Hey everyone. Question :o)

To start off, i'm a disney newbie. I'm 21 and my first time to disney was this February, and man oh man am I hooked! I experienced my first time with my wife and it was the best ever!

Now we're headed back to disney this June 10th for the weekend only, and since I've never seen the grand finale's at the parks I was wondering if you guys could help me out on choosing which one to see. I've seen MK's ending, and it was freaking awesome!!! but, now i'm stuck between Fantasmic and Illuminations! I've seen great reviews about both. A little help from the experts?


edit: forgot to mention that we're doing one of those spontaneous trips so its only a weekend. One day we will be enjoying all the amenities at the All Star Movies Resort and the other day we're park hopping galore. That's why I can only choose one "FINALE" to watch. Thanks

If you want complete Disney Magic, go see Fantasmic!

If you want you want to see amazing fireworks, go for Illuminations!

Fantasmic is my favorite, it is so different than anything that is out there!!! It is also very Disney, so there is nothing like this show to put a smile on your face and a bounce in your step !!!!!

For our family, it would be illuminations. You will see answers here for both, there are strong supporters for both shows.

Illuminations is an absolutely beautiful display of fireworks and music, no matter how many times I see it I cry.

Fantasmic has very little fireworks, it is more of a stage show and they also show video clips from disney movies on a water screen.

Don't get me wrong, fantasmic is a good show, but I much prefer illuminations. I could watch illuminations every night whereas once was enough for fantasmic.

If you are into Mickey and the characters, Fantasmic. If you are into a more adult, thought provoking, world awareness mood, see Illuminations. Either way, you can't go wrong.

1. hint: When you think Illuminations is over, don't leave, it's not over.

2. hint: Take the dinner package for Fantasmic unless you don't mind arriving an hour or 2 before the show to get a decent seat.

To me Fantasmic is disney. You have Mickey having a dream that involves all the characters, you have disney music, and disney special effects. Illuminations is good but it is a firework show, not a disney themed firework show. I would definitely have to pick Fantasmic and do illuminations your next longer trip.

I couldn't agree more with Lanie! Fantasmic is Disney Magic at its best but Illuminations will give you chills. Love them both, would be a REALLY hard choice to make.

Also, check the Disney website. If Fantasmic has a 10:30pm show and Illuminations is at 9pm you could possibly do both with some strategic planning.

For the show times:
Go to the Disney website
Under "Parks" (top left side of screen)
Pick park you want to look at ~ for instance MGM
Down the left side of the MGM screen you will see "Today's park hours" & under that it says something about park hours for the month, click on that link
It will take you to a calendar of this month but you can choose different months
On the calendar for June you will click on the 10th (on the #10) and it will show you parade times, show times, etc.
You can do this for each park

As a lifelong disney fan it was a trip down memory lane, and one the most memorable parts of our trip. look into the fantasmics package as it gives you some extra time, and the seats are great.

If you thought Wishes at MK was awesome then you would like Fantasmic better then Illuminations. I would, without a doubt, pick Fantasmic if I could only see one of the two shows. Either way, have a great trip.
