First day in the parks. We arrived yesterday after a 2 year absence, we spent two weeks (!!) at WDW last year so we are happy to be back to DLR!

I already posted how I hurt my ankle two days before we left and I have a boot. :( But everyone has been so great! I got a scooter and that thing has been a game changer.

We woke up this morning and got to bag check at 6:15. All guests are now going through the medical detectors and we were at the gate at 6:30.

Upon rope drop we headed to Hyper Space Mointain, we LOVED it!! We then went to the following rides:

Hyperspace Mountain
Buzz
Star Tours
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Big Thunder
It's a small world
Roger Rabbit
Gadget coaster
Mickeys house

We then had lunch at carnation at 12:00 and were back at our hotel at 12:50 for a rest.

Headed back to the park at 3:50 and made our way to Blue Bayou for our Paint the Night Package. Way too over priced for what we received IMO. I got the lamb chops, they just ok. My mom had the jambalaya and she felt the same. DD got the salmon and it was the tiniest piece ever!! She was still very hungry after. Oh well, lesson learned.

After dinner we went to the Jungle Cruise, back to Hyperspace Mountain, Star Wars Path of the Jedi and then to Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

After that we got some ice cream and made our way back down main street. I saw the Blue Bayou sign and noticed folks were already lined up even though it was only 8:00. I heard that they did not allow us to until 8:15 so we were about 15 people back. We got seats on the curb and that is where I am now typing this to you all! I do have to say, I saw pretty decent parade seats up until 7:30. I would rather do that than pay $160 for a so-so meal for three.

All in all a great day even with my boot and scooter. All of the CM's have been great. It's crowded but we have seen it worse!

Tomorrow we have the frozen package (first day!) and WOC dessert package which I'm looking forward to especially in my current state.

Happy to be here!

I'm so happy you're enjoying yourself.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed with BB , the salmon and jambalaya are my favorites but I admit the lamb is a weak point. Napa Rose lamb is phenomenal though !

I'm also using an ECV due to a groin muscle pull , it's much better but no way I can do 10 or more hours walking everywhere. I've got the Frozen lunch package for Saturday and WOC dessert too so let me know how it is !

I've got my Elsa theme outfit all ready :)

Enjoy the parade it's amazing.

Please, please post a review of the Frozen lunch! My husband is really interested in doing it but I'm struggling with the price (...which is very backwards for us lol)

Weather looks amazing.

Those temps can be deceiving. We were there last week. Sunday and Monday were 105+, so needless to say we were quite looking forward to Tuesday and beyond when it was forecasted to top out at 88. Yeah, that was the temp, but it was also pretty close to the humidity. :crazy2: As a result, Tuesday on felt much worse weather wise, even though the temperatures were nominally cooler. I don't know if they do humidity forecasts, but if they do check those out, it makes a huge difference.

Waves back!
Enjoy!

We are headed to DCA at rope drop. Everyone goes through medal detectors now (which I like, with all the horrible things going on in the world I'm hoping Disney is trying to keep us safe!) and after that we are rushing to RSR or Toy Story!

Woohoo!

I entered DLR from the Harbor side on Sunday around 10am and the metal detectors were optional. They weren't even asking guests to go through them, people were doing it voluntarily. I noticed someone walked straight out of the bag check, so I asked the security guard and he said it wasn't necessary.

However I was also there on a grad nite the week before at around 6pm and they were sending everyone through.

Wow, on Monday and Tuesday everyone had to go through. We went through bag check and rope drop and around 4:00PM on Tuesday and Monday around 1:00PM. We'll see what the protocol is today! I, for one, like it and hope Disney continues to make everyone go through. It only adds a minute or two.

I like that they're actually making everyone take items out of their bags so that the CM can see the bottom of the bag. I wish that they would have someone out front announcing that bags need to be off bodies, all pockets open and be prepared to remove items. The last few times I've been I've seen guests arguing with the CMs about having to unpack their bags. I also wish they'd bring back the extra table just past the tent for people to repack their bag. Most of the time it's the bag check that's the major slow down, not the metal detector. Although on the grad nite the metal detector was so backed up the bag check line couldn't move forward.

thanks for all this, about bag check and metal detectors. Getting ready for my first day in the park :)

That was not our experience last week. We entered the park twice a day on harbor side: at opening and in late afternoon. In late afternoon, when crowds were lower, everyone was going through the metal detectors. In mornings when it was much more crowded, it was random. Cause, you know, those who intend to do harm would only make the attempt when it's not so crowded.

In the end, it's all just a dog and pony show any way, designed to make us "feel safe" without actually making us safer. So in that respect, I hope that going through the metal detectors remains a function of how crowded it is, so that there might still be a chance of avoiding some needless delays.

I go to DL 2-3 times a week. Sometimes I arrive for rope drop, sometimes mid-morning and sometimes not until early evening. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when security makes everyone go through the detectors and when they don't. That's the point though, they don't want anyone casing DLR security measures to be able to discern any kind of pattern.
