Your pages all seem to look the same after a while. I was looking through my books and found that I seem to get on a new technique and use it till I am bored and then move on to a new one. For instance when I first got my chalks all my pages had die cuts with chalk, then I got the circle/oval cutter so all the pages had circles or ovals, then I started a mass CM party going with all the neighbors so I had all CM type pages.....does anyone else see this in their books.
Trying to get more creative now......and Oh! dont get me started about my first books....spiral bound, no page protectors and glue sticks!!!! Oh boy have I moved on from that stage....lol!

yep sounds about right! Especially the first books! LOL! I also used spiral bound! Someone please tell me WHY!!?!?!?!? and then those sissors! YIKES! I cut some many into cute ruffled edge odd shaped things! Luckily that was a very short period of my life!

Sometimes. I just finished a pretty big set of pages for DS's football book and there are similarities. Lots of blue for instance - but the school colors are blue and white so what are ya gonna do? :D

I also tend to mat photos but other than that there is a fair amount of variation - some quite simple, others more complicated. I'm a pretty basic scrapper though - sticking to papers, stickers, die cuts and photos. No chalks or other 3D embellishments.

Hey Spinning - we must have been posting at the same time. I know what you mean about the scissors. I admit that I still use them but in a MUCH more selective manner. Now instead of using them on photos I'll use them here and there on either the mat paper or trim paper.

I really like a set of pages I did for the game against the Bulldogs. Their logo has this bulldog with his teeth showing. So I used my dragon scissors to do one edge of the strips on the outside page edges and on some corner trim. Gave it a nice tough look. Especially since I could then journal that we pulled those teeth by beating them soundly! LOL!

I tend to work on several books at a time and out of order so when I get stuck on a technique it gets spread out. Because of this though, I did put a book together not to long ago that had 2 layouts back to back that were exactly the same except for color.

I have to laugh at some of these posts because my scrapping buddies and I always say some of the same things. "can you believe I used to crop photos with bubble scissors?"and "why did I put stickers all over everything?". I just find it interesting to see how my style has evolved over the years.:p

I just completed a large scrapbook of two trip I took "years ago." One trip was to Texas & the other to California. The beginning is my ho-hum I'm a beginner look. Then I looked at a book at the LSS that the owner did & picked up some ideas. Then I took a cardstock class last weekend & guess what? More new ideas in the same book! So, I do understand!

LOL-That is so true of my first book! Spinning- I also used a spiral bound and OMG-I used those decorative scissors on everything-yikes!!! I can honestly say I haven't used those scissors pretty much since then! I too sometimes get in a rut but I do try and try out different techinques just to shake things up!

Well it's good to know we're all in the same boat. Sometimes I think I should redo some of my first books, but then again it's good to look at them and think how far I've come!
The other thing I think is interesting is, I have an old scrapbooking magazine and just looking through it. Things were so simple even 4 years ago. Now there are just so many more supplies available to use and great ideas to copy! Can you imagine how great our books will look in another 5 years!!!

That's how I get most of my new ideas. I scraplift from friends, magazines, books, anything....I've started keeping a sketch book similar to what Becky Higgins' book is like, and anytime I like the look of a layout I see somewhere, I quick sketch it and make notes of different embellishment ideas, etc. I don't duplicate the layout exactly, but I get some good and fresh ideas for my layouts that way. :)

LOL!!! Now my new problem....I am doing a book for my 18 year old daughters graduation this year. I am debating between using just school, sports and award activities...or going back and starting from scratch with all the stuff. Doing all of it seems to be a bit much, but on the other hand doing just school and related activities means taking apart her first spiral bound, scissor cut, oh my is it bad....book. What do you think girls??? I need to get busy on it as I have a all day crop coming up and I want to power layout my pages so I can get a lot done that day.

By the way I have about 2 dozen scissors for sale CHEAP lol!!anybody want to buy them.....:)

This is where my tendancy to bounce around really helps!
I am working on a lot of albums - I get bored with the 'sedding' album, go to one of the kids albums, run out of ideas, go to the others kids, then on to the Jimmy Buffet, I think you get the picture -
but it works because - for example - I recently went through a 'Mosaic' Kick and every album has a two page spread now :)

Goofymom/pop -

Do you happen to still have double prints or negatives around of the pics in those first albums? If so you might consider reprinting some of those and putting them in the new album. That way the original can stay intact and the other can have more in it.

Patty can you share some info about your Jimmy Buffet album? Trying not to be nosey! LOL! But I am a Buffet fan!
