He's gone...

Oooookay. Well...I messaged a mod to have it removed from here. And the info WE recieved never said to not post info anywhere...just to be careful. And I will be more so from now on. And please do not think you have anymore of an interest in our soldier's well bein than I do. I am still NEW at this...so like I said...hopefully they will remove this

Not sure what the "Oooookay" was for. I was being honest and sharing knowledge that I have with you. You said you're new to this...I've been at it for over 12 years. Part of being a senior spouse is helping new people understand how things work.

I never said I have more interest in our Soldiers than you do but I do prove it by not posting information that leads back to them or me. Which is all I'm asking you to do.

We are part of a team. And our goal is to keep our enemies from getting their hands on information that can be useful.

.

OBVIOUSLY I didn't see an issue. And AS another military wife I would THINK you would know that this statement is highly offensive.

My intention was not to offend you but rather to help you understand your error.

Alright. Well I do understand it. Thank you for pointing it out. It was an honest mistake, I would never intentionally put my husband or anyone else in harm. Like I said, I DID message the mod team to at least have it removed from here.

Well...the time came and went and the DH is en route for his deployment.:sad1:

I will miss him for sure. But I made it through last night. I can do this.

So please keep the 74th MRBC in your prayers everyone!

***Just finished putting up my yellow ribbon...so proud of him!

People often talk about our service men and women as heroes. My daughter and 3 boys all served. I also want to point out that our pride isnt just for those in service, but for those who wait for them. All service men are always in my prayers. Every single day, and so are their families waiting for them

Operation Gratitude

Pemmincan Beef Jerky is running a promotion called Operation Gratitude. For every bag of beef jerky purchased they will send a bag to our troops.

FYI, when you send care packages, if his deployment is in the desert areas, baby wipes, and breath mints are gold. They dont get to shower often and the wipes allow them to bathe. The air is very dry, and the mints (breathsavers et al) allow them to keep a moist mouth.

The point she was making is it's still cached, so still able to be seen (along with your last name), and the other info you've put "out there".

I hope you take the advice about being more discreet to heart.

I will...I get the point she was making.

Different branches/squadrons/commands/etc have different ideas of what is and is not ok to share. Just because it's not ok for you doesn't mean it's not ok for someone else. No need to beat up on each other for having different regulations/standards in our lives.

Thank you... If there was more I could do to have it removed I would. My emotions may just be running high, but I definately felt attacked and I am not one to "play the victim".

Best wishes to both of you. As others have said, you know you need to be careful about deployment information that could affect operational status.

You can edit your own posts to remove the information. A mod doesn't have to do it.

You are correct about this. The Army words differently than the Marines... The Marines word differently than the Air Force etc. It is up to the Command for any group to add addendums as they deem necessary.

Command may add an addendum that says you can't talk about the last deployment a Unit went out on or that you can't post pictures of Soldiers etc.

But regardless of the addendums the original OPSEC must still be followed.

The OP is Army--I am Army. So Army OPSEC I am familiar with.

Never, not once did I beat up on the OP. I informed her of her error in a calm manner.

It was the way you came at me that raised my hair. I felt talked down to. But it's over...I've done all I can, so that's that.

I haven't read all the posts, but if no one has yet suggested it, make yourself a "short sheet." Get a 2 or 3-year calendar and count back from his anticipated return date. For example, if it's a year deployment, today is day 365, tomorrow is day 364, etc. On day 30, write "30/1" for 1 month, on day 7, write "7/1" for 1 week.

Select a year's worth of projects, recording one each month or week, depending on how long it will take to complete the project; i.e., on day 360 start Spanish lessons; on day 45, learn to make a perfect pie crust.

I did this when DH was in Vietnam, and the time went much more quickly than I expected. Of course, your kids will keep you VERY busy! Best of luck!

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers~ thank you to your whole family for your service. We have many military friends and know what a sacrifice to the whole family it is~

Military or not, it's not a great idea to post your last name, photo, location and the fact that you will be alone with young kids.

OP, I don't think the poster meant to hurt your feelings, I think she is looking out for you AND the soldiers. I can't imagine how difficult this time is/will be for you and your DH is in my prayers. I pray that the time goes quickly for all of you and that he is home safe and sound soon.
