Here now. A few updates

We had the same issues with 2 of our tickets not being recognized at the FP machines in June. It was not an isolated problem on our trip. When we tried to get the fast pass cards that they give out for guests whose tickets aren't working properly, there was a huge line at the EE fastpass machine of people with the same problem.

We finally had to get the KTTK cards (with tickets attached) reprinted twice before they finally worked to get fastpasses.

She got double regular old fastpasses using both the paper AP and an RFID card that was linked with the AP. (Edit - oops, WillAustin beat me to it again)

Nope this erroneous! Our AP is on an RFID card that we exchanged for our old paper passes. Our KTTW cards are their own RFID card for entrance into our rooms and for charging purposes. They work in the regular fastpass distribution. The CMs are aware of it and are letting you know in case you want to use them. I hate criss crossing the park and we get to the park at ropedrop, so the only time we tested this was at the fastpass area for Pooh and Under the Sea since they are side by side.

This is exactly the issue that we are having. The message states that the card was not used for entry to the park even though it has been. We are not finding this to be isolated issue at all since we were four families deep into the issue at Rockin Roller Coaster yesterday and the CMs were VERY frustrated. I felt so bad for them.

. . . . Sorry if this has been asked a billion times, but will the current fastpass system be completely removed? If only 3 are allotted per day, that's going to change things!
The current FP *machines* will be removed, yes.
It will be limited to three reserved *in advance*. Though the details are still TBD, additional FP will be available same day, via kiosks, CMs with tablets, and via the smartphone app - subject to availability, of course.

I feel bad for OP, although she is not upset.

Reading about all these problems and wondering if they will be fixed by November is giving me headaches:headache::headache::headache:

:confused3

 You are very sweet and I hope all is well by then!

You and me both buzzbellemom. 1st trip at xmas time sounds like it is turning into a nightmare:scared1: Last family vacation for sometime and it is making me nervous. I'm watching the disboard like a hawk and hoping the new system doesn't completely roll out until 2014. Someone mentioned that a CM said most customers only use 2 FP a day, I would like to know where they got that information???????? As most of said, we use that in a 1/2 a day only. Think of all the rides just in MK that use FP, SM, buzz, pooh, peter, POTC, HM, SM, IASM and the BTM. That is a little more than 3 :surfweb::surfweb:

I would love to know where they got that number too! Unless they tracked the rooms of guests and then averaged it which seems really silly IMO.

So, basically, the tickets that are supposed to be used for fastpasses did not work in the fastpass machines, but the KTTW cards that did not have tickets on them, and should not be able to be used at fastpass machines, did work. :thumbsup2

shhhhh whispering "I think what could possibly be happening is everyones KTTW ticket will be able to pull fast passes, even if they dont apparently have ticket media associated with it.

Therefore, anyone staying on site right now can use their KTTW as a fast pass pull, and IF they have a seperate type of ticket media (magic band, ap, UT ticket, old paper ticket, maybe even old hotel key cards, or expired hotel key cards, who knows? Just dont apparently use the chuck E cheese card....) well then, enjoy the double dip.

The IT people will probably be able to tell us 'why' disney needed this type of insurance when they have started rolling out fp+ since June, because before that - I dont think it happened."

its a big secret that is not a secret anymore - god bless the disboarders who disclosed this, but also, fully expect this loophole to be closed as soon as the IT people can figure it out - or the need for insurance no longer exists.

Just what I think.
Edited to add: I suppose the reason the insurance is needed is because of the exact situation Tinkh describes!

Exactly! There were points where the AP cards did work, but only one would and the other would have an error. Also, for entry into the park they have had to come over with phones and scan them at points because the reader was giving them a message. Then, they make us go to guest services to get them updated again!!! We have done this three times already. The KTTW cards should NOT work because no tickets attached because we are AP holders, yet they do work at the fastpass machines from what we have experienced so far. It's very odd and we usually only take one KTTW card so that we have less to keep track of, but that is how we are solving the first part of the issue is bringing all of our KTTW cards and using those at the fastpass machines. One of the CMs told us to just use the KTTW cards and informed me that both are working separately at this point. Now that we are aware of all the bugs after three days of this, we know to just use our KTTW cards for our fastpasses and to be prepared to head back to guest services each morning or afternoon when we get to a park.

This is all so confusing to me! I just can't seem to get all the pieces together in my head... I guess I'm just going to have to try to be patient until our trip (january) gets closer. Maybe by then things will be a little more settle

Second, there are some major issues occurring with the RFD technology. When I went to upgrade our passes from paper to card, the a woman at City Hall tried to tell me that my issues were that I had linked our annual passes to my account 7 times each. After the third time she said this, I will admit that I was a bit short with telling her that I am not an idiot and that it is their system and I did NOT add my passes 7 times each.

I had the same problem on the new website. I showed multiples (7 each) of each of my family members. I finally contacted the IT dept and got a "lecture" how I must have done something" to get 7 multiples and it was my fault. I don't remember doing anything??? Either way they are the ones that built the site, they shouldn't be blaming users for the site's shortcomings. Anyway they did fix it, but it really bothered me that the IT guy I got was blaming me for their site's issue.

Ooooh, I see... I wonder if the problems are computer related (as opposed to something wrong with your cards and paper tickets themselves, especially with this "7 duplicates" weirdness)... :scratchin

Skynet is become self aware O_O

There's definitely no need to worry at this point. There are indications that for quite a while, you'll still be able to either choose between "old" FP and FP+, or perhaps even use both. I've heard that it might be well into 2014 before they remove the old fastpass machines and the "old system" of obtaining fastpasses, but I don't think anyone knows for sure.

But don't worry. So long as there are "issues" with the system and FP+, people will always be able to fall back on FP. They won't leave you high and dry with neither.

And especially during the transition to FP+, many people will not quite understand what it is or how to use it (just like happened with the original fastpass when it debuted). This means anyone who reads this forum will have a leg up on their FP+ competitors, and you'll better off than those who are lost.

No reason to panic (yet) ;)

Also, for off-site guests and other visitors from locally there are going to be kiosks where the old visa area was to schedule their fastpasses for the day. Really???? Have people seen the insanity that one ride at DHS brings in. We are now going to take all those guests and have them share these kiosks? I am trying to remain optimistic, but that does not sound good at all.

We go to the World twice a year, one on-site stay in a deluxe resort and one off-site at either SVR or WBC. If the above is true I'll have no issue with dropping our trips down to once a year and not renewing our AP.

FP+ is a major thorn in my side.

I'm not sure what you mean. I've heard reports that FP+ will be able to be scheduled in advance by AP holders - it's just not yet determined exactly how they'll do it or what the limitations will be.

The problems/issues being discussed in this thread actually have nothing to do with FP+, and FP+ has yet to even be fully implemented. Until it is, I don't think anyone can say what kind of issues it might cause for AP holders or off-site guests, since Disney hasn't laid out the details.

As I keep reading on FP+ to keep up with it for my upcoming trip (I want to know what to expect), many of my concerns runs are somewhat alleviated by insider knowledge. For many, it's the unknown and how to adjust when we might not have adequate time to adjust, which is partially Disney's fault for making everything a plan so far ahead or miss it event (prime restaurants, special events). The other issue is what we do know. Specifically, the horrible wifi at the parks, the constant crashing of the app, the freezing of the website, the loss of plans. These technical issues, which are being discussed here, are very closely related to FP+. If Disney can't work that, how do we *know* that it won't effect FP+. I get that MM+ is wayyyyy more than FP+, but that is the component that will affect most visitors.

So I am still confused. We are going in October and staying off site. Are my paper tickets OK or do I need to exchange them for a wrist band? What is the downside to me not exchanging or the benefit for me to exchange? I have been trying to keep up with all the info on the new system but so much out there I can't keep track.

as of right now ( July 30th) the old paper tickets work but there are limited turn styles to use them in so waits for those can back up quickly.
You can exchange your paper tickets for Rfid Card/ticket and therefor giving more choices on turn styles to use. Either type will work in fp machines as we currently know them.

Where is the best location to exchange the paper tickets? Can this be done at DTD or only at one of the parks?

Any Guest Relations, including the two at DTD, should be able to do this with ease. Any ticket window should also work fine.

How crazy is that??? So, the 7 must have happened to many of us. The family from HS said they were told the same amount attached too. Have you been here to use your tickets yet? I am wondering if you will have the same issues we had. Also, one woman at guest services yesterday told me that when they deactivated my husbands that it was showing as lost. Just a heads up if anyone else is told they have multiple lost cards when they don't.
