Have you seen they are going to have a new "clubhouse" ? I guess the kids will be able to "chat" typing in their own messages. I'm disappointed as the lack of "chat" was one of the things I liked most about the site. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I thought they already could chat??? My girls are addicted to webkinz!!! It is getting a little much here. DH told them they will no longer get allowances to buy webkinz!! My younger DD just got 4 gift certificates and 2 webkinz for her b-day!!! Beginning today, my DD's are on very limited webkinz time!!

wish I could have thought about this idea!!! Whoever did is making big bucks.............our local paperstores can't keep them on the shelves. People are lined up!!

Are you sure that they will be able to type in their own messages? If so, I'd be disappointed. As it stands now, Webkinz is a safe internet place to visit.

according to the website, you need your parents permission to go to the open chat, they will also have a kinzchat area
my problem is that I cant find how to get to the clubhouse! can someone help me...

DD types messages to her friends in Webkins. I don't know how she does it but they go into a game or something and then they can type stuff to each other. I don't mind the chat at all.

My DS talks on the phone while playing online with his friends. He wears my headset so his hands are free. Does seem a lot quicker/easier than typing.

It's a new feature - he'll be excited about it for awhile - and then he'll never use it again I figure.

I just went on the site. I see the Clubhoue being advertised as now open but I can't figure out how to find where to get in it at. Anyone know how to get into it?

It wasn't there this morning, but the site was just down for a bit and now The Clubhouse is on the Things To Do list.

I went to one of the open chat rooms and no one was chatting!

Up until this point, the only messages kids could type to each other were canned messages and responses that are provided by the site. Now, any creep who wants contact with kids can spend $10.00 on a webkinz and go to the site and pretend he is a kid, perhaps get some personal information from your child.

Here's a better description from the site:

"The Open Chat area allows your child the freedom to type in their own messages. They can, however, only use words from our acceptable word dictionary. We have removed all numbers, names, place names, and any sort of inappropriate language from this dictionary. If a member tries to use a word that is not in the dictionary, the word will turn red, and the member will not be able to send the message.

Although the Open Chat area offers greater freedom of expression, we recommend this area for our older members (10 years old and up), due to the accuracy needed when spelling words; if words are misspelled, they cannot be sent in Open Chat. If your child is under 10 years of age, we suggest that they play in the KinzChat area."

I know they sell the movie studio in the W shop, but I didn't realize you could chat there. I bet they used script writing as a means to chat, cause there isn't an actual chat there.

To the poster who asked where can you get them, go to the webkinz site, and there is a space to enter your zipcode to find out which stores in your area sell them. most places who sell beanie babies, sell webkinz, or will be soon.
