HEY - what's with this cheezy new Member Guidebook?

Several have mentioned on the boards that thsi new version will save us money on our dues.
Do we have proof of this?
Maybe the money saved from "streamling" the guidebook is going to be used on more housekeeping?!?

Put me down as liking the new guidebook. I don't see the necessity of duplicating information from the old book. I like the streamlining, as it makes it easier to use...

I already posted in another thread that I like the new guide book or vacation planner or whatever else you'd like to call it. Lets face it! We all use computers and any other information you may need can be retrieved from the official DVC website. I can tell you that there is definitely a huge savings in production and mailing costs between last year's and this year's book. Annmarie

Yea!! Just received mine today. After reading this post, I thought I'd be more disappointed in it, but actually it isn't that bad. You just have to keep your old one to refer to. The new one has all the info I need when planning a trip. And it's alot easier to haul around. I take it to work sometimes or on short road trips to plan vacations "in my head". So it will work for that. I had really wanted a packet in the front or back cover to store my points log and was pleased to see that in the new book. It would have been nice to have room pictures and floor plan as well. Other than that, I'm happy with it.

Ideally, a notebook would be the best option. You'd get the notebook when you purchased the first time, then receive replacement pages as changes were made. But I know that everyone is not as detailed (read "anal") as I am, and before long there would be alot of messy out-of-date, out-of-control notebooks. Then those people would be complaining.

In 1997 we got a 3 ring binder and then for a few years we got the new pages just as you suggested - I am a pack rat so still have that one and all the things in between -

Just got mine. The only problem I have with it is it's size. They should have made it the same size as the 2002-3 Guidebook. Better yet, they might have accounted for guys like me who simply stuff the new one, in-between the pages of the old book, by making it slightly smaller than last year.

Other than that, it's good to have easier access to the points charts.

Don't think of it as a cheezy Member Guidebook.
Think of it as a fancy points chart, which is all it's intended to be.

If you need to know whether a beach cottage at Vero Beach includes both right-handed and left-handed corkscrews, you still have your Guidebook to refer to, in print or online.

I would suggest you complain to the source, the US post office. If it was damaged they can contact Disney for replacement.

Received mine yesterday and my only comment is that a lot of the pages seem to have wasted space. Why not fill those spaces up with pictures, etc. I don't mind the smaller bbook, but make good use of the space that is there.
