Since this post is re-circulating...I will chime back in for those who think we had no business being in the parks with a sick kid.
I had taken my DS to the Dr his first day. We were told by a DOCTOR that after his vomiting ended and no fever, he would not be contagious.
His vomiting ended the day before we even got on the plane. He never had a fever. He just didn't feel well.
I would NOT have taken him into the parks with active vomiting or fever. He woke up feeling fine....then as he got run down and tired just didn't feel well. The rest of the week, DH and I just didn't feel well. No throwing up and no fever, just felt yucky and no energy and no appetite. The first day we were sick we stayed in the hotel just to rest and feel better. I can say the dining plan was a waste for our family who just didn't feel like eating!
Do you know how many people were walking around coughing all over things at the parks?
One man on a bus kept coughing right into the back of my head without covering. Does that mean he may have been contagious and should not have been on that bus? Who knows, not for me to judge.
I was irritated about the lack of basic manners with covering a cough...but that was it. Kids were sneezing all over without covering their sneezes. I think those things that actively spread germs onto every surface is likely more contagious than what my family had,
considering we weren't throwing up in the parks or coughing or sneezing on anyone.
So to make a long story short, yes we didn't feel well, but not sick enough to ruin our vacation. We made the best of it and went with the flow and missed out on things so we could rest more...but I wasn't complaining about it either. My biggest disspointment was not being able to indulge in all the junk food I had my heart set on! My whole point of the thread was to say no matter how much you plan and plan, you can't control everything. We go into the parks knowing it's one giant germ fest and we make sure to practice extra good hygiene and hand washing.
