I made a Palo ressie for the parents and my Dh and I for 6:30pm on Saturday, anyone going to be there??? :goodvibes

Lynn-Ok, Ryan's on his way to you...cute thing, very polite, missing his two front teeth, blonde and green eyed. Pick him up at the airport.....just kidding!!!!!

JoAnn-we're doing Palo's tea on Sunday (Liz and I) but sorry have dinner ressies another night.

macbaby-thanks for the animal park reminder...we actually have season passes there and I FORGOT!!!!!!! Too much DCL cruise planning has invaded my mind?!? Oh and YES!!! I did feel that earthquake, we were having lunch at Ruby's and half the place didn't even notice. Ok, after going years without feeling one, two in one week is freaking me out (actually 3 if you could the one in Crescent City). My poor Dad is coming from NJ tomorrow and I bet his wishing he wasn't coming (except for the fact he's going to see his lovely daughter, son-in-law and grandsons :rotfl: )!!!!

So, tomorrow I'm off to check out the "Y" in our next town for activities for Ryan...that should help keep him busy!

I forgot Lucy was at WDW!!!

I have one more day of teaching and then monday is a teacher workshop, Yuck! We are also packign up our whole school since it's closing and they're opening a new one! Which is great since our school is so old, but tons of work!
Wendy

I packed up three years ago (after 17 years personally) in a building that was somewhere around 90 years old with a lot of remodeling/construction over time! We are now in TWO new buildings (K-2 and 3-5) of 500 each. Yes, we had 1000 kids in one building!!! :confused3 I love my new classroom, carpet and all!! :cloud9:

Like Joann, we didn't have air conditioning either! (until 1994...6 months after my first pregnancy! Taught VERY PREGNANT on the 2nd floor of temps sometime up to 100 degrees!).

I hear another earthquake in CA, what is going on out there. I am starting to get a little nervous about this trip!! Can't let me DD15 hear any of this (she' oblivious anyway) or she will freak. She didn't want to go on this cruise in the first place. Well like you said, hope it gets it ALL out of its system before we get there. I am glad that you are done with school JoAnn, Briana has 1 more final on Monday (Religion) and her Biology Regents on Wednesday. She will be glad to be finished. Now that Alex has graduated, we hardly ever see her anymore, between her job at Boulder Creek and her social life. I guess its a prelude to going away to college, we better get used to it. Not sure if I like it though. Alex will be heading to WDW in less than 3 weeks (lucky her) and plans on picking up some things for us for the Pirate night on the ship. Any of you ladies have any idea what you were going to wear that night. I was thinking of going gypsyish. It's easy for the guys, I think we have to put a little more thought into it. I went to Home Depot last week and picked up all the Alien Green Mickey paint chips (well not all, I left one there, LOL). Will be putting those on the luggage tags and perhaps make a magnet for the cabin door. Getting very excited about this trip, I need to get a new gown for formal night, otherwise I am pretty set with clothes. Hope everyone is well (and enjoying the cooler weather here in the NE - boy it was hot as hell the last week and a half :cool2: - now it looks like we may get a little spring??)
Debi

Ok, I haven't bought one thing for this trip yet!! No formal dress, no pirate outfit and the worst one............NO BATHING SUIT...........I better get shopping!! :earsgirl:

JoAnn-Miraclesuit is my hot tip. I bought one (they have them a Macy's, Nordstroms, etc) and their advertising says it makes you look 10 lbs thinner in 10 seconds...and it's TRUE! My DH was very complimentary when I put my swimsuit on!

Debi-for pirate night I'm wearing a red/white stripe short sleeve shirt (cotton) with black capris, black shoes and a neckalace with beads that has pirates on it (www. ustoy. com w/out the spaces). I'm also going to wear a red or black sash if I can find/make one. My boys are going to dress up as pirates. DH is wearing a black shirt with black pants. He wants to keep it simple and low key (such a guy). :teeth:

Free chance for a plug here (we have alot invested in Nordstrom stock - so why not)

Nordstrom is having there 1/2 Yearly sale right now. Women's and Children sale lasts until Sunday. Men's started today and last through next Sunday. The 1/2 Yearly sale is mainly a mark-down sale and there are very, very good deals on high-end vendors. Shawn bought a $1800 Armani suit today for $497 (of course that was after his wonderful associate discount).

The Anniversary sale starts the second week of July (Nordstrom only has three sales a year). Perfect time for our cruise. The Anniversary sale is new merchandise that will be hot for the fall (new lines) sold at a great discount for two weeks. After the sale is over, the merchandise goes back to regular price.

Hi All,

I'm still around...We just returned from the Disney Vacation Club at Hilton Head Island. It was a fantastic week. We had PERFECT weather. This was our first trip to Hilton Head and our first stay as members at a DVC resort. It was just great, very family oriented. The resort is so nice...on a salt water marsh with a great pool. Owen went crabbing every morning. We rode bikes, went to the beach every day (the water was like a bathtub!), kayaked, took a dolphin tour, relaxed... We'll go back there again for sure.

Now I've got to unpack and get the kids back on some sort of a schedule. It was so nice having a washer and dryer in the villa. We returned home with almost no dirty laundry. That is the one aspect of the upcoming trip that I dread. I'm going to have to do laundry at least once while we're in Coronado or Disneyland. I can't take a week's worth of dirty clothes on the cruise.

According to Cal Tech, the earthquake experts, we are returning to a "normal" pattern. If you really want to see what is going on, check out: http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/quakes0_fault.htm . We have earthquakes on a regular basis, you just don't feel them much.

Hi all

I am also packing up - twice, so it seems. My current school is temporarily moving to a new campus for three years. I am also switching districts and moving to a whole new campus myself. I have been packing for three weeks now and still have more to do!

Only three more days of school left, at least on my current campus. Then I immediately start at my new campus. Oh well, at least it will pay for the cruise.

Wow! So many great tips, I'll have to go shopping for the Miraclesuit!! I have a minor surgery scheduled for Monday so that will slow me down alittle with preparations!!

The HH trip sounds great! I really want to go there but so far we haven't made it! :moped:

WAS I MISSED AT ALL? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Saturday evening, we have returned from the long drive home.
I'm finally ready to fly, I think :rotfl:
WDW was SO HOT! Can't believe we came home to 70 degree weather,
nice!
Time to stop eating again, I love Disney food!
Lisa, about the earthquakes - yes, you were thought of quite a bit - we made sure the news was turned off when the 13 yr. old was in the room -
he did NOT need to hear about that....and, about the tsunamis...didn't
we also discuss that?
JoAnn - what is the HH trip? also let me know what you find out about
limos, ok?
Lynn, would you like a 19 yr. old also? PRETTY PLEASE! I'll bring
you a year's worth of Nilla Wafers!
I missed talking with you guys - actually, this was the first thing I did when I walked in the door (the car is not even unloaded - these are the important things, right?) Then I checked for 'signs' of misconduct in the house, the
19 yr. old stayed home to work.
Our PALO reservations are for Wed. evening and brunch is either Sunday or Monday - I can't remember....I just know it is when other DISers are going.

Lucy - Welcome back from WDW.
JoAnn - Hope all goes well with your surgery.
Lisa - Thanks for the info on pirate night. I was thinking of wearing a white peasant type blouse and maybe buying a peasant skirt or borrowing one from my DD. Also want to get some big jewelry!!!

JoAnn - what is the HH trip?

Lucy! Welcome home...I was wondering where you were and Jenny reminded me you were at WDW, how could I FORGET?!?! "HH" as JoAnn has abbreviated, is in reference to Kathy's most recent Hilton Head trip at Vero Beach DVC.

Well, we're counting down here. I'm pretty much ready. The boys are set in the clothing department. I'm set in the clothing department, right down to my special occassion jewelry! :teeth: DH, well, he sees no need to check if he needs anything special so he'll be wearing what he wears every day, except for his tuxedo on formal night. Now we just need to wait for July 30th!

Actually, Hilton Head is in South Carolina and Vero Beach is in Florida. We'd love to visit the Vero Beach DVC sometime soon. I've heard it's also wonderful and fully repaired/refurbished after being in the path of a couple of hurricanes last year.

We took the kids to Busch Gardens Williamsburg yesterday. We live about 35 miles away and have season passes. They premiered their new summer show "Imaginique" last night. It was excellent...sort of like Cirque du Soleil.

Tomorrow the kids start YMCA KinderCamp which runs from 8:45am to 12:15pm each day for the next 4 out of 5 weeks before our trip. It'll be my first chance since school let out to get anything done.

We're pretty much set in the clothing department. I did get DH a new linen blazer and DS a new linen suit at Nordstrom. Unfortunately only DS's suit was on sale. Leslie, I envy your husband's associate discount. DD and I will be wearing our signature mommy-daughter summer wear, Lilly Pulitzer.
