Here Now Report - MLK Weekend

You might think that 50 sounds toasty, but if it's a breezy day at the parks and if you're in the shade, figure on being "chilly". We moved down here from PA and we have spent some downright cold days in the parks -- wearing two sweatshirts, jeans, etc. or a heavy sweater over a turtleneck will do if the sun stays out.
That's the best thing about Florida in the winter. The sun is surprisingly warm if the wind is calm. Tomorrow night is to be the coldest yet, and will be in the low to mid-30's but if the parks close early, that won't be a problem.
It's a whole different feel once the sun goes down. ;-)

That's what I'm afraid of, we're getting up early, and going to MK, my birthday and my niece's birthdays, I'm hoping for low crowds, but planning for VERY cold weather, as it'll be about 35 when we leave my house! It's cloudy now, and cool, so hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow, if not, I guess i'll stay bundled up!!

Thanks for the report...we leave saturday...I am definitely bringing the sweaters/jackets.. but I do admit that 60's is great weather during the day. Its at night and in the early morning that I think we would need the jacket...other than that a sweater will be what we are bringing.

Tomorrow its suppose to be 8-10 degrees in the morning here in alabama...anything is better than that lol

I'm bringing several pairs of the 2/1.00 stretchy gloves they have at Walmart/Target. We were there in January 2006 and I was so irked I had to spend $6 on them at the park. ;)

They were selling like crazy, people really underestimate how chilly it gets there.

I agree, folks do underestimate how cold it gets when the sun goes down. My hat/gloves/sweats are all packed. Heck I even pack those fuzzy sock sippers for the evenings in the room when I'm cold.

I'm finishing my packing today because we leave tomorrow! They're predicting a high of 15 degree here so the 60's in FL will be just fine. I always pack a mixture of clothes for a Jan. trip and we usually use everything.

OP, thanks for checking in. Don't you just love the walk-on status of most rides? I was at MK last week and did not wait for a single ride all day. I had squirreled some FP sets for Space and BTMRR but wound up bringing them home as souvies because I never needed them! The only FPs I got and used were for Peter Pan. In spite of the low low crowds it had a 40 minute stand-by. :scared1:

love the weather when it's cold in disney!!! i get to wear all my disney sweathshirts and fleeces. i love to get the handwarmers @ walgreens, they're great and they last a long time. when we go to the nightime shows we bring our disney blankets to cover up with too!!!

Thanks for the info! Im sure it will start to get more crowded tomorrow and Saturday! We are leaving Alabama at 6am in the morning heading to the world! Maybe it wont be too crowded!!!

Thanks for the report. I leave on the 22nd for another short trip.

Thanks for the update. I'm hoping the crowds won't be as bad as I am imagining but we will be happy just being there. As for the weather, 50's I can live with - these below zero numbers I can not!

See you all there in 2 days

We were at Magic Kingdom Tuesday and everything was a walk-on. We were able to stay on some rides twice.

Were at Epcot today, walked on Soarin and most other rides. While it was cool, jackets and jeans, it's -22 regular temp. in MN so we will take this anyday.

For those of you at MK today, was the crane still up taking downt he Christmas lights? I am hoping it will be gone by Sunday when we arrive!

We leave tomorrow afternoon. we do not usually check bags for a short trip (5 days) but this has proved to be challenging with the extras of sweatshirts and sweaters. but i did only pack one bathing suit... i am still hopeful it will warm up.

but as previous posters said- i am thankful for 60's. Some schools have already issued delays for the am due to the cold. It is about 0 here right now. It will get much lower tonight.

safe travels everyone!

We are leaving Georgia at 6 am tomorrow morning for the weekend. I'm packing long sleeved shirts, a sweatshirt and a quilted vest, along with some of those cheap stretchy gloves from WalMart. I was hoping for 70's this weekend, but I'll settle for 50's and sunshine.....at least we'll be at Disney!

Also leaving DC behind for a long weekend! I think I'll DVR all of the craziness and go to Florida instead. Traffic was horrific this morning, and it's only Thursday. Tomorrow and Monday are gonna be terrible for DC...but warm and sunny for me in WDW! I'll take 65-degree queues in a heartbeat over 20-degree DC traffic. :drive:

I was at DHS today in the main store up front and I could not beleive how many people had short sleeves and shorts with flip flops on with no jacket plus they were complaining "this is supposed to be FL. why is it cold". Uh yea it is FL but we do get the artic air that comes in from Canada too every once and a while. They had to fork over money for sweatshirts/jackets. So I will tell everyone now going within the next few days pack a mixture of pants, shorts, sweatshirts, long sleeved shirt, short sleeved, and light jacket. It is supposed to be near 70 starting Sunday so it will be warmer during the day but in the 50's at night but no where near what tomorrow and Sat will be. I think 90% of this board would take 50's and 60's anyday. LOL. Everyone enjoy thier trips.
