Helping with kid christmas ideas

DD5: Bitty Twins with some accessories; cash register, Zingo sight words, dress up outfit scored for $10, helmet, Doc McStuffins toy

DS3: tool bench, bike (from CL -- major score), puzzle, Operation game, Jake & Neverland Pirates accessories set from clearance, switch n' go dinos, Doc McStuffins toy, plastic shark toob I found at a store close-out (ATL airport aquarium store is closing so they are clearing out everything!)

I know they are getting some craft stuff, Octonauts stuff, and doll accessories from relatives. They are "giving" DH iPieces games for fishing and air hockey (you use with an app you download on an iPad). Wonder if he'll figure out it is more for them! :rotfl2:

I've also gotten for nieces and nephew: spa science kit; hexbug crab; ninjago set; mining gold set; calico critters stuff; dress-up things; games.

DS6 is getting: A red Ryder BB gun, a Razor Helmet to match the Razor Scooter he got for his birthday, a remote control shark, a Castle Play set I got last Summer for 75% off, sparing equipment for Karate and tickets to a Hockey Game and maybe one or two other events. I hide the toy catalogs and limit TV as I know he will want everything he sees and he plays with so few toys. He is an outside, keep up with the big boys type of kid!

My dd5 is getting an Ipod touch, a Princess Playdough set, and a couple of board games. An Itunes card too.
DD13 (14 in 2 weeks) has asked for a Sewing machine or a digital camera. She will probably also get a hoodie or a couple of shirts and a gift card.
DS17 wants things for his car. Virginia Tech car mats and a luggage rack. Probably will get him a gift card too.
DD23 recently got married and I told her she needs to give me a list of what she and new hubby would like. I have no idea if they want something for their new place, a combo gift or individual gifts.

He'll shoot his eye out! :rotfl2: Sorry; I couldn't resist.

:goodvibes..His grandma is going to freak, but he has a real bow and is amazing with it. We let him shoot at an outdoor show last week-end and the guy there was like WOW.....you got to get him something to shoot with. It's really the only thing he has asked for.

DD almost 2 is getting the little people castle, kitchen with food and shopping cart, clothes-she loves boots! She will also get books and way to much stuff from family!

We have a tradition on Christmas Eve that the kids get a pair of PJs and a Christmas ornament.

DD14 is getting a new cellphone and a years worth of minutes (we do pre-paid).
Itunes card
Wreck Me Journal
funky duck tape and project book
Ski boot bag and ski pants
curling wand for her hair
SIMS seasons game
Katy Perry perfume

possibly a BB gun (and protective eyewear ;))
a couple lego sets (Star wars and Minecraft)
Yankee hat
graphic T's
fuzzy blanket
Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction book and the supplies needed
Mario Bros 2 3DS game

DS9
Ipod touch an Itunes card
possibly a BB gun
a couple lego sets (Ninjago and Minecraft)
Loopz game
Patriots jersey & hat
Mets jersey
Mets fuzzy blanket
Madden Xbox game

I also get a "family" gift which is usually a board game and a video game we all can play together.

Last year we stopped with the "gifts" and gave the kids a trip to disneyworld instead. We made it a scavenger hunt that morning with clues to what they were getting, the clues were wrapped. So the morning was still special. Instead of getting things they forget about, break or lose. We used the money for a vacation instead. This year we are doing the same thing only going to disneyland instead. And the morning scavenger hunt will be on a much smaller scale as last year was really a giant kick off to the whole idea. Our kids are 17-4

HERE IS WHERE I POSTED ABOUT WHAT I GAVE THE KIDS....READ THE LAST POST OR 2 TO SEE EXACT DETAILS I ENDED UP WITH

DD6: Nintendo DS (she played with a friends's), XBox and Dance Central 3 (she played with a friend's-- luckily my parents are taking care of this one!), Furby, Princess Barbie, Barbie Clothes, Tinker Bell playset, Tinker Bell books, and a really big pink gem (?). She also wants the real Silvermist. Not sure how I am going to do the last two.

I can't help with the real Silvermist, but I can with the pink gem:

It's a little girl thing. :) DD12 has a big ole red one she got somewhere when she was about the same age.

Okay, momma of 2 little girls here has found nothing but a bunch of little boys on her list :confused3. I need ideas for a 3.5 y/o boy, a 4.5 y/o boy, and a 7 y/o boy. Problem is, I am trying to stay around $10 each but not have it be totally lame.

nerf gun, basketball, football, soccer ball, board games

One of my boys LOVES those gems that are paperweights - has them in blue, green, red and clear. LOVES them. Found some on eBay and a couple at Walgreens. Never paid more than 7 dollars. They are just clutter to me, but they are such prizes to him. (Yes, he knows they are just glass.) They make-believe play all sorts of things with them. Great present for kiddos.

We've also seen them at Michaels. Maybe not pink...can't remember. My DS was definitely interested in them, too.

Here for DS2 it's anything and everything Jake & the Neverland Pirates (yes, he thinks he's a pirate 1/2 the time :rotfl2:). Also got him Toy Story Geo trax set (our family is BIG into trains thanks to Papa), and Buzz Lightyear! (Woody came frmo Disney World and he needs some friends according to DD), a fisher price tool stand

DD4 is getting some squinkies, talking Jesse doll (Toy Story), Minnie Mouse vet set from Disney Store, Lalaloopsy toys and little doll, Dream Lite, some Leap Pad games, and some princess barbies dolls/clothes

I'm stuck on ideas for my nephew who's 11 so i'll be watching for boy ideas on there. This is a great thread!

I'm loving this thread too because although I have ds's big gift and the Skylanders Giants, I wasn't sure about anything else. I think he would LOVE the root beer making kit!! I am going to order it from Amazon too. So thanks!:)

Great thread....but I have to say...wow...am I the only one shocked by how much some people spend at Christmas?!?! It seems some...hundreds of dollars...on one kid?!?

I am not shocked by people who spend more than me, nor am I shocked by people that spend less. It's like anything else in life.. up to individual budgets, preferences and choices.

Yes, my kids (3 and 6) don't watch TV so they don't see the ads, and so the only things they seem to want are what other kids have told them about. I sat both kids down with the Toys R Us catalogue and asked them if anything looked interesting. From that, I got the following lists:

DD6: Nintendo DS (she played with a friends's), XBox and Dance Central 3 (she played with a friend's-- luckily my parents are taking care of this one!), Furby, Princess Barbie, Barbie Clothes, Tinker Bell playset, Tinker Bell books, and a really big pink gem (?). She also wants the real Silvermist. Not sure how I am going to do the last two.

DD3: Doc McStuffins, Barbie guitar, Kidz Bop Microphone, and Leap Pad

I hope they do not add things as the weeks go on, but I know they will!

For the pink gem I know Hobby Lobby has large (bigger than a fist) diamond like gems and I know they have pink ones. I bet you could find something similar at other craft stores.

As for Silvermist I would have "her" leave your DD a letter explaining that she cant come live with her even though she would really love to and leave a "magic" fairy token of some kind.

DD6 is getting from mom and dad: Just Dance Disney addition, Sketchers Twinkle Toes, pjs and an outfit. From Santa: Junie B Jones books, a make your own jewelry box kit (already have those) and planning on Brave barbie, Brave DS game, tea set, and maybe a few other Black Friday cheapies.

She's getting an American Girl Doll from my gma so that will trump anything else she gets.

DSSs I have no idea at this point. DD will likely get the younger one the Rootbeer making kit that we saw at Bass Pro Shop. That boy loves him some Rootbeer!
