hey...

I guess that I could go to a gym but personally, I also am too un-confident in my body image. So, I went on eBay and bought a pilates DVD(Crunch Workouts is the name)...you can do it in your house and no one will see you. Also, I can't walk around my neighborhood because I don't live in one... I live out in the country. My aunt gave my mom and me a tape called Walk Away the Pounds by Lisa somebody. It's easy and only takes 15 minutes for one mile. As you get better and it gets easier, there are harder ones like 2 miles. I hope this helps and just remember your not the only one.

You should drink water and eat fruits and vegtables
you dont need to excersize like insane but you could go for a walk or swim or something everyday
Carbs are ok but to much anything is bad
DONT STARVE YOURSELF!! i had a friend you used to just like not eat during the day and she didnt lose anything cause her metabolism was slowing down

I don't have a problem with my weight since I am so active and have a high
metabolism, but I was thinking of making a Get Fit thread. Every week/or month I could post something that will help you get fit and such. I have been doing this all year and I have become a lot healthier and everything. What do you all think?

u need to get some new friends if they make fun of u for being fat

im on my moms sign in

Hun, if these friends are calling you fat, they aren't really your friends.

try to lose weight but dont stress about it i have been dealing with weight problems but i honstly dont care i think the outside does not matter it is wat is on the inside

First off, Madison, it really angers me to hear that your friends are calling you fat like that and it's affecting you this way. Friends all mess around with each other, and sometimes it can be in a negative way, but do they know how they are affecting your feelings and making you feel about your body? Because if so, they are not true friends if they continue to do it.

One thing you need to realize is that almost every single person deals with different body issues. Whether they think they're too fat, tall, hairy, big boned, muscular...there's always something that bothers us. Personally, my problem was trying to GAIN weight. I've always been severely undersized, and many people accused me of having an eating disorder (anorexia or bullemia) and because of it, I did develop an eating disorder, of over eating to gain weight. :guilty:

I guess the moral of the story is to try your hardest not to let other people's views of you affect you too much. Trying to obtain a healthy body type is a wonderful goal, and you should work hard for it, using all the different ideas that have been suggested to you so far, but don't sweat it too much, and don't over do it, because beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and real friends won't treat you the way these people do.

My advice on losing weight? It's all in proportions try to eat more times a day, but to cut down on the calories per sitting...drink a lot of water so that you're stomach is never empty and rumbling...most people don't get the proper serving of water a day...and when you really, really, crave sugary and/or salty processed goods we all love like oreos or potato chips, try only eating the serving size...10-15 chips or 2 cookies, and having something to drink like milk, juice, or water to fill you up. If that's too tedious, try getting your mom or dad to buy 100 calorie packs...they make them for almost any kind of snack anymore, and sometimes they're just what you need when you have that need for a cookie fix.

Good luck with the weight loss, Madison. :goodvibes

Thanks so much Deryk. :goodvibes

Okay,sorry I'm a little late.

First off,if people you think are your friends are calling you "fat" or any other degrading name, they are NOT your friends.
I am a chubby girl myself, and my friends know not to say that word around me,because I am NOT fat.
I just have alot of muscle.
Just remember, you may not be fat.
Muscle ways more than fat.

Remember,everyone is different.
Everyone has different body types.
Not everyone should have to be a size 2 to fit in or be cool.

However,if you really feel the need to lose weight, here are some stuff I would suggest.

DO NOT CRASH DIET!!!
They do nothing except make you feel worse than you already do.
Instead of 3 large meals a day,try 6 smaller meals a day.
1 for breakfast,1 snack between lunch and breakfast,1 lunch,1 between lunch and dinner,1 dinner, and maybe 1 small dessert.
Eat smaller portions and drink more water.
It not only helps you lose weight(albeit a small amount),it's healthier for you now and in the long run.

Excersise regularly.
Take a walk around the park or bike around the block.
Join a sport through your school or participate more in gym.
You don't need a gym to work out and lose weight.

Sorry it was so long.

Hope you meet your goals!
Don't worry.
If you're body type is like mine, you'll end up building more muscle than losing fat.

Play a sport like field hockey. when I started feild hockey for the first time, I lost 20 pounds in the first month, and I ate constantly, but I worked it all off. I think the easiest way to loose weight and get in shape is to play a sport because it's not just you that is getting in shape it is everyone on the team and you have people encouraging you and with someone behind you the whole way you are more likely to push yourself. for me, I have had the same FH and vb coach for 3 years and she has taught me how to push myself, so I don't need her anymore, and now I am always in shape, I love beng in shape, but for me, not for anyone else. Like other people have said, you should do this for you, not for anyone else.

I agree.
Last season playing field hockey,I think I lost close to 30 pounds.
Plus,it's a really fun sport.

Well, as everyone says, your friends are mean.

You need to surround yourself with people who are going to support you.

I know when I was in grade 9, I felt really overweight and I was not happy with myself.
I went to my mom and told her how I felt and she gave me her support and really helped me. She made me healthy meals, and went out walking with me, it really helped the process alot.

If your mom won't support you though, fin a friend or a family member who will.

I lost about 20 lbs with my moms help. I went from 150lbs down to 130lbs.
I was really proud of myself.
I did that all without setting foot in a gym, or spending money on diet foods. It took about 9 months, but it was worth it.

Right now, I'm back up to about 145, but I'm not unhappy with myself, I'm older, and I really like my curves!
I eat alot of junk food, I don't do much excercise, so it's my own fault. But at this point in my life, I've accepted that my curves are beautiful.
So don't be discouraged if you can't lose all the weight you want.
Someday you'll realize that being "thin" isn't everthing, and that sometimes, a few curves, or some "junk" is much more beautiful than lookin like a rake.

please feel free to PM me :)

First of all get better friends. Unsupportive, demeaning friends are the root of so many peoples problems.

Second, I'm absolutely 100% sure you're gorgeous. But, if you're absolutely sure you'd like to tone up a little do it for you, and not other people.

Now, you need to learn to control your motivation. You need to have enough motivation to actually excercise and eat healthier, but not so much you begin to lose all your self-worth.

After you have that all under control, and are actually ready for this, start eating smaller portions, and more meals during the day. Eat til your hunger feeling goes away, then STOP.

Don't randomly snack as much, and for your snacks have fruit instead of that candy. And pretzels instead of those chips.

As far as excersize, just walk around the block [twice or so] a couple times a week. Pace yourself. Just walk. And whenever you have some free time, sit on the floor and do some crunches. Just a few, don't over do it.

Personally, I have no motivation right now to actually lose weight the healthy way. So you might want to take my advice with a grain of salt. Coming from a person who battled anorexia for years, some of this advice might be tinted with it.

I hope you become happy with yourself.

Um just so we're clear.
My friends make fun of me, but they don't mean it. It just gets to me sometimes, you know?

And I've never had an eating disorder and I'm not thinking about turning to anorexia or bulimia to lose weight, so don't worry.

Thanks for all your advice though! :goodvibes

You can't turn anorexic or bulimic. It's a disease.
