Hershey Hotel or Hershey lodge - discounts?

We are interested in going to Hershey park at the end of August and I was trying to figure out the best way to arrange this. I think we would like to stay at either of their hotels. Does anyone know how to get a great rate at either? Thanks! The best rate I got was $169 at the Hershey Lodge during the week.....Also, do their hotels really have the best prices on the tickets? Does anyone know how much they are through the hotel? thanks so much!

We got a Valentine's Day package that included breakfast last year, but I'm not sure about discounts in August. If you go to the Hotel Hershey, make it a point to stop at the little bakery counter EARLY in the morning and pick up a chocolate croissant. They are the closest to the croissants at the Boulangerie Pattiserie at Epcot that I have found . The also serve mini versions of the croissants in the big dining room, but they go quickly once they are put out, so you really have to watch for them! Hope you have a good time.

I think $169 for the Lodge is a great deal! We're going the end of July and we're paying $249 midweek but get a 10% AAA discount off of that. Tickets from the hotel directly are definately the cheapest. Adults are $30.95 and kids are $22.95. It's not Disney but it's still a lot of fun!

I agree...$169 is an AWESOME deal! We went a couple of years ago and my friend stayed there (we stayed off site...free since we had hotel rewards points) and the rate was $269 a night! So $169 is AWESOME! How'd you get such a great rate, btw?

AAA also sells tickets to Hershey Park. Maybe only the local ones, but you could check the prices on line.

No big secret on the price, just plugged in my dates (august 24-26) and that is the rate they gave back to me online! I am kind of leaning towards Sesame Place now. Kids are 8,6 and 3....from what I am reading Hershey Park is really a lot of roller coasters and 2 of the kids won't go on them....any thoughts? Thanks!

I noticed SP also has a water park while Hershey does not. Why not go to SP now while the kids are small, and then you could still do Hershey in the future?

HP does also have a lot of kids rides, we take our kids, last year 4 and 2 and they were able to go almost every single kids ride, and they are little. Both were under 36" at the time. We are going again this year, we usually wait to go until around Halloween, free Hersheys chocolate !!!!!
They had a lot to do at Hershey and didn't go on a single roller coaster because they weren't big enough. We did Sesame place last year too, but IMO hershey was alot nicer.

We've been going to Hershey since my oldest dd was 1! There is plenty for them to do even at that age-every section has a bunch of kiddie rides. My kids love Hershey so much that after getting off of Splash Mountain in WDW, the oldest(9 at the time) said "Can we go to Hershey again this summer?" After a year of planning, saving up thousands of dollars and conquering my fear of flying, all for our trip to Disney-I didn't know whether to laugh or cry

We tried Sesame Place and it was horrible. They bus a lot of the camp kids there from the city and surrounding areas, so there are a lot of unsurpervised, rude, obnoxious kids there. I've heard nothing bad about Hershey.

We've done both and I definately prefer Hershey. It's cleaner and there is so much more to do and with a rate like the one you got, I definately wouldn't pass on it. The Hershey Lodge rocks!

The price of the tickets thru the Hotel are great. I work where we sell the tickets for $32.75 for adults and $24 for children and seniors.

Hi,
I live 10 minutes away from sesame place and an hour away from hershey park. Sesame place is fun, but not is august. It is a small park, all water rides and it gets very, very crowded. I will only go there in may and june before the crowds show up. Hershey park is doable if you follow the same rules for visiting disney. Get there early, do the popular rides first and then take a break at the hottest part of the day. Hershey is very good for young kids. The park is designed so there are smaller rides in each section. The chocolate world tour is great and kids love it. I would definately do hershey over sesame place. Also there are alot of fun things to do in that area caves, lancaster, dutch wonderland. Have fun!

Hershey Park gets my vote! We've done both parks since our kids were little and have always loved Hershey!!! Sesame Place is OK, but Hershey has a nice family feel to it. We've stayed at both the Hotel and Lodge and they are great resorts! $169.00 for room only sounds very good. We are going to Hershey next weekend for my hubby's company picnic, and we're staying at a new Super 8 about 5 miles from the park. I was a little nervous about choosing this hotel, but we'll be spending most of our time at the park, plus the hotel has been open for just a couple of months, so how bad can it be? We're still taking our kids to Hershey, only now they are 24 and 26, and my daughter is married and my son engaged. Please ask any questions that you might have. Its been a few years since we were there, but I'll have first-hand info when we get back on Sunday. Hershey holds many special memories for our family. In fact, back in Sept 2004 when my daughter's honeymoon plans to go to WDW and DCL were postponed for a few days due to the hurricanes, we sent them to the Hershey Lodge for a couple of days to wait for the flights to resume flying into Orlando. You won't go wrong with Hershey!

We went to SP when my girls were 1 and 4 years old and we were very disappointed with it. It is basically a water park with one kiddie rollercoaster. The only good things were the rollercoaster and seeing the characters. It also had a lot of unsupervised kids there too.

My girls are not crazy about getting wet and couldn't swim so SP wasn't for us.

I LOVED Hershey park and can't wait to go again someday soon, if I can fit it in between our Disney trips!

Hi! I actually registered just to answer your question (long time lurker)
Hershey Lodge and the Hotel Hershey are beautiful either would be great to stay at. Although they are pricey!
I would suggest Hersheypark over Sesame Place. We have been to Sesame Place and it is ok for tiny kids. But older kids get so bored. And it is expensive (even compared to Hershey)plus there are lots more childrens rides at HP then in all of SP. They are spread throughout all of the park.
HP is also a lot cleaner
There are lots of things to do in Hershey other than the park as well. The Gardens are beautiful
We have season passes to HP and we go a lot just in the evenings and on weekends. IF you have any questions just ask.

Does anyone else know of a hotel that is VERY clean and VERY close to the park that we should consider as well? I just didn't know of another hotel that might be less expensive but clean...Thanks again for all the info!!!

We're heading to Hershey next week with our 4 year old. We plan on going 2 1/2 hrs. before it closes, to be able to do some rides after sunset (hopefully cooler) then return the next day later in the evening too. During the warmest parts of the day, we'll spend shopping or doing indoor activities.

We're staying at the Wyndham, which I hope is nice - if I can remember, I'll report back when we're all finished with our chocolate vacation.
