I was at the store yesterday - i went down the shower gel, bubble bath, powders isle when i noticed a container of powder with the big ol' fluffy puff in it...
I was immediately taken back to my grandmothers house - When i was little she had one of these in her bathroom and every time i went in there, i would use this puff...I remember hers being pink...

I ended up buying the container...not because i'll use it but just because... :)

I remember those but I especially remember the smell of the powder!!! Now what did our grandmothers do with them? Puff powder on themselves after a shower?

My grandmother had one, too. I loved that thing. She put Jean N'tae powder in it. It was a silver music box with blue jewels on the top, and when you lifted the cover, it would play music.

When my grandmother moved into a retirement community, she gave it to me. Hannah has it in her room, now.

My grandmother is 96, and is in failing health. Thanks for bringing up some wonderful memories of her. :)

Ahhh, the wonderful memories your thread evokes of both grandmothers and my mother.

Until Katrina I still used my mothers that she kept on her counter in the bathroom to use after drying off and before putting on her clothes.

Down here in the hot, humid south, powder is a must for us. (us being my family). Thank you for reminding me that I must order some online today for the summer. The perfume I wear makes a wonderful powder in the matching scent.

I sure do. She also had one that played music, and had flowers painted on the top. What I remember most was that the scent was gentle-not overpowering at all. Thanks for reminding me!

Oh How I miss my Grandmother. Some of my fondest memories are of taking a bath in her "old fashioned tub". Afterwards, she would "powder" our little naked bodies before putting jammies on and getting tucked in for the night.

The smell, the feel of the powder, that big puff! I miss her so much....

thanks alot, now I'm crying! :sad2: I'm soooooooo pathetic.

Oh, I so remember those! I think my mom had one, too, for a little while. I remember seeing it when I was young, but it disappeared by the time I was in Jr. High. I remember playing with mom's powder once and getting in big trouble for "poofing" it all over myself...and my dolls...and mom's bathroom...and the rug...and the curtains... :rotfl2:

Just thinking about it seems to bring back memories of the scents - Grandma had one scent, mom had another. mmmm...reminds me of warm hugs and snuggles from them both. I wonder what scent my kids will associate with me? :sunny:

My kids will probably remember the smell of fresh boxed macaroni and cheese,

I remember Oil of Olay with my mom.

Thank you for sparking a good memory. It has been too long since I thought of that container of White Shoulders powder that my Grandmommy  kept in her bathroom.

My grandmother used jean nate. Sometimes I still see it in the stores and I have to stop everything to smell it.

I miss her and that soft pouf!

ohhh I know that container. My mother has one under sink. When I was little I always wanted to use it.

I just cleaned my grandmothers bathroom yesterday and I have to say poweder must be a grandma thing becuase it was all over in there!

OmG I remember those and I also remember the chastising my sister and I got for having the powder all over us and the room from the "puffing" party we had in my parents' bedroom!! I still remember how stuffy my nose was afterwards when the room was FILLED with powder!! :rotfl2:

Man, was my Mom :furious:
:lmao:

My mother still uses these. She is like the queen of powder. Whqt she does is empty the containers and fills them with her brand of powder. She buys them for the puff. Anyway, her bathroom is so covered in powder that it looks like CSI had a major accident in there. :teeth:

My grandmother is another Jean N'ate user! I don't think she does anymore but boy did that bring back some memories :goodvibes
