I have finally persuaded my husband that we should try HH on our next trip, so after a week at WDW we plan to drive up for a week at HH......and I have lots of questions for all you HH experts!!!
1) How long will it take to drive from WDW to HH? Is it an easy drive? Potential to get lost?!!! Any nice places to stop on the way?

2) Nice 1 bed room locations?

3) Better weather generally in April or October and which am I most likely to be able to get at the 7 month window?

4) Your top 10 things to see and do at the resort and surrounding area.

5) Any good web sites with more info?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

HHI is wonderful. We stayed in a 1 bedroom last summer. Most 1 bedrooms are in the Live Oak Lodge, a few are not. The resort is compact and well designed so that any location is fine. We enjoyed finding sand dollars and starfish at the beach- we were careful to return them to the water after a short time because they are living creatures.

Restaurants we liked: The Salty Dog, Guiseppi's for pizza, Mellow Mushroom for pizza, HH Diner.

You can borrow float toys for the resort pool from the pool desk.

Good place to pick up a fellow, just kidding-DD17 met a fellow vacationing with his family- he lives 6 miles from our house. They are still dating. Go figure.

We love HH. We have stayed there at least 6 times and we don't yet own there. I want to very badly but are currently unable to afford it. For the very best and most complete info on HH go to Tommy Towery's web page. It's great!

I haven't checked out that website yet, but thanks Twirler girl..
I was wondering thouth how the summer months are-just like summer anywhere else or extra hot and buggy?

I would estimate the drive is about 6 hours. You need to get through fla and then Georgia. HH is at the tip of SC. we usually drive from the north though, so I am not sure of the exit to from the south. It may even be in GA.

I haven't been to HH in a few years, but we always love it there. We have a ressie for Aug, so I am looking forward to it!

Twirler girl -
I'm from Eldersburg, too. Please PM me if you'd like to know whether our paths have crossed.

(I would have PM'd you, but don't see the option.)

It takes us about 6 hrs to get to HH from WDW. It's hot most of the year, the resort is on the marina and the beach house on the ocean so you do have nice breezes. See tommy's web page for directions. "No see ums" - little biting flies are out in the cooler months, mosquitoes at night by the lights in the parking lots are bad and near the marsh lands can be bothersome. Use insect repellent and you'll be fine. I would choose April instead of October due to storms.

Ask for a "Marsh Land veiw" you should be able to see the dolphins from the balconies. Most 1 bedroon units are in the Lodge with a great view of the inlet.

Tommy's web page will cover everything in more detail. If you have more questions, just ask.
