***Hey, Hey! Come right in and plan, OFFICIAL OCTOBER 2017 thread!!!***

Who do You all use for planning which park for which day? I've looked at several different sites and everyone seems to be different. Another question... Has anyone ever done MK on a party day? I'm curious if the MK is a little less crowded due to guests avoiding it because it closes early or guests not coming until the party starts.

Last year we had a PPO BOG breakfast the day of a Christmas Party, we got a lot of stuff done before we left in the afternoon. We ended the night at California Grill to see the party fireworks. It was great. I am still unsure if we are doing MNSSHP on Halloween night, if not we will RD or get a PPO BOG again.

When I am planning I just look at EMH schedules, party schedules and then decide what my goals are for the trip. I think out of the 10 days we did Thanksgiving day through the first week of Dec last year, half of those days were on non recommended days. We did just fine and got a lot done, even though my DH was sick a few days and I was sick the entire trip. Just have a good plan/idea what you want to do, and then everything is just cake.

I have done a MNSSHP on the same day as visiting MK. I will not do it again. :-)

It just was too tiring for us. for some reason the people with me felt it would be better to do that on our check-in day. Would have worked great if our room was ready early (i know never a guarentee with that). But we didn't end up leaving MK until right at 3 to our resort. Then we had to wait on our luggage.

Yes, better planning would have good. LOL.

We ended up having a pretty good time and we even had a BOG dinner reservation so that gave us time to relax some more.

I am not doing a park on the day I am going to MNSSHP this year. Gonna relax and hang out at the pool or resort and head over around 5 to MK.

Yes, that totally sounds exhausting, but I meant go to MK on a party day and not go to the party that evening.

Good to hear! I get so wrapped up in the recommended parks and days. I followed plans to a tee our last trip, and I was trying to go a little more with the flow this time. I had just started thinking about ADR's and began looking at recommended days for October. October seems a lot harder to plan than our May trip.

The crowds are noticeably smaller. I would just recommend leaving before the rush of party people start entering to use their FP+ around 4pm. It's a bit of a madhouse at that point.

If you go to MK on a non party day, it will be more crowded. The Saturday before Halloween was nuts! I went in after Wishes and could barely move.

I was thinking of getting a ADR for about 5 or so at BOG before leaving.

That is definitely doable! You will not really be in the chaos back in Fantasyland. You will see it on Main Street. They will start roping off the sides and only allow people to exit through Main Street and party goers enter from the back behind the shops (confectionary, Starbucks, etc) and spit out by The Plaza.

I had my rough plan together before hours came out last year, based off of 2016, they changed up the EMH days and everything. I just threw it out and didnt stress so much. Then again, I started going before long before the crowd calendars were around, and had fun on those trips. You will be at Disney, with your family, that is more important then getting everything done.

We did a Christmas Party on our arrival day, kids were young and never again. We all were so tired and it was in the low 40's that night. We didnt even make it to close to the end of the party. Its part of the reason why I wasnt to excited to go to the Christmas party last year, and well, the price was so ridiculous. I enjoyed my Lapu Lapus far more then hitting up the party :drinking1

Hi! in 2014 we went to MK for our day on a Thursday (party at night that we did not attend) - it was great. :) Lower crowds, relaxed. I would totally do that if I were you.

As for attending the party, we want Thursday 10/26 - our plan (at the moment) is to rope-drop Epcot (if things stay the same, this will be an early morning hour), use our fast passes there, eat at food/wine for a bit, the go back to Polynesian for relaxing. We will grab counter service somewhere - hotel, Contemporary, MK. We won't head over to the party until after 5, probably around 6.

So I look at crowd calendars, etc. and then I kind of just forget them. :rotfl: In reality, as long as you get there early, you can plan your day out and get a lot done no matter the crowds.

This trip I'm very laidback about parks/fast passes. We are going for 9 nights, and last time we did that I feel like we finished everything in the first few days! So this time I'm just kind of spreading the parks out. I know where we are eating each night, the parks are just kind of falling into place around it.

9 nights sounds amazing!

Yay a new member! :teeth: Hello and welcome!

We love MNSSHP - I want my boyfriend to be Charlie Brown, I will be Lucy and my sister said she will be Linus or Peppermint Patty...and this way whoever else tags along on this trip can just be one of the Peanuts!
If you're going as the peanuts gang... check out Jamberry nails. They just released Peanuts Jamberry nail wraps! (BTW--they also carry official Disney nail wraps too).

We're headed to POR Oct 6-15th. Kind of bummed that they now have this slow release of park hours on the WDW site! I have figured out that I can begin accessing the park hours for our trip on March 30th, but wont know all park hours for the entirety of the trip until April 8th. It will be seriously cutting it tight with planning and deciding on ADR since we usually plan which park first and then decide on dining options and we can begin booking our ADR on April 9th! Yikes!

as soon as October hours and RoL packages are annouced, im considering starting a pre-trip report. my ADR is the 30th!!

Just booked our flights! We will be there from Oct 27-Nov 3. :cheer2:

Ready for initial park hours to be posted now. Hopefully tomorrow?
