Okay, I placed my order today, and Marge says she will call me back to confirm my delivery time.

Here's the question - I've picked 11:30am (we are landing at 10:05am - today anyway, never know with Delta!) so that we can head out to lunch and the parks after. Our room will not be ready (or we could be really lucky :) ), so will bell services keep a few items cold for us (just milk, cream, & juice)?

And after we pay WEGO (groceries, shopping, and tip), should we then tip our bell person extra for storing the cold items (in addition to what we normally do to store the bags)?

Jeez, I hate to look the rube! Your advice is appreciated.

Harambe,

I've never used a grocery delivery service, but have read lots of posts about them because I might in the future. I've read many times that bell services will keep cold items cold if they are delivered prior to your room being ready. They did this for us once when we were changing resorts.

If I were tipping, yes I'd tip bell services extra for the food storage and delivery. We did tip extra when they delivered our bags and food from changing resorts. We tipped about $1.00 per bag and an extra $3.00 for the food.

It wasn't a problem for BS to hold onto the cold stuff.

Two of the three times, we've done this I have never seen the grocery delivery person since I paid with credit card and, for one reason or another, I wasn't at the hotel when it arrived. They delivered it to BS and then called me to let me know it was there. So, I only tipped the BS person who delivered it to our room since it was impossible to know who took delivery of it originally. Does that make sense? :-)

If I had handed the groceries directly to a person to store, I'd tip a few bucks.

Thanks guys!

I plan on being there for the delivery, so I'll be sure to tip a little more to our bell service person when he/she carts our stuff off to the cold storage.

So, this is probably a dumb question, but if you pay by cash, you would have to be present at the hotel to accept the groceries from WeGoShop-- right? It states on their website they charge an addl 3% of grocery total if you pay with other than cash/check. So the only way they could leave the groceries with bell services would be if you have already paid by credit card- right???
I want to use their services when we go in December, but this is my first time as well.

I've used WEGOSHOP two times now when camping (never at a hotel) @ WDW & have been very pleased with their service. Why not ask for delivery when you return to your room or are you maybe going to be out really late?

You are exactly right. If paying cash, you'll need to be there to get the groceries. We did this once, as well.

We never expected NOT to be at our hotel for delivery, BTW. Once our flight was delayed and another time (this was gardengrocer) the delivery man happened to be at our hotel earlier for another delivery and left ours earlier than scheduled.

So, if you are going to pay cash & get delayed at the park or airport, what does the WEGOShop representative do? Wait for you? Leave the groceries with bell services & call you to get your credit card information instead?:confused3

Well, I told Marge (she's the WEGO planner that handles Disney resorts) that I wanted to pay cash and she said fine. She didn't ask for a credit card for back up, so when you talk to her - and you need to call her to set up your time - you can run all these questions by her. I'll be sure to ask what happens if we are not present for delivery (but I am one optimistic person!!!).

And, yes, TuckandStuiesMom, we have ADRs for dinner at Sci Fi and plan on watching Fantasmic, so we'd be back too late to have a delivery then.

I am really getting excited now!!!!

With first time customers, Marge doesn't like to do the 'drop it off with bell service', but prefers the actual 'client being there' thing.

If your flight is delayed? No problem for Marge! I missed one of my flights last time, meaning I got in about 3,5 hours later than expected. Marge was there. She left a message on the voicemail for me stating she was at WDW and to call me on her cell when I got in. So I called her and lo and behold; there she was within no time. She and her husband had spent the time at DTD doing some walking around and eating.

Thanks for the great info, that completely answers my question. What would we do without our fellow Dis members???? :santa: :santa: :santa:
