HH in July/August?

I am a new DVC member, my DH and I signed up on our Disney Honeymoon. We are planning on taking our first vacation with our parents and my 2 brothers to HH this summer. We are hoping to get a 2 bdrm. and a studio near each other. HH is not our home resort, will it be difficult to get ressies for that time of year? What buildings should we request so that the two rooms are not too far away from each other? Any other tips for a HH vacation?

It is possible to get a 2BR and studio in the same building, so just request that they be as close as possible.

Keep in mind that the summer months are the busiest season at the HH resort and the 11 month priority can be very useful during that time. In addition there are only 21 studios (and 21 1BR villas) total at the resort and they do fill quickly. The 2BR villas are not as difficult to find at 7 months.

Many have reported success using the waitlist for HH summer reservations, but you might even want to consider finding a HH owner to make the reservation for you prior to 7 months to increase your chances. You can try the Rent/Trade Board for that.

You may be able to get the 2BR at 7 months, but the studio will be a little more difficult to get at that time of year.

I would call Member Services now and ask if there is any availability for what you want, when you want it, even if you can't book it now. You can continue to call every few weeks until your 7 month window, just to give you an idea of what to expect.

In any case, if both the 2BR and the studio are available, I would recommend booking day-by-day, just to help ensure you get your entire stay.

As far as requesting that the two units be close to each other, you can make that request, but it will definitely be luck of the draw at that time of year. I'm assuming that having them close to one another is more important to you than a specific location. I would concentrate on that request, rather than requesting any specific view. The more requests you make, the lower your chances are of getting them all filled.

Good luck. Hilton Head is a wonderful resort, but it IS small and can be difficult to book at the 7 month mark.

Good advice from all posters. One thing I will add is that IF you can be flexible with your dates, you will have much better luck. Before I added on points at HH, I called during the 7th month time and asked *what* they had available between certain time periods. Once, I told them I would take *anything* any time in June or July. They had 2br units available the last week of July, and I grabbed one. If you can be flexible, it will really help.
