He's been extended

I'm so sorry! :grouphug:

The same thing happened to my BIL, but he is going to Afghanistan.

My neighbor just left for year, voluteer to Iraq, he says because they need him (he will train the police officers), I agree, their families need them more. Really unfair.

I will keep him in my prayers.

Yet, friends in other branches are only doing 6 mo tours.
ITA! How about AF ones that are extended from 3 to 4 months and whine while your DH is doing 12-18. It hurts to hear that, especially when doing the SAME job! Dh is logistics and this is what he faces daily. He has been at his camp longer than any other person. He is a logistics officer, army reserves.

The army needs to reconsider the long tours or they will continue to face shortages I am afraid. They are hurting themselves with 12-18 months. Marines get 7 months, Navy 6 and AF 2-6 depending on the job. We do actually know several army officers who are in the same position as my DH who have volunteered to stay longer, some doing another year tour. I am thankful some want to do this to keep others home.

So sorry to hear this. Maybe it won't pan out to be another full year. Hopefully he will get some R and R. Prayers for you all.

oh that is so rough. :(

I bet you must feel like punching a few walls and kicking at the dining room chairs. :(

I'm so sorry, it is too much to ask. Your children need their Dad and you need your husband. Two years is too long.

I'm so sorry. :sad2: God bless him for protecting us and God bless your family for the sacrifices you are making for all of us during this very difficult time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope he comes home very soon.

Another military wife here. Sorry this is happening to you. I know how hard it is to be apart from dh especially the kids. Any chance he can get an R&R visit? I love my hubby and I am proud of him, but sometimes I just wish he had a 'regular' job, KWIM?

My cousins husband is Army, they were just stationed in Alaska from Texas, in February- he got home in March. My cousin moved along with the baby to Alaska, leaving family in Texas. Only to find out in May that he's going back in September for another 18 months. This will make his 2nd 18 month tour.

Thanks to your DH, and I sure hope nobody says the "he knew what he faced when he enlisted" oh how I hate that statement! When my cousin's husband enlisted it was "pre-9/11" he didnt know what he was facing

I'm so sorry..I can't imagine how that feels. Give your family lots of :grouphug: from us.

"he knew what he faced when he enlisted"
Well, they can't say that if you are an officer, but they do, and I laugh and say he was commisioned, not enlisted! I think Monica's DH is an officer too. It is amazing what people will say and what they don't understand. My DH is affected by Stop Loss anyway, and would not get out anyway for another 2 years. What bugs me is people asking if he will have to go back, like I have a crystal ball or something. Really hurts when people ask this!

I can't imagine 2 years, my heart hurts to hear that. Let your kids e-mail his AKO account for fathers day, send some digitals of you all, and do the best you can to get through it. A year is a long time, 2 seems like eternity. Good luck to your cousins husband also mudnuri.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I will pray he makes it home safe to be with you and you children and family and that year goes by very fast for him.

:grouphug: I am so sorry to hear this. I hope you know that we all appreciate the sacrifice you and the children are making at home. My BIL was gone for 13 months and has been back for 14, but the family is still adjusting to the dynamics. 2 years is unbelievable. God bless.

Ya know what, let's not turn this thread in to a debate, how about we just offer our hugs, gratitude, and love to a woman and family who need them very much right now......

I'm sorry his tour got extended. My DH was gone for 1 year and that was almost more than I could stand. I hope he returns sooner than another year safe and sound to the family that loves and misses him dearly.

Hang in there, you CAN and Will see the end of his deployment and get through this. If you ever need to talk, feel free to PM me anytime. :grouphug:

I am really sorry to hear this for you. Oh, I can't even imagine. I want to thank you for the sacrifice you are making and it is HUGE. I have tears in my eyes just thinking of how hard this would be. Two years is an exceptionally long time.

I will pray that you and your kids are able to get through this time stronger and peacefully. Again, I am so sorry that he is going to be gone for so long.

You must miss him something awful. I am so thankful for people like you who serve by waiting. God bless. :grouphug:

I'm sorry this has happened. Please know that you're in my prayers!! My dh is one of those AF folks gone for four months. He's in Cuba, and he was telling me the last time we talked that he has so much respect for what the Army does. Just try to get through today then start over tomorrow. If you ever need to vent, feel free to pm me.
God bless,
P.S. Take a look at my bible verse in my siggie and claim it. It has really gotten me through some hard times.

I am so sorry. :grouphug: You may not feel strong right now but you are, so are your kids. You will get through it.
