I've cursed through those (Ranch's) Haunted Mansion rooms many times..usually because I got to the end, got a question wrong, and had to go back through the ride alllllllll over again. First and second times are okay because you see things that you didn't notice before, but on the 43rd time it gets old.

p.s. I think I would faint if any staff came to my VMK Photo Museum. 8 floors of pics. funny pics, silly pics, interesting pics, etc. hardly ever any visitors. even when I had a quest going.

AliceBlue is a friend of mine and quite franky, I'm very happy she won her well-deserved Best Guest Room win. It's too bad you can't be happy for her and the others who won. Have you seen her rooms? She is an amazing builder, as are many other players, Dis or otherwise.
Stop the complaining. If you're that unhappy with vmk, why are you still playing? It is, after all only a game.

Tampa/Ranch all I can say as at least you have won a pin and had your name on the VMK Home Page some of us haven't so think yourself lucky. We all work hard on our rooms but you do not see any other diser posting that they should have won best guest room.

How can you expect the staff to judge something that wasnt even there and then berate them. If you are going to rant , then at least give a fair picture of what you are ranting about

It's posts like this that make me wonder why I bother playing.

Consider yourself overwhelmingly lucky to have won awards already, and even have had staff visit at all. Sure you worked hard on the rooms, but so does everyone else...and as Bearz says, there are many other rooms, far better, which go unnoticed. The owners of those do not scream they were robbed.

I myself have had my christmas room and my new halloween ride rooms hit 3 yellow and red status, but have never had staff visit. At least half a dozen players said the ride would easily win best room, and Agilstar and I spent a very long time planning , buying and building the rooms for it. You don't hear us demeaning any winning rooms or saying we should win.

What made our day was the first "Wow, awesome!" comment from a player after taking the ride...THAT is what its all about not seeking honours and awards.

Those rooms were built and installed late that sunday evening. That pulls them into the bracket.. and when they did make their appearance, I still said nothing to the guests about them and had let guests discover the work on their own. Even a week later, I still never said much about "the blue doors" and tomorrow, they will remain, "the best kept secret in vmk".

As someone has already brought to my attention, the vip pin has been killed (nontradable), so there really is no incentive for me to win anything any more. I've said before of the extreme desire to get that pin for someone special to me, and now that I can't, the room award race is no longer appealing. But don't get me wrong, building WDW is.

There is such a thing as winning too much in vmk, and they'll make sure you know that.

Ok, I agree that Ranch can't expect to win with everything he makes, but that was kind of a slap in the face to give the win to someone else who built a castle almost like his.

To me, I am Mr. Invisible with staff. I have had 3 Mickey Ears for my quest, my games and a few of my guest rooms.. Never have staff came, never have I won Best Guest Room. I have played for 369 days, worked my tail off to build fun rooms for people to play in and possibly get Best Guest only to see people copy ideas that I had. Who was the first person to build a batting cage in the back of his baseball room? Me. Who was the first person to build a pyramid out of the Typhoon Crates. Me. The list goes on. And as a constant theme, people take my ideas and say they came up with it. Best guest for them, no prize or even attention for me.

How do you "know" you were the first to create something? Is there a list I missed in a copywrite office somewhere. Good ideas come to lots of people and don't be so sure that Ranch's was the "first" castle. Ranch can't say with certainty and a straight face that his was "first". However based on his pictures on the pictures of the winning castle. Hand's down Ranch's is second choice in that race.

If Ranch was half the individual he makes himself out to be, wanting to give away the VIP pin, then he should trade all the items to his "Friend" and allow that individual to win for best room. I mean it is a team and why does Ranch seam to be the only one speaking? He may have a point if a team member built the same room and won. However I don't think so.

I don't think it's a slap in the face at all. Building a room that imitates the signature structure in every Disney theme park is not an especially creative idea. Furthermore, the new pirate walls are an obvious choice of building materials for a castle. That's where the similarity between Tampa's room and the winning room stop.

It is absurd to think that the choice to award AliceBlue's room was somehow an attempt to send a message to Tampa, or a deliberate attempt to ignore Tampa, or that it has anything to do with Tampa at all! AliceBlue's castle is well executed in every way and looks almost nothing like Ranch's. That doesn't mean that Tampa's castle isn't good or isn't worthy of any award. The value of Tampa's effort is completely irrelevant.

I was hoping this thread was a joke. I poked a little fun at it myself and you (Tampa) got quite defensive. I can't help but think you take these subjective awards way too personally. You are right, you don't have to admit that AliceBlue's room is better. You do have deal with it though.

And if you're unhappy with my leadership abilities, there's always the option of using vmk's contact us button and filling your complaint.
All you've accomplished with your little tirade is to get others with similar attitudes to attack my friend AliceBlue on the game. She has been accused of stealing your idea and we both know this is not true. She had a castle on vmk for a very long time, as I'm sure you're aware. Should I, as said leader, condone your behavior? I would think not. If this were a 'real life' situation, I'm afraid your attitude would have had more serious consequences.
If, as you say, this is "your thread" and you can say as you wish, you are also mistaken. Personal attacks, also known as "flames" are not permitted.

Tampa, I am sorry you feel your work is not being given the recognition you feel it deserves, however, your post(s) indicates that other winners are somehow unworthy of the awards they have won. This definitely is being very disrespectful of their feelings.

Your passion of building and creating great rooms for others is appreciated by players, as pointed out by your room's popularity. Please consider the joy you find in the teamwork it takes to accomplish this, and the satisfaction that could be your's by realizing how many players you help have a great VMK day! You have won awards in the past, and I am sure could very well win again in the future, but the thousands of other players also deserve recognition of their efforts.

We do not believe in censorship, and open discussions about various issues is encouraged. We ask that everyone conduct himself or herself with respect when speaking to other people. It is okay to disagree, as long as the discussion remains respectful of the feelings of others. Once a discussion begins to step over that line, the post in question will be deleted.
