Hey, its raining and the Roof is Leaking....

Again!!!! The last time it rained bad, was on Feb. 25 when I got out of the Hospital, after sugery, to come home to a roof leak. So, my DH spent 1,400.00 to FINALLY FIX IT FOR GOOD!! HA! HA HA! Bad rains the last 2 days, and whaaala-the same spot is leaking AGAIN! We have been plagued with this roof leak, on and off for 18 years! Yes, we called the roofer, whom my DH worked with, and he is on his way. So, will this ever be fixed? Or is it the ROOF THAT REFUSED TO NOT LEAK???

But its a small area 2X4 foot, and they want to pay for a whole roof, which we do not need.

how do you know it's the 2x4 area..maybe the water is running under the shingles from somewhere else... and then coming into the house at the 2x4 area..??

I know this will sound odd but maybe you have a bullet in your roof like my sister-in-law did!

She lived in Miami and had a leaky roof for years. People came out and "fixed" it but it would keep leaking. She was getting ready to sell and move back to New England a few months ago when she attempted to get the roof fixed again. The new roofing men found a bullet in the roof that was hidden under the rubber backing under the shingles....now for everyone who is thinking how in the heck did a bullet get in the roof....and this is exactly what I asked her....her response was that during celebrations many of her neighbors shot their pistols in the air and one of the bullets lodged in her roof!

Odd but true.

So check for those bullet holes!

It sounds like you're throwing good money after bad.. If the insurance company will pay for an entire new roof, go for it.. Sooner or later you will need one anyhow, so why not now?

Insurance won't cover the actual leaky roof, only the damage inside the house caused by the leak. What Mickey88 saying is very possible.

How old is your roof? It may be time for a new one. We went down that road about 3 years ago ($15K). It was the original roof (about 25 years old) and it had been repaired in various spots. With all the rain that we have had in the last two days, I'm glad we don't have to worry about roof leaks.

I hope you get it fixed though, nothing worse than stressing over roof leaks.

The 1,400.00 we paid is guaranteed for 5 years, so we got it repaired again for free. NO other area is leaking just this one stubborn spot. As far as bullet holes, yes we are aware of that, and look for those immediately.
