I just went to Continental and the airfare from EWR to MCO is almost $600 PER PERSON! Are they nuts?

What fares have you gotten in the past?

Last year I paid $450 for Jet Blue, and someone that I work with paid $600 for Contintental. The prices for Jersey Week are crazy, if you want to fly direct, non-stop from Newark to Orlando.

I am having a heart attack over this. I did find a fare of $220 BUT it's on Air Tran (can't choose our seats and I am flying alone with three kids) and it is out of Philly (two hours from my house instead of one hour).

Should I wait for Jet Blue or SWA? When did you buy your tix? Was it right when they released the new dates or did you buy it closer to November?

THANKS!

I bought the tickets from Jet Blue right when they released their Nov. dates, which was around May 12. I am also waiting for tickets for this Nov., but I don't know if I really want to travel to Philly, or should pay a premium price just for the convenience of flying from Newark.

OK if you guys are willing to be a little flexible with dates (Jersey Week) you can fly EWR to MCO for $118 + tax&fees = $137.60/person!!!! on CONTINENTAL.

When you go to book check off the +-3 days and nonstop buttons. The fare is avail:

Mon 10/29 returning 11/7 11/8 or 11/13

Tues 10/30 returning 11/7 11/8 or 11/13

Wed 10/31 returning 11/7 11/8 or 11/13

So basically its a weekday to a weekday vacation and the kids may miss 1 or 2 days of school but you cant beat the price!

HTH someone!

lovemylap-band - you may want to fly Spirit Air out of Atlantic City. I haven't checked the rates for your time period, but their fares are REALLY low. Good luck!

Usually, but for this November, they have been $274 EACH WAY :scared1: for the "cheap seats"!

I'm debating on booking AirTran for approximately $200 roundtrip or waiting for Southwest to open.

Yeah- Spirit was outrageous. I did book AirTran out of Philly for $220 because I had to be on a nonstop coming back (my mom and brother are staying a few extra days and I will have all three kids by myself. I just couldn't see myself changing planes with them!)

AirTran does have $175 RT from EWR but you do have to change planes. Is it worth it to you to change planes?

Connie- I wish I could change the dates, but my aunt gave us her timeshare week and it is only a Saturday check in!

Sounds like you got a great rate! I avoid changing planes whenever possible - especially when I know I can get a direct flight! To me, it's worth the extra $$$$ to have a direct flight!

I'm in "the other New Jersey...South Jersey" LOL, Newark is at least two hours from me, Philly is about a half hour. Besides, I would pay extra for a non-stop flight anyday!

I think I'm going to wait for Southwest to open their dates. Thanks for the info, though!

Have a great trip! :)

We have gotten flights < $150 RT out of BWI to MCO making the 2 hour drive to Baltimore worth it. We have also flown into Tampa from ACY for $79 each way making that 90 minute drive worth it (we rent a car and the deals are better at the Tampa AP anyway).

The only way to get < $200 RT fares out of PHY or ACY for Jersey week is to book with in a few days of those flight being listed, then the next week when the airlines see all the activity from the early bookers they raise the rates cause they know they gotcha.

We are in Northern Jersey. We booked 330 day RT NonStop $200.00 per person Delta out of LGA. We fly every year for Jersey week. We use to be able to find fares for about 150.00 RT but the last 2 years the fares have gone up.

See ya in Nov :cool1:
