Here's A Question for Everyone

I would eat or drink just about anything flavored with Yuengling, so you are not alone. Mmmmm....is it time for me to get off work yet?

Try as you might, OP, you'll never convince me that there is anything wrong in responsibly drinking alcohol. To me, responsibly = as long as I'm not endangering myself or others. So my answer to your basic question is: whenever I want.

Furthermore, I am proud to say that my children (teenagers) have heard me speak the words "I can't drive, I've had too much to drink." I felt like at those moments I was being a STELLAR role model, thank you very much. I don't wish for my children never to drink. I wish for them to do so legally and responsibly. That is what I wish to model for them.

:worship:

BTW, going to see BonJovi in Boston over the summer!! Woohoo!!

I don't drink often I used to have a glass of wine maybe 2-3x a week but honestly I find drinking just makes me super sleepy. So I don't drink much anymore.

This again????

You wouldn't like my neighborhood either. Plenty of "open drinking" going on around here. Spontaneous parties break out during the summer, with people calling you over as you walk down the street to have a drink while we watch the kids run around and PLAY....yes, just shocking.

We have a fully stocked bar, wines we've bought and put down for a dozen years or more, table wine in the fridge, beer downstairs. I have wine sometimes during the week, and occasionally a mixed drink on the weekend.

And we're having people over for Mint Juleps on Saturday, with a bourbon themed menu.

And yet somehow, we manage to be responsible citizens and parents.

Be kind and post the receipe for a mint juleps pretty please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1:

I grew up in the South, and drinking in my parents home was a very rare occurance. The both drink more now that we are all grown. DH grew up in a home (Southern Baptist) where drinking of any kind is taboo. Boy, I'd hate for them to see him put away beers during a football game :rotfl2:.

Anyways...a Southern perspective, lol.

It's funny to me to hear someone say "I grew up in the south" when referring to why someone might be against drinking. I guess I never thought about Southern Baptists. I grew up in Cajun country, in the DEEP south, and if you DIDN'T drink, something was wrong with you! (JK) Seriously though, everyone in my family drinks and every time we get together for any function there is going to be drinking involved. And to the OP's concern about drinking on Halloween  Sorry I just have to laugh because I wonder what some people would think during the three weeks of Mardi Gras we have down here since that's pretty much a common occurrence during that time!

That being said, I'm not that big of a drinker but everyone else in my family can put some down...I don't know where I came from. :confused3

ETA: When I say "family" I mean like mom, dad, siblings, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, family's other family and friends of the family. Because you know every time we have a gathering it consists of all those people...

Yes, well, I grew up in Cajun Country and my parents were Irish -- no day trip to New Orleans was complete without a stop at Parasol's. That's why coastal Mississippi came as such a culture shock. ... So close yet so far in terms of lifestyle.

I can't believe I've lived in south La. my whole life and I didn't know that about Mississippi. Crazy!

Okay, my husband and I usually have a drink or two at night to unwind...usually a little more on the weekends. Yes, we drink in front of our son. Yes, I think he should see that you can drink responsibly. Yes, I wait for him to go stay at his grandparents house before I drink irresponsibly. :lmao:

Now, on the Halloween rolling bar in a wagon idea...the group we trick-or-treated with this past year did this exact thing, and I was APPALLED :scared1:(because I was on antibiotics and couldn't participate)

I agree with the PP's that said that the ones that drink right out in the neighborhood are not the ones you need to worry about...it's the ones that hide it!

:thumbsup2
