Someone suggested a note or letter from a child. I LOVE that idea. So, I'm going to have my daughter write a letter to her teacher about all she has learned. Then I got to thinking that maybe we could somehow take a story and adapt it to 1st grade and her teacher. When Dr. Suess had his birthday the teacher sent home a poem of And To Think I Saw It All On Mulberry Street. I'd love to do something similar. They learned how to use Kid Pix this year, and I just ordered it. So, if it comes in time, that would be great. Anyway, anyone got any good stories that would work that would be easy to adapt?

When I taught Kindergarten, I had my students adapt "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". It was called "The Very Busy Kindergartners"

It started with "One August morning the sun came up and Poof! 21 Kindergartners (insert # of kids in class) went to (school name). They started to learn."

Then each page went "In September they _______ but there was still more to learn." This went on for each month with the kids writing something they did that month and drawing a picture of it. for example, "In October they went to the pumpkin patch."

Then it said "In June and July, they played and played."
"Then it was August again and they weren't little kindergartners anymore." They were big first graders and there was still more to learn."

This has been one of my kids favorite projects every year I have done it and is a neat keepsake. I also attached a class list to the last page of the book.

Have fun making your story!
