Here now, and here is the problem

I tend to agree with the above posts. When we were there in October after nearly 7 years (average time between visits)…I absolutely LOVED the new system. Yes I was familiar with WDW so I was able to plan which parks on which days. Still I got Park Hoper to enjoy EMH in MK til 1am. I booked our WDW vacation just two weeks out! I booked FP+ one week out (before tiers) and got EVERYTHING I wanted. AND, was able to change a bit on day of, no prob. PLUS I was able to get dining reservations a day or two before for everything including Le Cellar, Hoop De Doo and Cal Grill, Ohana etc., perfect main eating times i.e. 7pm dinner, 1pm lunch, 9am breakfast. I have never never been able to get those times or ressys before. Never.
There were many many glitches with the blue lights, "no you don't have park passes, no you don't have FP, no your room key doesn't open sorry, etc." The cast members were absolutely accommodating, polite and understanding. iPhone proof was and absolute MUST. Then they just pulled us aside clicked an iPad, apologized and said "come on in!"
During our time there (October 27-30).. we NEVER ever waited in a line. Never!
Standby lines were nearly non existent. Maybe 15 minutes tops. Anywhere.
We had a freekin BLAST and had a relaxing, non rushed, world class experience! Plenty of down time to swim and nap.
I guess what I'm saying is this 2013 trip was by far and wide the BEST because of the new system! Glitches and all.
Bottom line for me is off season, off season, off season
.
I understand that this is not possible for a majority of travelers…sorry for them.
I do believe as I've said before WDW is a capitalist organization. Meaning they will do what they must to maximize profit. It is their prime motivation and corporate chatter obligation to shareholders. Its the system we live under.
I can promise you that when all the complaints are in they will make you pay EXTRA to ride without lines till your hearts are content. Thats how EMH came about to get you in the resorts. Thats how PH happened to get more $$ outa you and thats why Tom Cruise can stay in the castle and the average Joe can't.
All in all people a vacation is what you make out of it and I think MyMagic rocks and there ain't no going back. The 33,000 acres is what it is and we all love it for 1000 reasons. Thats my 2 cents.

SO what you are actually saying is that your trip was a blast and had NOTHING to do with the new system, and everything to do with "off season, off season, off season"

Seriously, I don't see how you could possibly make those two remarks in back to back sentences and not see the obvious contradiction/irony.

I'm here now and guess what, the sky is not falling. The parks are crowed, but so far fast pass plus has worked great. I do think the lines for fast pass are bigger now, but I also think they are letting more fast pass people through and making stand by wait longer. I understand the people who are upset about being limited to 3 fast passes a day, but my thinking is lets just wait till the final roll out to see what it's like. Right now is still prelim so to base any decision on fast pass plus is premature. The best thing about fast pass plus is I don't have to get to a park at rope drop to get a fast pass, I can get to the park 1 hour after it opens and still be set for the day. Some people on this board would say I'm lazy and don't deserve fast passes for head liner rides since I did not get to the park at rope drop, but fast pass plus has actually made my disney trip better so far.

Sooo, what you are saying is Fast Pass people have to wait longer than before, and Standby people have to wait longer than before.

Wow, sounds like a GREAT system. Total improvement ???

And of course, your second point assumes you will be able to get the time slots you want when 100% of the people are using the system. You might just find yourself only having Park open FP+ times. Enjoy.

When did "set for the day" become 3 rides?
Something has gone seriously awry.

And this is just tossing this out there.. but its a theme park.. aren't there supposed to be lines?

*turns around and covers eyes, waiting to be shot down by the debaters * LOLOLOL

The thing that's most worrying is that the FP+ system is only rolled out to a minor percentage of guests, and it's already making lines longer.

If it's rolled out to everyone like this, you'll essentially be scheduling a time to stand in a standby line, and the standby line won't have a prayer of delivering a reasonable wait time for the attraction.

One more thing...

FP+ PR -, Disney will NEVER, I will repeat it.... NEVER make every single person happy.

I prefer the old way, but its because I grew up with it.

But seriously though, grabbing my popcorn.

Ugh one more, sorry.

There WERE limits even with fp-. One every 2 hours for all 4 parks or until your time came through. Yeah there were a heck of a lot more... but when i would be on my shift for soarin I couldn't just hand out FP- because I wanted to. They had to get them their selves or have a cm do a magical moment for them.

Don't even try to argue. Worked there. Lol

So have Disney announced that FP- is going away?

Yes, in fact they have. Disney has said that the legacy FP machines will go away once everything for MyMagic+ is fully up and running. It's strictly a technological issue. The legacy machines only read cards with a magnetic stripe. And Disney is moving quickly to ticket media that don't have a magnetic stripe (RFID bands, cards, etc.). The current wave of RFID tickets have a magnetic stripe simply because we're in a transition period where people still need access to the legacy FP machines. At a Dine With an Imagineer lunch I went to, the Imagineer said that Disney looked at the option of retrofitting an RFID reader to the legacy machines, but ultimately deemed it too expensive an option for this testing/transitional period.

Bottom line is the legacy FP machines that spit out paper FPs will be gone sooner rather than later. What still remains unclear is if the FP+ system will have a same-day component similar to the legacy FP system.

There were limits, but guests were able to work the system by using FPs after the time listed. I think the people who did that are now feeling the pinch more than everyone else, because they not only have fewer FPs on hand, but they are being held to a strict time frame.

I never understood how the collecting worked while it was still available, so I'm used to only using a few FPs a day, and am used to returning during a set time frame. When I tested FP+ last year it was no big deal to me.

Ummmm, yeah. Longer fastpass lines, longer standby lines. Sounds wonderful.

Please keep in mind that it is Thanksgiving week, one of the busiest weeks of the year at WDW. I have had many, many FP- waits in the past that that were longer than they should have been, which in turn backs up the standby line. With the exception of Safari at AK (I believe the ride had been down for a while), our FP lines were no different than prior trips during busy times. Are you at WDW right now? Have you even tried FP+ yourself? You can express your dislike of the concept, that is fine, but why do you feel the need to discredit people who liked their FP+ experience...the people who are actually in the park using it right now.

Okay thank you for the explanation. I really don't know about the official announcement. If that is the case then I like it even better. At least everyone will be at the 3 FP base and not double/tripple/... dipping at the same time as well. Disney rolls out a test and introduced strain to the FP system, of course they will adjust it as they work on the rules.
My take on this is that people who wants to go still will adjust to it and the people who hates WDW now since they cannot ride the SAME rides 4 to 6 times will leave since their perceived value is gone.

The other poster is just assuming that everyone should know everything there is about Disney for all people who comes here. This is the problem on this forum. People have an obsession on the product known as WDW and think everyone should be updated as they are about it. Guess what? Not all of us know everything and that is why I said I love FP+ as it is now and we will wait and see if it's better or worse.
Flame away people. For all those people think I'm a troll, goblin, cheater, whatever in your mind. Disney sold a product and if you don't like it and it's your job to hate the person who still like the product?

Go figure that one out.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree with you. Not all of them have used it and yet they kept trying to put people who love the system down.
The more they are afraid that they may need to adjust their vacation styles the more they think they need to find points to hate the product. I get the point that they don't want to vacation unless it's their way, and I'm okay with it. What I don't get it if someone dislikes a product and everyone should hate it too. If they cannot reason with logic then it's cheater, troll, kool-aid drinker.

The collecting worked the way they wanted needs lot of work and research.
You also need to plan standy-by line mix to fast-pass collecting together.
Those 4 to 6 SAME ride people knows it, yet they claim that it's natural for FP- to work better than FP+.

oh goody... LuvFFPlus is awake !

Let's see 96 posts in 21 hours (their first post ever was yesterday, Friday at 12:44pm and it's now 9:19am on Saturday). Maybe if he/she keeps pumping out post after post after post - we'll all just accept that his/her "logic" is 100% correct and agree that FP+ is a wonderfull idea !!

oh boy... :headache:

I know right ? The logic is ... well, lets not call it logic.

I could have sworn the implication yester of the "Has Disney actually said the FP- is going away" essentially meant 'You have no proof that FP- is going away, which would be bad, but don't assume that since you have no proof, and since you don't your point is invalid'

Today its "Oh since you have proof that FP- is going away, I like it even MORE now." Hilarious.
