Here now......

We'll be there next week too, and while I'm anticipating big crowds, I'm hoping that since a lot of LA schools are back in session that it won't be too horrid. I can dream ;)

Do you know what districts will be in session? I have been told that most schools do not resume until after Labor day, except for the year round districts which there are few and far between. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Also, don't forget that the summer fun passes! the first use has to be by the 23rd, and must be used in 45 days. So anyone that has leftover days from the beginning of the summer is running out of time.
Not to mention school is starting soon, so trying to sqeeze in one last trip can also crowd the parks.
you mean those 99 dollar passes will be over on the 23rd? Oh man if this is true this made my day. that and some schools back in session may make the parks a bit less crowded !!

Congrats on the promo, we will be in the parks all next week so they will try and find you.

Jack
Jack, are you bringing a lap top with you? or acess to a computer? I would love to hear from you how the crowds are and wait times! I know you go real soon now :) Im excited for you !!!

Someone posted some schools in the area (LA area) that would be starting the week of the 17th. At least I think I saw it here...I have checked some Anaheim schools, and unfortunately they don't start till the end of the month.

Thanks Jack I appreciate it. I will do the same for folks going after me :)

We were there the 8/2-8/7 and thought it was manageable. Mornings were great, it started getting pretty buys around 11am. The longest wait we saw was Splash at 110 mintues at one point. Space seemed closed more than it was open, that was a little irritating.

We got a great seat for Fantasmic around 7:30pm with chairs.

Go on a Saturday... tell me what you think on the crowds... :)

projected guest attendance on sat is the lowest of all 7 days with Sunday-Monday being the highest Projected guest attendance of the week. Friday and tuesday as #2 and wed thurs right behind it. BUT Sat is still in last place... IRONICALLY...

now you tell us!!

We were just there Sunday and Monday. It's like everyone has posted.....
BUSY!!
We did the best we could, but in the end....we went back to the hotel for the pool:)
And, a cold one:rolleyes1

This is the approach we followed last week and it wasn't too bad. Rode 6 or more rides by mid day with 5 to 10 min waits at most. Pulled a few fast passes and came back and rode them later in the day. I must say I was surprised when on our last day the Soarin Fast Pass line was past Taste Pilots Grill. Never seen a FP line before... Most of the time we just didn't go back at night, watched fireworks from our room a few times, but wasn't planning on dealing with the fireworks crowds with two little ones anyway. One thing to note, many big rides were down during the week. One day both Splash and Space Mountain were down, then Matterhorn. I was surprised at this, but I've never been during the Aug so didn't have anything to compare.

Now Legoland was even worse! They didn't open until 10am and all rides had 60min waits by noon. Not worth it so we left and went to the beach! Don't think we'll go back there again.

Oh really?Bummer, I don't know when you were there, but we were at Legoland on Wed. 8/5 and it was not bad. We hit the bigger rides right at opening and had maybe 5-10 minute waits. The little water park area was the most crowded, but we had no complaints about the wait times for rides...except that Skycruiser (I believe that is the name) line was horribly long, uggghh and so not worth the wait. I'm so glad we did not wait for that new Lost Kingdom ride, we hit that one first thing. I thought it would be like a cross between IJ and Buzz Lightyear...LOL...not. The kids were not disappointed though and I guess that is what matters most!

We just got back 8/8-8/11.
Saturday we were there at 8am with low crowds and we were able to walk on many rides or wait less then 5 minutes (Snow white 2x, Alice, Teacups, Dumbo, Mr Toad, Star Tours 2x, Matterhorn 2x, Small world, Splash, HM 2x, and Jungle Cruise all by noon). Sunday was busier, Monday was *insane* from 8:15am on, Tuesday was a tad less busy but still crowded. We go every year around this time and this was by far the busiest we've seen the parks.

We want to go on Saturday, but we're blocked out...oh well. We're just going to plan for the worst and hope for the best kwim.

It's summer. It's nearing the end of vacation for many. It's Disneyland. It's going to be crowded. The later in the day, the more crowded it gets... Until after the fireworks.

The Summer Fun Pass does not expire of the 23rd. It must be used for the first use by the 23rd. The holder then has 45 days to use it 2 more times.

we went to legoland last dec, and it was dead. the kids didn't realy like it after going to DLR and DCA. The price was really high I thought. We won't be going back again.

I don't think that is correct Jack. I posted the question a while back here on the boards, and most schools start either in mid-August or late August. Very few schools start as late as after labor day.

I agree on the price, it is too high. I only go when I have the buy adult ticket/get free child ticket.

AND crowds DIDN'T thin out in the late afternoons/evenings! They just kept COMING!

We're at the parks this week and that has been our experience too. Our first day was Sunday and got there first thing. So far, those first two hours from 8am to 10 am have been GOLDEN. We do the FP thing and take a nice long mid-day break - usually leave around 1:00/1:30 then come back around 6 or 7 . I have been surprised how it's still so so crowded! Except for maybe the last half hour you can get on rides without fighting huge crowds and standing in long lines.

Interesting. Having done this time of year more times than I can think there has always been an abundance of kids, more than just the tag with mom and dad type. If you would please reference your thread I will be able to find out what districts and make call.
I expect when we are there next week the parks will be jammed, but I could be wrong and that would make me very happy.

Jack

We're going August 20-21, staying at Paradise Pier. Expecting the afternoons to be busy. Will try to get there opening both days, and on day 1 will take a few naps at the hotel when its super crowded.

We did not really like the fireworks show this year- my boyfriend was obsessed with the last one, and feels this one does not compare. I'm happy to get a little break from the fireworks though, as I hate the crowds and usually get into an argument with some rude person bumping into me.

If the Fantasmic Dragon is not up, we probably won't see that show either. We have AP's and have seen the show hundreds of times. The crowds pushing and shoving is just not worth it after a while. Takes the fun out of it.

So, that will leave plenty of time for the major rides, taking photos, and seeing a few shows, like Aladdin.

Good luck to all going on August!
