***Hey, Hey! Come right in and plan, OFFICIAL OCTOBER 2017 thread!!!***

Hi all!!! Please add us to the list for October! Currently booked from 10/26-10/29 at BC, and hoping the kids' school calendar cooperates! Our previous October trips have been around Columbus Day, so hoping for better crowds this year! Ready to start planning!!

Hey ya'll! Can I be added to this thread? We are scheduled to go 10/6-10/11 and staying at Pop. We went last year in May and after my husband saying no to going back to back years, I finally "convinced" him! LOL It only took me to say that we can go for our daughter's birthday, Halloween and my faves Jack & Sally are out! Happy Disney wife, happy Disney life!! :) Not only that, we have decided to go ahead and take my sister and her family!! We want to spread the Disney magic and our wallets VERY thin!! Oh, whose kidding! I am being selfish and want to be there for when my nieces and nephew get to see Disney World for the first time!!

I am slightly concerned about the week we are going. I have to admit, I don't look at calendar's as much, now that my son is out of school. When we first booked, I did not realize it was Columbus Day weekend when we arrive.

I have been floored by the lack of availability of studio's at the DVC resorts. We were fortunate enough to get both parts of our split stay booked with what we wanted, but I was really stressing about what was going to be available. Heck, while I was on the phone booking AKL the room type we wanted disappeared, luckly the CM had placed the hold and we got our room.

I know that Sun/Mon (Oct 8/9) will be busy, but does that carry through to the rest of the week?

We had planned on a fairly lax trip, but if it is going to be *that* busy, I might have to do a bit more planning. Touring Plans show most days at 6/7 through the whole week, which I have never found overly busy.

Anyone else been on a holiday week? How was it?

I am wondering how it will be as well. It's our 1st family trip (we have 3 kids under 7) and we're bringing grandparents as well, so I will likely need to get a Xanax smoothie each morning. Do they offer those at the resorts? :rotfl:

I am super underwhelmed by Southwest's flights that came out today. I was so hopeful to get those booked, but I guess I'll be waiting until June when they have their big sale. As for the calendar...I'm hoping for tomorrow as well. I saw somewhere said the TA calendars are released on Fridays/Mondays

I was surprised how much they increased over the 1st day. I was really hoping for some better mid-day options, but I think we've found some good ones!

I know many of us will be attending MNSSHP...so anyone thinking of costumes yet? I've never been a costume person, but for some reason dressing up for the party seems really fun to me. I have been fixated on it today, looking at pinterest and etsy for ideas. I have a terrible cold, so it's keeping my mind off that.

Snow White or something Haunted Mansion related are what I'm typically drawn to.

Does anyone have costume plans already??
We did Haunted Mansion and Snow White themed costumes last year! :)

This year it's Alice in Wonderland (and sadly, only 1 party).

A not so great rumor to report. It seems Splash Mountain will be getting a refurb from August to November. I won't add it to the front page until it's been verified though. Someone reported certain cast members got the refub list today, Splash was on for that time frame.

Fingers crossed it's not true!!!

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Splash is one of my all time favorite rides and it was closed on our trip to Disneyland last October too. Believe it or not this almost makes me think about changing our dates. This trip is such a huge expense for us-one we can't really afford and I have to take on extra work to come up with the money- that it is a once in a lifetime trip. I had thought that with Halloween time and the opening of Pandora it would be a good time to go as most things would be open to accomidate the crowds and special events but if the big headliners that are our must dos will be closed...

Hello to @Felicis, @merry_nbright, @TxDisneyMomof2, and @Cluelyss!

Welcome to our fearless group of October Adventurers! Check the first post for some helpful links, updates, crowd calendars, openings/closings - I try to keep it updated as much as possible. Anything you think needs to be added, please post and I can add it!

@hultrain I have added Wilderness Lodge. I'm sorry I missed it the first time!

Yeah...I'm not considering changing our trip, but I am bummed it's going to be down. I'm just crossing everything that can be crossed that nothing else goes down. The other ride rumored is Mission Space - that I can handle.

I don't need to post about all the other great things, but just take a minute and think before you change any dates. You may feel differently later. Or if you really want to change your dates, then do it! :) But I will say, I've been reading 2018 is going to be a bad year for construction walls around the World...

Thanks! I'm excited! My dad and uncle's first MNSSHP and first Horror Nights for me! I love AHS and am hoping for a house this year again!

Also, I'm sure those hours will change everybody! :) At least they better! No, I think MK will be open until at least 11 on Saturday nights, and AK should be open later, hopefully until 8:30.

Yes! I was happy to see this posted this morning. Although, it seems so silly that I was waiting for something that I know is going to change anyway! I'd also like to see extended AK times - plus information on when ROL will be offered (I want to book a ROL package) as well as any Star Wars fireworks in DHS.

Awesome! Do you mind if I add this link to the first post?

Of course!

I was more interested in the EMH parks, though I'm hoping one of the DAK EMH's will change from an AM to a PM EMH. Though with my luck it will be the Saturday EMH and we will be attending the Swan & Dolphin Food and Wine Classic that night.

At least the 7pm MK closing times pretty much confirm MNSSHP nights. Still trying to decide if we are going to go to one, but I do know what I am going dressed as if we do! lol

Going to put the 13 month AP to good use!!! :goodvibes Flights booked for return trip end of Oct/beginning of Nov - planning first MNSSHP , and a repeat visit to Food & Wine!!:cheer2:

Just saw this posted in the news and rumor thread. Pandora FP+ will be tiered so you can only chose one per day in your initial 3. No word on the other AK FP+ attractions yet.

http://blogmickey.com/2017/03/fastpass-pandora-world-avatar-tiered-available-reserve-tomorrow/

Grrrr.....myself and Micky will be going to AK twice, so it's not bad for us, but my sisters and brother will only have one day there. Ugh. I suppose they can try and rope drop one of the rides....

I certainly hope they don't tier Everest with Pandora, that would be annoying.
