Hershey Park hotels?

I think it was the Days Inn across the street that we stayed at last year. It was totally fine, nice indoor pool (small but clean), adequate rooms and a nice continental breakfast. Not a ton of frills but perfect for a short stay.

I have to agree. We stayed there a couple years back an it was a nice place but if I remember correctly, it is one of the more expensive non Hershey motels.

We are going in August and staying at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott. It will be our first time staying there. Super close to the park

We love Hershey!!

That's where we stayed. The room was gorgeous with high ceilings. We'd definitely stay there again.

We have also stayed at the Marriott Springhill Suites, they even have free breakfast.

There is also the Hilton Garden Inn, which is nice too.

We try to go every year to Hershey, they have a bunch of wooden coasters which we love to ride.

Make sure you buy the kettle corn on the way out:thumbsup2

Last year we stayed at the Comfort Suites off of I - 81 and 6 miles from Hershey. Very easy commute and the motel was clean and very nice. They offer free coffee and free breakfast and have an indoor pool and a microwave and fridge in the rooms. :thumbsup2

I ended up booking a Marriott Residence Inn in Harrisburg. According to Marriott's site, they are about 9 miles away.
Has anyone stayed there?

FYI - I've stayed at the Hershey Lodge (which is nice), but I wouldn't exactly consider it "onsite" - it is a few miles away from the park.

No it's not "onsite" but it does offer a bus service wich is nice. Thay also have free mini golf ,3 pools and 3 resturants. We have stayed there the last 9years we have gone. It is our Fav. park out side of WDW. It's super clean and your kids can ride mostly everything. The only complaint we have had over the years is the actual food in the park is not the greatest.

We are triing to find a cheap(-$200) place to stay for 2 nights the end of June, It's gotten to the point that the Lodge is just to $$$ for what you get. For the same price we can do another Dis trip....hmm that dosen't sound to bad...

We're going August and staying in Harrisburg at the Country Inn & Suites.

Local here.

The hotels in Hershey proper fill up pretty fast in the summer. If you work the perimeter, you may have more success.

There are two or three new hotels, just built within the last year, which are all about the same distance to the park. They are all about 20 minutes drive.
Lickdale is a small town, there are two fairly new hotels there. The others are listed as Harrisburg but you want to stay east of Harrisburg; Grantville is another of the towns close to Hershey. Route 422, 39, 322, 743 are the main roads in and out of Hershey and you'll find many hotels, both chain and locally owned on them. Interstate 81 runs north, south, and there are two and really three exits that service Hershey travellers and there are lots of hotels at each of these exits.

We have season passes. This is the 100th anniversary of the park. There are fireworks every Saturday night and many extras for the celebration. They have just opened a four acre water park within the park which can accomodate 1000 people. It's included in your general park admission.
The entertainment within the park is special this year, lots of oldies groups playing in the different pavilions. Chocolate World is a lot of fun and it's free, except for the 3D movie which has an extra admission charge.

Hershey Park is my second favorite park. It's clean. The rides are extremely well maintained as is the park. You won't find any of the biggest, fastest, highest, record setting coasters, but that's not Hershey's thing. The rides are plenty thrilling....many wooden coasters, the Great Bear, Lightning Racer, all really good rides, plus plenty for the kids.

I was at Six Flags Great Adventure last week on a class trip, and comparatively speaking, Hershey is a bargain. You can buy discounted tickets at the local Giant food stores. You can also find those money off soda cans, but I'm pretty sure the Giant price is the best price. There are other deals, but they change from season to season.

Your park admission also gets you into ZooAmerica which is a walk through zoo with animals native to the America. It's not AK, but it's a really nice and educational diversion for the kids in the middle of the afternoon.

Hope you enjoy Hershey Park and your visit. I know plenty of people from Orlando who make it their vacation destination. :thumbsup2

Which are the new hotels? Do you mind sharing the names of them?
We have stayed at the Comfort Inn that is right around the block and it was great. We have stayed at the Lodge- the rooms were kind of drab but the free mini golf and the pool made up for it. We have stayed at the Hotel Hershey and I know people say it is really nice--didn't do it for me. Thought it was way overpriced for what it was.
We have been doing it as a day trip lately but really with the new stuff I think we need an overnight to enjoy it all.
Thanks for any info.

Another vote for the Country Inn and Suites.

Run away screaming from the Rodeway Inn and Suites. Tripadvisor and AAA gave this hotel good ratings and it was actually rather disgusting. And we're not too picky. We walked in, walked out, got an immediate refund and went to the Country Inn and Suites.

I don't know the names of the new ones off hand because I don't pay much attention to them. Also, I said Lickdale but they are a Jonestown address so they show up as Jonestown. I know there is a new one there, plus two that are less than five years old. Next time I'm out, I'll pay more attention.

It's nice to see the ol' thread still going! I'm glad to hear you all compare Hershey Park to WDW. We're really looking forward to spending a few days there. We're going in June, the day after the kids get out of school and staying at the Hershey Lodge.

Also, I'm really happy to hear about the water park addition! We're all gonna love that! :thumbsup2

I was just looking online last night because we are thinking about going on May 29 (DS9 has a weird day off, unused snow day), and we thought the crowds would be low. So I was checking on price and availability on the Hershey Lodge. It was $219 a night but what they are doing now is you can buy a package deal online throught the hotel. It included your tickets and the price difference that jumped out at me was adult ticket on Hershypark.com was 43.95 and through Hershey Lodge it was 32.95. We have only stayed there in the past because of DH's work so I never priced the other hotels in the area, so I dont know if this saving on tickets might outweigh the cost of the room or not. Still dont just begun to look at it all just thought I would pass that on. Also you get early entry into the park for the first hour if you stay at the Lodge (sound familiar haha)

We are the odd ones out, we love hershey but normally stay in the Lancaster area at a farmhouse bed and breakfast and just drive to the park for the day. We go every year and usually one day at the park is enough for us and then we like to do other things in the lancaster area. There is this little place that has 3 water slides and mini golf and go karts that my godkids and my daughter love so we always go there. And we could never be in the Lancaster/Hershey area without going to Good N Plenty at least once!

Just like Disney, I think there are many ways to enjoy Hershey Park and the area.

We are only two hours from Hershey so sometimes it is a day trip but we use to get the room for free because of DH's trade shows so that is why we started staying in the Lodge and we were hooked!

We also are not far from Lancaster and we go there often too, for us though it is a different type oftrip. That is a day trip since it is so close.

But any way you do it I think Hershey Park is a wonderful place to visit.

Thank you! It's good to hear about the Country Inn & Suites.
We never stayed there so I didn't know much about it.

I'm glad this thread is still going! Not sure if this has been posted before. You can get discount coupons at some fast food places. There are coupons for admission to the park and some other things like the 3D show. I have a ton of them because of my website, so if anyone wants one just PM me with your address and I'd be happy to send it out to you. Each coupon is good for up to 4 people. I do also know about the discount admission when staying at the onsite resort, that's probably the best discount. Also the local supermarket sells discounted tickets, but I can't remember the name! We bought them there once, maybe a local can help me out with the name? Anyway, we have planned our next trip(we went for Springtime at the Park)for Oct for there Halloween happenings. The kids had a ball at that last year. We are seeing the Playhouse Disney live show there and will spend the day after at the park. I am trying to squeeze in a quick trip in the summer. We're dying to try out that new water area. If anyone is interested I have pictures of that area from our trip in the Spring up on my website. I also have some ride pics and a ton of other Hershey info. I also have a message board similar to this one for Hershey Park fans. Here's a link to the sites:

We went to Hershey last year and had a blast! I recommend taking a side trip to Indian Echo Caverns. It was very cool.

http://http://www.indianechocaverns.com/home.html

We also stayed at the Country Inn and Suites. It was perfectly fine. The only problem we had was with the pool. The second day we were there, they over-chlorinated the pool. The smell actually over powered you the minute you walked into the lobby. :sad2:

Have a great trip!
