We are Disney newbies and took our 3.5 yr old boy and 2 yr old girl today with our family that we are visiting in orlando. We did Animal Kingdom today. Brief report- Intended on rope drop but missed it by 10 minutes. Arrived at AK parking lot at 8:50, easy to park, easy walk to entrance, only 1 person ahead of me in security line and walked straight through turnstiles with no lines. Probably got to turnstiles at 9:05 so missed the rope drop. Walked at decent pace straight to K. Safari ride. Standby was 15 minutes at 9:15 so we stood in line and it went so quickly. Pangani trail took much longer than I had scheduled. I think we spent a full hour on the trail but my 3.5 yr old loved seeing all of the animals. Early lunch at Flame tree barbeque at 1100. Quick, easy, nice seating area and food was good. Saw some characters (Winnie, Tiger, Eoyore, Goofy and Pluto), rode triceratop spin, dino playground, loved the dig area and fantastic for a cool down, then did Lion King show (arrived 5 min before show and got in) which they both loved. Missed most of Asia but next time. We left at 2:30. 2 yr old needed nap so we are done for the day. Staying far offsite so we can't travel back and forth this time.

I was so worried about the crowds after hearing everything on these boards from early May visitors but I didn't think they were bad at all. I have nothing to compare it to but my husband did singe rider line at Everest at lunch and waiting less than 5 min. I think. I found the morning crowds low but afternoons I had more trouble with my double stroller meaning crowds were larger. I especially found the 9:05 arrival time perfect. No lines at turnstiles, safari only 15 minutes and no crowds to stand in prior to RD. All in all, I think we did great for our 1st time! MK tomorrow....will try for RD again...we shall see.

Thanks for the update. Glad the kids had a good time.Try to include the date in the title line so as this thread "ages", we will all be able to tell which time of the year it was referring to.

I'm going to move this to the trip report board.
