathering. It's one of Chef Gordon's creations and he makes absolutely yummy hors d'oeuvres and the wine is plentiful!

My son has been dying to go one one of the deep sea fishing trips. Glad to hear that your boys liked it. He will have to do it one of these days...

Thanks for the report...

Thanks for the report. We are going to HHI for the 1st time in July so I'm trying to get all the info. Sounds like you all had a great time. My DH is looking forward to fishing, hopefully he'll catch something.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time!!! We are heading down this Saturday and can't wait.

We will have 4 boys (ages 13-14) with us since each DS is taking a friend. We are allowing each to do a "special" activity of their choice. Could you tell me more about the deep sea fishing.....is it through Disney, times, cost, etc....

Thanks!
Karen

Sounds excellent! The shark sightings are making me a little nervous though:eek:

Deep sea fishing is through Captain Hook in Shelter Cove.
Cost was $45 for 5 1/2 hour trip. It left shelter cove at 9:00am
and returned at 2:30 pm. All tackle, bait, fishing license, and cleaning of catch were provided in this price. There are restrooms, food, and drinks that can be purchased on board. You can also take your own cooler on board with beverages & snacks.
The boys said this is definitely a trip they will do again. There is also a night shark fishing trip I believe that left around 5-6pm. Cost was a little less but I can't remember price. Have a wonder ful time.

Me too!! This has always been in the back of my mind when we go in the ocean. I know it's the sharks territory and respect that but it still makes me a bit leary. Last year, a jelly swam close enough to us that we saw it and moved out of the water. I know stings happen alot and the lifeguards are use to dealing with them. I'd just rather not have my kids experience that (okay, okay, I confess, I don't want any of us to experience it;) ).

TENNDVC, do you know if there was an age limit on the fishing?? I know my DH and DS8 would love this, but I'm certain DS3 would want to go too.

There was not an age limit that I saw. Children prices were about $10 less than adults. It might be a bit long for a 3yr old. It takes about 1 1/2 hours just to get out to where the fish are. There were children on board but I did not see any toddlers. The dolphin cruise that Disney offers is great for younger children.
