Waaah! We got here Friday and it's been raining ever since, not a light rain...a constant heavy rain. It's miserable.

We managed Hollywood studios and epcot for a minute yesterday, but our ponchos are no match for the weather.

We went to a movie last night. My 5 DS has a small cough.

Suggestions please... !

Have you visited the Community room. They may have some extra activities due to weather? When it was so cold one January 2009, we went over to the community room at AKV Kidani with our then 5 year old DGS. The CMs there got him interested in some African board games, and he and we had a ball!

Oh no, that's terrible! But I say dose your son with some vitamin C and cough meds, pack up your ponchos, and try Magic Kingdom. It's the park, I think, with the shortest distances between attractions, so hopefully the puddle jumping will be kept to a minimum. Take your time, and focus on the indoor attractions, like Mickey's Philharmagic, the comedy show, etc. Even the train will keep you out of the rain.

I hope your son's cough doesn't get worse and the rain stops!

My best rain suggestion is to wear waterproof shoes if you have them and take extra dry socks with you to the park. I can handle getting wet if it is at least warm outside. But I HATE walking around with wet socks! Dry socks make all the difference in the world in my attitude on a rain day in the parks.

Is it the sideways driving rain? One minute and you are completely soaked?

Sorry this is happening to you!

I see it may get lighter by Wednesday - I hope it changes quicker than that for you.

If it lets up at all, I think Epcot is the best park for a somewhat rainy day. Most of the queues and attractions at Future World are indoors. You just need to make a few mad dashes in the rain to get from one to another.

Bobbiwoz' suggestion to check out the community hall is a good one; hopefully you are staying somewhere that has one. You can even borrow board games and take them back to the room.

We prefer Epcot on rainy days. You can spend a lot of time indoors if you need to.

Don't forget that you can check out DVDs from the hall and there are game arcades and DTD. Sometimes it's just nice relaxing in your room or spend some time checking out the resorts.

Have you thought about the indoor park Disney Quest at DTD, right across from the HOB.
Another suggestion, take a ride over to the Gaylord Palms resort, just across I-4. Three acres of under glass area including a mini-Everglades, St. Augustine, and Key West.

We have been visiting the World in Aug., so we feel your pain! Use an umbrella, even if you're using ponchos. Somehow keeping the rain from beating down on your head makes a difference! Also: remember to laugh. I have a great pic of my kids at the Epcot monorail station from this past Aug, totally soaked from a rainstorm. And you know what? They're all smiling.

How did your day go? We're here, too. Today ended up being such a fun day for us with the way the rain lightened up. I hope yours did as well!

Do the monorail loop. Shop, have lunch. In the evening you can see fireworks and the water parade from grand floridian or contemporary

Is it still raining down there? We left yesterday and it wa pouring.....to the point I was concerned that our flight would be delayed. Only advice I can give is buy umbrella's versus the ponchos. Have fun, do inside rides etc.

Pouring down rain definitely sucks but if it doesn't let up you just have to go out knowing you're going to be wet. Ponchos, umbrellas & wear flip flops so your feet don't prune up. One time we went & it poured like that for 3 days straight and we tried to wear our sneakers...big mistake. They were just a water logged mess & my feet were totally screwed up from living in wet shoes.

As another posted mentioned how about trying indoor activities at Disney Quest in DTD?! It is an extra admission fee but at least it's inside & covered.

Thanks for posting this question. The long range forecast for our trip is not looking good right now.

Keep the faith - these weather guys are wrong most of the time, especially as far out as we are! Or so I keep telling myself.....and watching every weather forecast out there!:surfweb:

If your in a 1 BR or larger . Fill the jacuzzi tub and put some water toys in there for ds5

Bubbles from the kitchen too.. this is a fav activity never missed while on every trip!

Also I second Epcot, get rain coats, and water shoes, and pack towels, and sweat shirts in a back pack and go to the park. Go inside innovations, (section with) living with the land, and/or living seas with Nemo and hang for an hour or 2 in each.

I wouldn't go to AK in the rain, and my 2nd to last chocie would be MK, but the other 2 parks are great in the rain, as long as it is not too cold.
.. Also Swimming in the rain, as long as no thunder is a fav past time too..

Thanks everyone. Our day got better and we survived. The forecast had MNSSHP as a washout Monday night, but it ended up being perfect so that made up for a lot of our lost time. DS5's cough went away too :)

lesson of the trip for me: umbrellas win over ponchos

thanks again!

Drink around the world. My DH and I go bar hopping at the resorts. Only works without having kids in tow, though. :drinking1
