Thinking of booking for a night or 2. Was wondering if anyone on here has stayed at the Hershey Lodge and what you thought of it? We have stayed at the Hershey Hotel 5+ years ago & loved it, but won't pay the super high price now ($500+ night) to stay there again. The online photos of the Lodge look really nice & it says they have a new indoor pool complex- pictures on their website look fun :) Thanks for any info / advice / reviews!! :)

We stayed there many years ago (stopped when #3 was born). We loved it. It has a very casual family vibe, great pools, and family friendly restaurants.

Thanks! Glad to hear you liked it :)

We were supposed to go to Williamsburg, VA (Kingsmill) next month for acation, but the weather (way too hot & humid for us) this summer has been pretty intense & looks like it's way hotter there- so we rescheduled that trip for over Thanksgiving- I think it'll be much more enjoyable in the cooler weather. We still want to do something next month - we did a weekend trip to Mystic, CT in June & loved it! Hershey is only about a 2 hour drive from us- we've been many times when ds was young & once last yr -the week before for Christmas for a day trip. I think the Lodge looks like a lot of fun & a good pick :)

I love the Hershey Lodge. It's very clear that they use Disney as a model for their resorts & customer service. I stayed there 2 years ago (plus many times prior). The hotel is always clean, great family feel, good places to eat, free transportation to & from the park, etc. I do agree that the prices are steep, which is why I skipped Hershey this year.

We were there last month. The Lodge was clean and comfortable but I thought it was overpriced for what it was. The outdoor pool was a regular hotel pool. The indoor pool looks more impressive on-line than it does in person. Other than 2 medium size slides, it seems more geared towards preschoolers. The restaurant, Lebbie Lebkichers (?) was very good for breakfast.

We booked a packages on-line and I think we got a good deal. It included park passes and free breakfast for the kids. Did you see you can get into the park the night before your park day for free?

We had good time but one night was enough for us.

We have been to the Hershey Lodge for a long weekend the last two years. I love the Lodge. It is actually one of my favorite hotels. I just really like the feel of it. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and has good restaurants. They have great little touches such as giving everyone a Hershey Bar at check in and when they left a pack n play in our room it was fully set up with a small Johnson and Johnson travel size bath products for the baby. I love the chocolate scented soap and lotion. Both times we got discounts as part of group package so I can't really complain about the rates we got; however, the regular rates do seem steep.

We are going in November for the candy cane lane event. We are staying at the Lodge also. I paid $149.00 for the night which I thought was great (Thursday but it's Jersey week in my state of NJ so kids are off and Friday is Veteran's day). The Hershey hotel was $349.00, which is ridiculous. I am looking forward to our stay and will be following this thread.

We went last year for Candycane lane but just as a day trip. That's a great price!! But summer is so much more. When I priced (mid Aug) 1 night at the Hershey Hotel, with 2 day tickets for the 3 of us it priced at $747.09 (for 1 night / 2-day tickets) ; The Lodge would be $624.99. I hope you have a great trip! :)

So glad you like it and had a great trip! Nice to hear such a good review :)

Glad you had a good time, but sorry to hear that it wasn't that great of a hotel for you. That's disappointing to hear about the Lodge's indoor pool. Online the pictures made it look fun. Also disappointing to hear it's mostly geared towards toddlers; my ds is 9 years old and almost as tall as me, lol... Thanks for the review!

Wow...yeah I couldn't justify that...lol..but my kids have been begging to go. We've done great wolf lodge several times and they say they have graduated to Hershey park..lol. Any tips for candy cane lane?

Great rate! We went early in the season last Christmas and enjoyed the warmer weather. I like to go for the full day though, and do Sweet Lights the night before. Looks like both only open for the first time that Friday the 11th, though, from 5-10pm.

It's was fun, but.... we had to leave after just a few hours. I read up online on hershey's website all about how great they were with handling food allergies, my ds has a peanut & tree nut allergy. We get there- we tried 4 different food places & not 1 was prepared to handle his allergy- not one could provide us w/ the menus that list the allergens (online it said inform person taking order, they'll get a manager & provide you w/ the allergen listings, etc)- no one there knew anything I was talking about. One food worker actually said " i don't know if it's safe or not, but i'll sell it to you if you want it" :confused3 I asked to speak to a manager, the guy said there's no manager back there, just a bunch of kids.... We left. We tried a Subway stand, finally thinking it'd be ok. Told them his allergies, asked if it was safe to order a sub there (pretty sure it was as we've had subway here many times) the 2 older women working the stand said they had no idea what was in the stuff but said they were pretty sure there bread had nuts in it- I go to leave as I think they're totally whacko now- and the woman calls back to me "ma'am, ma'am- yeah now I remember, the bread has the soy-nut in it! so, yeah, there's nuts in the bread- soy nuts are in the bread." huh? soy nut? soy is now a nut? :confused3 "oh, but we're all out of bread anyways but I can get ya a wrap".... ugh.... Needless to say, now my ds is scared to eat at Subway ever again. We finally had to leave the park and found a burger king so ds could eat.

We wanted to get a Santa picture but the line was too long. The posted wait time was like 100+ minutes. We did get to go to the barn and saw the Reindeer though. They were cool looking. The candybar characters were dressed up in winter / christmas clothes - out and about posing for photos. My son liked driving the 2 different kinds of cars around the tracks- I believe one was a race car and the other was like the old time antique cars.

I'm sure we would have had more fun if the whole food thing didn't put a damper on everything. My son is very nervous about eating away from home because of the severity of his allergies, and well...this trip added big time to his fears. All of the other times when he was younger and we went to Hershey, we never ate in the park. We always stayed at the Hotel and went back there for our meals- which the staff was nothing but A+++ top notch, no issues at all. We liked eating outside at their pool area too.

I hope you have alot of fun and a great time! Are you from PA, too? It's only about 2 hours from me, so it's not a bad drive. We did Knoebels park on the 4th of July. That's always a fun trip- and very inexpensive. We usually go a few times over the summer. We were surprised how uncrowded it was on the 4th- we stayed all day- til after 9 pm and had alot of fun.

We stayed there over the July 4th weekend. It was nice. We had a suite. The beds were comfortable, the A/C worked. There is a little person area at the indoor pools but the bigger slides are for the bigger kids. It was VERY crowded. You could not get me in the main indoor pool. DH and I enjoyed watching people try to get across the Reese's Walk. It was like watching Wipe Out. My main beef with the indoor water park is that the hot tub is supposed to be for ages 14 and up, but there are no signs posted saying as much, so every 15 minutes or so a lifeguard would come by and tell the kids to get out of the hot tub, but as soon as they walked away more kids would get in. It became kid soup. The arcade was a rip off. Mini-golf was fun and free. The staff were very nice.

We are staying two nights to see candy cane lane and sweet lights..one at Hershey lodge (Thursday the 10th) and one at Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey (Friday the 11th) free on points. We will be at the Sheraton Friday night so we can do candy cane lane that night when it opens. We'll head home Saturday. I refused to pay Friday's rate at any Hershey owned hotel...lol

Wow, thanks for the detailed review. I'm so sorry your son had all of those issues with food at Hershey park. Makes you really appreciate Disney, huh? We are from South Jersey. We're staying one night at the lodge and one night at Sheraton on points so we can enjoy the first night of candy cane lane and sweet lights.

We just came back from a two day stay. Our entire family of five enjoyed it. The indoor pool was fun but it was very crowded and hard to find a place to sit. I would have to guess that some people were sneaking in through the open lobby doors. Nobody was checking room keys. One of my favorite things was the transportation to the park. Buses were always available and you always had a seat. In contrast to the pool, the bus driver asked to see room keys both to and from the park. I was also very happy with the wait time for the rides.

I'm local, so my advice is for park tickets. You can purchase them (for summer and Candy Cane Lane) at a discount at Giant grocery stores. The savings for summer is $16 for an adult ticket. Like Disney, an adult is 10+ years old. Also check the website, as they sometimes run specials. I received an email not long ago that was for free food (and a refillable cup) if tickets were purchased online. A deal like that may be better for you. In June, tickets purchased at Giant came with a voucher for free parking--$15 savings.

Also, the refillable cup is a good deal. It costs $10.00, but includes a drink and then refills are $1.00. This is good for the whole summer.

Have fun! HersheyPark is fun. My kids are teens and they all still love it!
