Talking to a guy at work earlier today. He tells me he drank THREE 40 ounce bottles of beer last night in about 2 hours. Then he tells me that he drove "everyone" home. He did say it was about an hour after the last sip of beer.

So, he thought, I guess, that I would be "cool enough" to tell this to. In fact I told him he was a moron! He got angry and then told me he could drive just as well drunk as he can sober.

I have no doubt he drank all that beer. I've seen him do it before. I just never knew that he was driving afterwards.

But, then, I realized, the people who let him drive them home, are just as big of an idiot.

And, the reason I post this is, he isn't the first person I know who seems to be "proud" to drive drunk. I bet I have encountered at least five people of legal age who have openly recounted their drunk driving escapades as if it was some kind of "achievement". :confused3

I don't get it at all. Especially from "adults".

Know anybody like this? Do you just ignore them? Do you tell them what you think?

I used to hear, "I don't even remember getting home last night." :confused3

But those people are in AA now, so that's something to be thankful for.

Well, when I was a teen, back 20 some years ago, I lived about 30 miles from my job. I worked late night. I can remember MANY times going to the bar after work and then driving home! I can remember driving home very FAST! I lived in the mountains and I travelled back roads to get home and there was NEVER anyone ON those roads when I was on those roads! One night... I went to a party, and when I woke up, I was in my own bed. Let's just say, that I have NEVER drank "stupidly" since THAT night! Proud? HECK NO! Thankful I didn't KILL anyone! ::yes::

However, I was a kid then, and now that I am an ADULT, no way would I do that! Not that I should have done it THEN either, but still.

People do stupid things and don't see them as stupid until something HAPPENS due to THEIR stupidity! Sad, but true!

All you can do is hope and pray that he gets caught for DUI... BEFORE he kills himself or someone else.

I love these morons who think they can drive just as well (or better) after drinking or smoking marijuana. DUH!!!!!

My parents have this nutty elderly neighbor. One time I was over there and for some reason the cops were at her house for a complaint she had and she was going off on them, ranting and raving about how they have nothing better to do with their time than to hunt down and harrass "poor drunk drivers." You should have seen the looks on their faces!

You sure do know an interesting group of people.

The people who he drove home may have also been intoxicated and didn't notice that he was as well, or yes, they were irresponsible and "idiots."

Even as a teen, my parents always told me that if I was drinking or with others who have been drinking DO NOT get in that car - call them no matter what time/or where I was and they will pick me up NO QUESTIONS ASKED and I WOULD NOT be in trouble for drinking. I wish more parents were like that since I'm afraid other teens would be too scared to get in trouble if they called their parents, so they rather take a chance and drive drunk.

I definitely don't ignore people who do this. I do tell them what I think. I also tell them what happened to me when a drunk driver was driving at night, without headlights, and smashed into my tiny car (before airbags - this happened in '87 and I was driving a '77) head-on. Thank God that an angel was placed at the scene of the accident (in the form of an EMT) and rushed over to help before an ambulance came and the jaws of life to get me out of my car. I was in and out of consciousness and what I heard the ambulance techs says was that I shouldn't have survived that crash. So, that's what I tell people. A drunk driver almost killed me because she had "one too many" at a bar and got behind the wheel. I'm sure she thought she was good enough to drive too.

Thank God that he didn't hurt anyone this time. Let's hope he doesn't do this again. It can ruin many lives, including his.

Actually, amny of the times, I am talking about the same guy.

:confused3 I am from a small tourist town. In the summer it is packed but the winter is bare. Nothing to do here but drink. It use to shock me the number of people arrested for 4--5--6th drunk driving or domestic abuse. Not any more because it is so common. Problem is in the winter with all the snow it is with snow mobiles as well as cars. Not us though, we are to busy with other things to drink. Unless we know your coming over we don't have anything but pepsi and bottled water in our house.

OMG This kind of thing really gets to me! If they want to risk their own life then that's fine but they are putting so many innocent people at risk by driving drunk. :headache: I just don't understand why people do it?? :confused3

if you wanna risk your life go jump out of an airplane or bungy jump. Doing that isn't risking my life. Don't risk mine.
