I love, Love, LOVE your treasure map!! I might have to copy you if you don't mind! What an awesome idea! We are leaving the week after you so leave some fun on the ship for us!

.... Next day, we made a countdown chain and then I had to start hearing, "Why can't our vacation start now? It's going to take so long for it to come!"

So wait, wait as long as you can (although we did have fun with the countdown, etc). This time, I'm debating about Christmas (as long as there's no "big" gift for them), Mother's Day, or the day before we would leave. Will have to put some thought into this one, b/c I want to videotape a true Disney moment

You just confirmed why I want to wait!! DH wants to tell them now because he thinks it will be anticlimactic . Not sure how a child that thinks they are going to Kennedy Space Center (you and I must think alike) all year long and then is told they are going on a Disney Cruise cannot be thrilled! We're in Houston and my kids love NASA, but C'MON NOW! We're going to videotape as well. I want the "look" on their faces!

I could not hold off telling the boys we were going on a cruise for any longer, so about 45 days before I had to finally tell them. It was killing me that I could not wait until a few days before, and then say "guess what, we are going on a cruise this Sunday!". So instead, I booked them for swimming with the dolphins and have made that the big surprise. I created a Disney count down calendar with 45 tear away "pockets". In each pocket, I placed two small treats (either M&Ms, skittles, pez, or Reese's). Then, under each pocket is a letter that is revealed when they tear away the numbered flap. Slowly a message is revealed that will eventually say "in Mexico, you get to swim in a pool with a dolphin!". We are down to about 20 days (OMG) and they have figured out the first part up to the word pool. They can't wait to find out the rest of the message and I can't wait either - because then it will mean we have zero days to go!!!! Yay!

I like these Ideas I am trying to decide to wait until the last minute to surprise my girls or to let them be part of the planning. But I like the scavenger hunt ideas and the puzzle.
