Just wondering...when do teachers go to WDW? I teach in DE and I've been weighing all the options. Do you strictly go on your breaks (CROWDS GALORE) or do you pull it off when school's in session (Much Better crowds!)?

I'd love to know how you all handle your plans!

The day after school gets out. I teach in a private school. My two DDs go to public.

I get out of school a week before they do.. which gives me time to pack and take care of last minute errands.

They are getting out on Thursday (May 26th) and we are leaving bright and early the morning of the 27th.

I don't worry so much about taking time off for me (although I have very limited sick/vacation days) but I don't want to take my girls out of school now. They are in middle and high school and it gets a lot more difficult at this age.

I teach in Wisconsin. My trips, until retirement, will be in the summer. Last year is was mid-August and this year it is early August. I am going to try and sneak in a late fall trip during teacher convention :flower:

When I taught we went during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring break. Glad we can go the second week in December now. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

DW is a 3rd grade teacher in public school, she has a very understanding principle and we taking a week off in Oct for Disney. When we ski or go to the beach its always on her breaks but we break the "rules" for Disney.

My GF Nikkie is an elementary school music teacher. The last three years (including this year), we went right after Memorial Day. Her last day of school is next Tuesday, and we leave for WDW exactly a week after that. :)

I am a Special Ed. Ed Tech, I teach in one district and the boys are in another.

In 2004 we went the week before Christmas Break. Pricnciple was very understanding it was the Assitant Super that had to be convinced!!

2006 it will either be 2 weeks after school gets out which will be the 3rd week of June(just in case of too many snow days) or August 19th. We are not sure yet.

Yes it will be hot, hot, hot! We have gone in December the last 2 times and it was cold, cold, cold; even for us New Englanders!

I would have to go during our breaks. We are not allowed to take other days off during the year beyond out 2 personal days.

Since I live in south FL, I will be going on any and all weekends I want (thanks to the second paycheck!)

My husband is a HS teacher. We've always gone during the summer and school breaks. He cannot take time off, other than the occasional day here and there. My kids are on different schedules so this makes it more annoying, but we've always been able to figure something out. Never had a problem in all the years we've been going, so it is possible.

Happy Planning!!!

DH is a high school teacher. We have gone at all the crowded times -- Easter, Christmas (we're doing that again this year!) and our April vacation (New Englanders). I finally convinced DH to use a personal day, and last September we celebrated his fiftysomething birthday at WDW. I had received a pin code, we stayed at WL and got great $49 flights on SWA. It ended up being an expensive trip -- we bought into DVC!
Our next trip is July, and in 2006 we'll go President's Week to avoid the April vacation week as the first Sunday is Easter.

I've done trips a lot of ways...honeymoon was a week in Aug, fam reunion was last week of June, 2 WDW inline marathons...one was March/April the other was April/May both for 5 days...did take last year's trip with three personal days and it was a great idea...no prob in my building to do this...will be taking a week long June trip this year since we get out of school earlier...will take a 5 day trip to CA/DisLand in Oct and will be taking three personal days. I already have my scheduled planned for that week!

We went July into August last summer. This summer we're going the last 10 days of July.

DW and I did sneak in a long weekend visit two weeks ago. I hadn't used any personal days yet, so I took one on a Friday and the one on the following Monday. We get three, so I still have one reserved should I need it during the next month (this is separate from sick days, of which I've taken very few this year). Anyway, we left on the first flight out after school on the Thursday and flew home Monday evening. Crowds were fine, but we were going to relax, not do everything. In fact, we were going just to do the big rides that we can't do together with DS (3).

My students are all done with state exams, were taking the SAT that weekend, and we're still 6 weeks out of finals at that point, so I thought it was an appropriate weekend to sneak off. The guilt started to wear off when I saw the Magical Express bus waiting for me. It was gone when we entered the lobby of the Poly.

My husband is a high school teacher. He get out the May 25th and we are leaving the 29th. This is our 1st WDW trip as a family with kids. I don't see him taking a week off at a time to go so we go as soon as he gets out.

I teach at the Catholic school that my children attend, and when we get out at 10:00 a.m. on the last day of school, we leave from the parking lot!!! This year my oldest is in the 6th grade, so they will be having a party for their class that afternoon to celebrate moving on to another school so I'm planning on going to party for a few hours with my son, then home for about a 5- hour "nap", then hit the road.

DH and I are both teachers (in England). Our last WDW trip we took during the last 2 weeks of August (our schools break from the end of July to the 1st week in September.) This time we are going from 21st December (we break up on the 20th) - 2nd January. We visited DLP last year for a week during our Easter break.

June 01;June '02;July '03; July;04 no kids

Now, June 5th-June 18th and December 3-6th; we're taking two personal days. (Gotta use those AP's and DVC points!)

I can't take off for something like a vacation.

I either go the day school lets out for summer (usually around June 1), or the day we get out for Christmas break.
