...the April edition of the Quedgeley News!
Not quite so funny this month, and I certainly wouldn't want to be disrespectful to our country's servicemen, but there are a couple of gems!
QUEDGELEY WINE CIRCLE
The speaker at our February meeting was no stranger to the members of the Wine Circle. Ray had been asked to talk about his experiences in the RAF during his 37 years of service. He started with a fun quiz to focus our minds on matters connected with flying. Fortunately it was only a fun thing as most of us turned out to be the weakest link. Still, he had gone to a lot of trouble with mystery items in plastic bags which had all been in use during the past few decades, items such as a heliograph to aid your rescuers in case you had to 'ditch' in the sea, various cords and straps to hold things together (including pyjama cord!), pictures and models of aircraft, and many other items.
We then had an interval to do the February wine judging, which this month was vegetable wine. The winner was June R with her marrow. Then Ray told us how he had joined the RAF and gave us an insight into how he had been instrumental in moving men and equipment from one place to another around the globe. He is a much travelled man and had many tales to tell of his experiences. So much so that we ran out of time before he was able to finish. All agreed that we would like to hear more in the near future.
Why not come and join us on the third Wednesday of every month, 7.30pm at Quedgeley Village Hall? If your knowledge of wine is sketchy and you do not make your own, it matters not. Most of us are in the same boat but enjoy learning from each other. Our next meetin is on 20th March when we will enjoy a visit from Ross, an ex-policeman of much experience who runs the Police Museum at Winchcombe.
Obviously the usual riot, then.
And the following snippet cracked me up!
We never expected that Quedgeley News would be involved in Cyber Piracy, but recently we found that someone has 'stolen' our name and registered it as theirs. We wish to put this right. Quedgeley News or Quedgeleynews.com has no connection with any organisation calling themselves or trading as Quedgeleynews.co.uk
Nothing to do with me - honestly!
