***Hey, Hey! Come right in and plan, OFFICIAL OCTOBER 2017 thread!!!***

Okay. Resort "issue" figured out. We are staying 10/8-10/11 (3 nights) at VGF, studio with a lake view and 8/11-8/14 (3 nights) at Kindani studio w/ savanna view. Trying to get more bang for our points. We are taking a year or two off after this. We are tying to save points to stay at a disney resort in Japan for our next trip. :)

Just changed my plans from June to October. Going Oct 1-8 staying for the first time at the Polynesian. Our first trip using DVC. Can't wait.

Alright! October is happy with your change in plans! :teeth:

You are on the list...a list that is getting pretty big! :crowded: :hyper:

Got it, sort of. Did you mean 10/11-10/14 at Kidani? Or are you also going in August?

Going crazy waiting for the travel agent calendar for October to be released.......I need my Disney planning fix!

I've just kind of forged ahead without it! :rotfl::rotfl:

So our fast pass plan is different this time around. When we went in 2014, we made our fast passes for early afternoon, some after lunch. What we found was when we arrived at rope drop we were able to get a lot of the other rides done and were kind of waiting around for the fast pass when really we wanted to go to the pool. This time I am going to schedule all 3 in the morning (unless we want night specifically). This way we can do what we want, stay, leave and can try for other fast passes since our first 3 will be finished by lunch.

At least that's my plan today.

I am with you on the early fast pass thing, this year I am going to plan fast passes and dinners, skipping the detailed touring plan. This will be our second family trip, so looking forward to not being newbies this time. Also planning a pool only day this time, last time it was too cold in November.

we have always planned our trips around FP and ADRs. it is so much better for our dynamic when visiting WDW. We tried a somewhat detailed touring type plan on our first trip be we gave it up on the second day and let dining and fp sort of guide our days.
For my solo trip in October, not sure what I will do. There are just a few things I have to do. Most of the attractions I go on, don't really need a FP for, or at least I haven't in the past. But I will use them.

Back from my March trip for less than 24 hours and I am trying to catch up on all things AK/Pandora from while I was gone since I barely checked the internet. Looks like no FP+ tiering coming to AK so thats reassuring. It was so crazy to see the new attractions in MDE for wait times while I was in the park. I finally got to see RoL last Thursday. The show did had some really pretty elements. The worst part was the theater/seating IMO. WOW was it tight! I also sat for 75 minutes because I read how crowded it had been. We chose the wooden benches since they seemed better than the concrete seats and boy did it kill my back! I have to figure something out for October when I bring my mother.

Glad I am finally able to put all my planning efforts into October!!

I am slightly concerned about the week we are going. I have to admit, I don't look at calendar's as much, now that my son is out of school. When we first booked, I did not realize it was Columbus Day weekend when we arrive.

I have been floored by the lack of availability of studio's at the DVC resorts. We were fortunate enough to get both parts of our split stay booked with what we wanted, but I was really stressing about what was going to be available. Heck, while I was on the phone booking AKL the room type we wanted disappeared, luckly the CM had placed the hold and we got our room.

I know that Sun/Mon (Oct 8/9) will be busy, but does that carry through to the rest of the week?

We had planned on a fairly lax trip, but if it is going to be *that* busy, I might have to do a bit more planning. Touring Plans show most days at 6/7 through the whole week, which I have never found overly busy.

Anyone else been on a holiday week? How was it?

We are in the same boat Oct 8-14. I expect it to be 8 out of 10 all week due to Fall Breaks. Last year was the hurricane that week, but before it was crazy from what I heard.

Should be interesting. I just tell myself "Its a trip to Disney!". We do not normally go to WDW in the fall/winter (the only two times have been to run the W&D 1/2). We have family in CA, so we make a trip out there, where it is *always* busy during Halloween. I am very excited to see how the park(s) is dressed up, and go to the MNSSHP.

We have decided to not do a TS every day, so that makes planning a bit easier.

I'm glad I read this. I already really had no interest in watching Rivers of Light - I'm really not a fan of any shows... :duck:

This just sealed the deal. If by happenstance we are able to watch, I will do so happily, but I'm not going to plan for it.

We actually added the deluxe dining this trip. DS will be almost 12 this time and we won't need to have downtime back at the resort, so the TS meals are a nice way to get a rest in AND be waited on. Not to mention, we do love to eat at the TS restaurants!

Who do You all use for planning which park for which day? I've looked at several different sites and everyone seems to be different. Another question... Has anyone ever done MK on a party day? I'm curious if the MK is a little less crowded due to guests avoiding it because it closes early or guests not coming until the party starts.
