Hey Disney, please get rid of that awful______

Ellen's Universe of Energy could use some updating. Also agree with Captain EO. Might throw Figment into that mix as well.

Agree on the wasted space in Streets of America at DHS. Also think the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area can go - kids who are playing on it now probably don't even know that movie!

I think you may be misreading the intent of this thread. I think people are listing things that we all could do without, not serious suggestions on what Disney should get rid of.
Hmmmm......OP said to tell them what attractions Disney 'should give the old heave-ho' to. If they just wanted to know everyone's least favorite attraction I'm thinking they might have just asked that?

Well if the intent actually is what should Disney get rid of the answer probably is nothing. But even at that it is vague as to what the OP really meant. If he/she did mean what should they get rid of vs. what would YOU get rid of. I'm taking as the later.

Hey, Disney, please get rid of that awful notion that standing all day is good for you and for us. My family would gladly stay in the parks all day if it weren't so tiring. Fatigue makes us want to go back to the hotel and enjoy the food/drink we buy off-site, and then go out to dinner off property. Put back some seating -- with backs!
+1

The ironic thing is one of the primary reasons Walt brought us Disneyland (and everything that followed) is because he wanted a clean, family oriented park where he could SIT ON A BENCH and watch his kids! Of course, much of the Walt spirit/intent, the focus on SHOW, has long been squeezed out of the Disney we have today (which I still love and frequent, just for reasons that might not be the same as 20 years ago.)

You take what you want......while I discuss what I want on the DISCUSSION boards. The lists are amusing, it's the discussion that makes the boards interesting. Sorry if I bothered you with that.

I'm ignoring the drama :-)

I want Chester & Hester dinorama gone!! We are likely its target audience and I go out if my way not to pass it. Now if the games were free with a sticker prize as someone suggested, that'd be fantastic. But as is??? Horrible and so non disney.

As nostalgic as I might be, even I wouldn't agree with that! Thousands (heck, hundreds....maybe not even tens) of people will never wait in line to experience something like the Lumberjack Show, so some things should go!

didn't bother but I think if the intent was what should Disney eliminate then this would be as very short thread :)

Ok so the thread is what awful thing should Disney get rid of.

The poo poo plants at Pop Century. I have never smelled foliage that smells that bad. Holy cow they have some stinky plants.

We had some weird mushrooms pop up after a hurricane once they looked like upside down octopus, and boy did they stink, almost like rotted meat. But the plants at Pop Century are worse.

Under the premise this is the topic I can't think of a single item in any park that isn't utilized. I would say get rid of nothing. I know they update a lot and maybe go along those lines.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. Hey, sorry if I overthink things. Not sure I did here, but we all take something different from these discussions, as you pointed out. That's more of a good thing than a bad thing, I think. Anywho, it's all good.

Personally, I don't really care what attractions a particular person does or doesn't like. It's all personal and subjective, and such lists bore me. But get into real discussion about WDW, what works and what doesn't, and how it could/should be different/better? That's what I like. I guess a carry over from my Rumors and News Board days of yesteryear!

even going by my longer list of what I'd like to see go (how I answered it initially) there is still plenty of things for me to do. There is so much to do that even if they did get rid of things that I didn't ride and replaced it with more things I did, I'd have to stay for a full month! I think any park whether it be Disney or not everyone has their favorites and rides they skip. Overall I think Disney does a good job in balancing the rides for old and young.

Update the pre-show at RnR

Haha, so true. It is horrific acting at it's worst.

No I am dead serious about getting rid of the Speedway. Like I'd pay for a hard ticketed event to watch them implode it. Preferably with ACME brand dynamite.

I'm sorry, how do you update a smelly plant? If they relandscaped I can't imaging them pulling up the stinky plant then putting it back in.

Cap EO
Stitch
Speedway

I agree they need to update some things but Im sure its a difficult balance between nostalgic attractions and modern updates.
The princess of the year quickly fades away so putting in a Million dollar Frozen themed attraction could be a flop in a few years.

My mom had fond memories of the original Country Bear Jamboree from Disneyland (LONG ago), so while in MK we had to see it, as it's no longer at DLR (Thankfully). The most boring thing ever! The only good thing is if you need a quick nap, this is your spot.

Also, Stitch must go. That is a highlight of our first big trip to WDW, because we all remember how sick the smell made us! Makes me gag years later just to think about it!

Well the plants (which I personally don't even notice) are obviously an exception and anything else that by logic can't be "updated". I would say use logic and go accordingly. The conversation I was talking about were rides/shows which most definitely are capable of being upgraded.

Richmo.....not picking on you, just using your post as a jumping off point. Gotta be careful of the feeling police! I'll throw a word out here that the feeling police won't like. Selfish. Not that I'm saying anyone here is a selfish person. Rather, a lot of the suggestions are self centered. I think that is the wrong approach to take in responding to a topic like this. Why? Well, even if I personally don't like a ride, I wouldn't necessarily suggest it should be gotten ride of. To do so might please me at the expense of many other guests, and to the detriment of WDW. I would never suggest such a thing.

Tomorrowland Speedway is a case in point. One can say it's a so-so attraction, but that is a subjective, self centered judgement. So-so to who? You? Me? That doesn't make it so-so to all the people who like to experience the attraction.....and lots do. The attraction has a consistent medium plus line throughout the day. Ask any boy age 4-12 what their favorite attraction is and a large proportion will say Tomorrowland Speedway. Some girls, too. And it's not just about the kids that experience the attraction.....it's about the fathers that experience it with their kids. Some mothers, too. They do it to see the joy their kids experience, or to share an attraction with their son that they did when they were a little boy. Why would you get rid of that?

Sure, some say update it....but people have already weighed in on the impact the update had in Disneyland. The attraction isn't as good. Yes, in today's green age we should have a hybrid solar powered banana peel fueled race car of the future......but that isn't what kids want. They want the raw (or should I say roar) power of a fossil fueled engine that jumps to life and spits out fumes (ok, update to add flames!) when you step on the GAS PEDDLE.

No, you can't get rid of that........

My intent was to give a list of what I thought Disney could "give the heave-ho to", as stated in the original post. My opinion, and that's all it is, still stands. I think the Speedway is an outdated attraction that takes up a lot of space. You can agree or disagree with it, but I think I have a right to that opinion. I'll also point out that I'm not the only one who picked it, not that it matters. You have a right to your opinion, as well. I may not agree with it, but I'm not going to dispute your right to have it.

I don't buy the self-centered part either. There are plenty of rides I won't go on, such as Tower of Terror or RnRC. Did I suggest they should go? No. Nor would I...they're an integral part of the Studios.
