Here now, what's shocked me about FP+

Were here now and the most interesting thing about FP+ is

#1 - How many times people line jump into FP line and are kicked out at the next scan point...

#2 - CMs know what your FPs are, DH (who is clueless as to what our FPs are) tried to FP and a CM was like "nope you don't have this one but you do have... at this time"

#3 THE LINE TO FP KIOSKS!!! OMG!!! (the kiosks being where you get your additional FPs)...

#4 how many times I've skipped my FPs because lines were good and switched them on my phone while walking (even inside the window)...

The line jumping for FPs has been a problem since they started doing them. I remember people doing that all the time. I once watched someone jump out of a soarin' line and run up the FP line to be told to return to the line. I'm sure he was about 45 minutes back. If he wasn't able to get where he was originally standing, he probably had a 2 hour wait!

I've seen line jumping before .... But not often and didn't see it a single time during Easter week this year! The worst was when a family of four with two young kids went under the rope at K Safari and got away with it because the second scan is not being used. They do this at Splash too...

I did get in a very long kiosk line once to see how it went ... It actually only took 5 minutes and I wound up getting two FPs ... The CM handed us a Philharmagic paper FP and we booked Laugh Floor. Both of these would usually be unnecessary, but Easter week had 30 and 45 minute waits for them - so it came in very handy! Well worth the 5 minute wait at the kiosk.

That's really disappointing. Whose brilliant idea was it to make people wait in line to avoid waiting in line?

How long have you been there? I heard crowds were really low this week.

I actually find a lot of humor in the idea of people waiting in line in order to avoid waiting in line. As with everything at WDW, I guess it is a timing issue. If you get there at the right time, it probably isn't bad. But if you don't, then it is. I remember the first time I used the old FPs. I discovered that while they were nice to have, the lines weren't anything I wasn't willing to wait in (except Soarin' which was about 2 hours at the time). I have never minded standing in line at parks because that's what I've grown up doing. I just choose wisely based on how long lines are. I have always tried to attack the parks with good strategy and timing...sometimes I"m successful, and sometimes I fail miserably!

#3. Do you mean the lines are crazy long? That isn't cool. Not everyone has smartphones. Is it an issue everywhere or just MK?
Does anyone have a photo of this?

#4. Can you tell me which rides and attractions you are fine you don't need them for? And maybe what time of day this is happening? I am finally trying to get serious about FP+.

During Easter the kiosk lines were only long sporadically. And even when it looked long, it didn't take long. We stood in the one in fantasyland ... The ropes switched back three times and two switchbacks were full, but it only took five minutes and saved us a lot of time in line for the attraction....

Additional fastpasses (4th and beyond) cannot be made on a smartphone. Must be done at a kiosk.

Photos have been posted on other threads. But they can be deceiving as they are but a still picture of a moving process. You would need someone to report now long it actually took them to wait in that line for an accurate assessment. Some photos, I was surprised when the person who posted mentioned the corresponding wait time. I would have assumed much longer by the line in the photo.

We saw a lot of people trying to use their MBs to get through the FP line when they didn't have a FP. A lot of them seemed confused though, not hardcore line jumpers. Maybe they thought that's how you get in and there is no way that loonng line over there was the real line ;)

The kiosk lines are nuts. I've had them move at different rates. Some fast, some slow. Depends on the setup and what people are trying to do and how lost they are and how much help they need.

But wouldn't you need to visit a kiosk to do what OP said she did in #4? I'm still learning.

No, if it is a previously scheduled FP+ (one of your 3 initial ones), you can change the time or experience on your phone.

Kiosk lines depend on the setup of the kiosk. If they have one line and the next person goes to the next available kiosk, lines tend to move much quicker. If there is a line behind each individual kiosk, then your wait time all depends on the people in front of you.

With the paper system, I was almost always behind either the person who didn't know how to use FP, the one who jammed the machine, or the school group chaperone getting FPs for the entire marching band :)

You must have had some serious bad luck. I never had an extended wait. And if I saw someone feeding in a big pile of tickets, I jumped into another line.

Now you have to wait behind people deciding which ride and what time they want. Before it was stick in a card and grab the ticket that came out.

That's pretty cool they can help you figure out which passes you have if not everyone in the party knows.

And glad about #4! That's good to know for shorter than expected lines or I if don't feel like riding something anymore.

Switching FP can be done on phone or at kiosk. Useful when the line you thought would need a FP turns out to not.

No, not everyone has a smart phone. But many people do.

I was exaggerating *a bit* ;)
