Hershey Park

I will be at Hershey next weekend with my Girl Scout troop.

I am nervous because we have girls who do rides and some that don't. Is there much to do for the non-riders??
I'll see you there! I'll be there with my two daughters. Maybe I can just drop them off with you, I'm sure you won't notice a couple more girls!;);)

I'm so glad for this thread! I agree that the Hershey website, while has a lot of info, does not have the insider info that I'm looking for! I am officially spoiled by the Dis! :thumbsup2Thanks everyone!

Is it easy to find the charactors like chocolate and how many are there i love charactors.thanks:cool1:

We found Reeses strolling around. The guests at HP don't make a huge deal out of the characters and we had little trouble just walking up for a photo.

Is the water park small? Can you do the park and the water park in 1 day? Is there a separate charge? Traveling there the 16th, plan on doing the late day entry that evening, full day on the 17th and drive home after breakfast on the 18th...anyone want to offer an approx itinerary?

Obviously this is just my opinion, but I would not bother to go to the Hershey Story Museum...it is pricey and relatively boring. If you wanted to check the Museum building out you can enter for free...in the building they do have something called the "chocolate lab"...this is super fun! Very hands on learning and making chocolate. You do not have to purchase museum admission in order to purchase chocolate lab tickets. Although I would recommend getting your chocolate lab tickets in advance as the classes do fill up quickly.

I will be in Hershey with my son and his family in several weeks. Can anyone give me details about any local discounts available. I will be checking out the Giant food store chain for ticket discount coupons. Any other suggestions?

I just found discount coupons at my local DQ. And, if you visit in June, the discount is better than later in the Summer.

If you are looking for chocolate world coupons...the chocolate world website has some good coupons through the end of September (example...BOGO milkshakes).

You can check out AAA because they do discount tickets also.

hey everyone, I just wanted to give a HUGE thank you to all of you! our trip was perfect , and all of your advice was spot on, as I knew it would be!

I am doing a mini trip report within my PTR in the link in my siggy!

Thanks again so much!

I think the best deal at HP is the preview night that was mentioned in an earlier post. We always do this. You can get into the park 3 hours before closing and then go the next day on the same one day pass. You pay for parking when you arrive at the preview night but then you don't pay the next day. We try to hit the gate right when it opens for the preview (they don't usually open it early) and then we hit the big rides which usually aren't too bad. Then we stay overnight and arrive at gate opening the next morning and go right to the water park (or maybe one ride on a big coaster). The water park area becomes a zoo very quickly (certainly by noon) so we find this works best. This also allows us to get out of the park at a reasonable hour for the drive home. This plan works best during the week - not so good on the weekends (Friday/Sat nights). I usually use Hilton points for the overnight stay but don't stay in Hershey itself. Those hotels are way overpriced but they are very close. We usually use the Garden Inn in Harrisburg about 15 min away - it is great!
