Hero Salute 2009

It's here on the DIS, too. That is one sweet deal. I'd like to take advantage of it but we're National Guard, not activated. I wonder if we're excluded completely. What exactly does "activated" mean? Called to active duty? Or actively serving in the NG? If we could get that deal, I'd totally go for it. Combine it with a stay at SOG and you have one heck of a bargin.

My DH is ANG too but full time so we are included. Hopefully you and your Dh will too!

I hope it is real!! That is a wonderful thing to offer to people who give so much of themselves!!

Is your DH AGR or a full time technician? I am not sure if we are eligible for this yet, have to do some more checking.
TIA.

Any time you're on orders you are activated. The deal says activated for any length of time, so if you have orders for your annual 2 weeks, you should be covered. I remember in 2003 I was full-time, but friends were weekenders. They were able to get tickets with orders for a few days at a time. Most of them didn't even have to show the orders when they picked up the tickets at WDW. They offered them, but the cm's only wanted to see their ID cards.

Are you serious? Oh, that would be soooooooo sweet!

i moderate on a mil spouse board-im the resident NG/RC expert. If you read the actual text of the disney announcement you can be required to show active duty orders-i would guess that means Title 10 orders-although i will endevour to find out and report back. While it is true that you are on orders for AT those are title 32 orders -state not federal.. AGR soldiers are Active Duty soldiers and should fall under the active duty guidelines. Federal Techs are not Active Duty-( if you are not Tri-Care eligble-) Long term ADSW or ADOS is usually title 32 and may not qualify-i think they are still defining the terms so it may change-ill see if i can get more info for ya'll.

He has a full time Air National Guard position. He crossed over from the Air Force.
So he has orders with us on them. It looks like we qualify!

that's the way it was in 2003. I think they had the same deal in 2002, or something very similar, and part-timers were able to use AT orders then also. Plus, our ID cards no longer say guard or reserve, they're identical to active duty cards. Last time around we still had the old red, green, grey, or tan cards. Not trying to put anything over on Disney, but the cm's won't have a clue. They'll accept any military ID that's got a current date on it.
