Helpful Information For You Updated 03/30/2012

Thanks for all of the great information!!! I was wondering about La Quinta Inn in Cocoa Beach. Is it a nice hotel for the night before a cruise? Is it safe to leave a car there while on a cruise? Just wanted an insiders view! Thanks!!

One of the great parts of LaQuinta is that Judy Hutchinson is there and she is so good with her guests. If you have any questions, any problems etc, all you have to do is ask for her at the front desk. LaQuinta has a Denny and a Sushi Bar on each side - Denny's is a very long wait - Norm and I have tried going there a few times and each time was a disappointment but maybe it was just time of day, lack of servers etc. The sushi bar is excellent - love going there for the service and presentation is excellent. Holiday Inn is right across the street to which you can access the beach. You are maybe less than 6 or so miles from the port. LQ is an ok place to stay before your cruise.
Here is the info

Ok we now have more information on LaQuinta Inn. I just found out that a dear friend of mine is now working there and has given me this information especially for all of those that that written or called me for answers.

La Quinta now offers upscale Continental breakfast buffet which includes waffles, eggs, sausages, bacon, muffins and fruits and this is included with your room.
They offer shuttle service for $4.00 per person one way and they also have park and cruise and includes the shuttle service also.
If you have any problems or questions, you can contact Judy Hutcherson at 321-783-2252 Ext. 603 or you can email her at lq0622dos@laquinta.com

Thanks so much Shirley for keeping this list so up to date. It has been a great source of information for me, as we are planning on arriving early and spend a couple of days in the area before we board the "Magic" in early Feb.

As well, I contacted Joe at the Radisson, which is where we are staying. I had a few requests and many questions in regards to our stay and was extremely happy with Joe's response and over the top help. What a great person, excellent customer service and we haven't even got there yet.

As I have mentioned many times, Joe is the one that stepped up to the plate when I found myself with 4 families at the shop, stranded and a hurricane was just hours away - he is the one that found a safe zone for them in Orlando, Avis lent the cars - I was very blessed then and I am today simply due to the fact folks just stepped up and helped me help families that needed it and I couldn't have done it without either of them.

I really believe if the Radisson was a dump, I would stay there, but it isn't and you have an awesome GM as he is.

Anyhow I am off my soapbox and before I leave, the shop NOR I have any relationship with the hotel and that is the honest truth. We very seldom deliver flowers or gift baskets there so now you know, the shop has the interest of folks first and not the business.
Always

Many thanks to Shirley for the wealth of information here!!
We are going on our 1st Disney cruise in March and have booked 1 night pre-cruise at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront in Cocoa Beach.
Does anyone have any feedback on this hotel? I have been reading some very mixed reviews about the cleanliness and condition of the rooms that have me a bit worried, especially as we are travelling with two little ones.
Thanks!

:wave2: Girlfriend...Hope everything is well.
I was checking out the Florida forecast, and thought of you guys. Stay warm honey. :grouphug:

BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

Florida froze over this morning or at least the backyard of the shop was - we woke up to 35 degree but it has really warmed up although tonight it is suppose to get colder - good part about it all is that the cold weather isn't forever :cheer2:

Thanks mommasita - I can only imagine what you woke up to this morning :sad2:
STAY WARM
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND MAY WE ALL BE ABLE TO SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL AND IT NOT BE TRAIN LIGHTS :rotfl2:

The Holiday Inn isn't bad honest - you can always for Leslie who is the GM and she will be MORE than happy to accomadate any concerns etc you may have.

She is very good with her guest and to tell you the truth I would stay there without a problem - you are right on the ocean and remember the hotels are checked very often by the health inspectors and I can tell you, they won't allow anything to slip by.

My son Michael stayed there a few weeks ago with his daughter and he says it was ok -

If you call the hotel, again ask to speak to Leslie and I know she will put your mind at ease.

We are staying at the Radisson, is there a place that will deliver pizza? We are getting in later than I would like and will be using a car service from MCO so we will not have a car.

I believe Kelseys Pizza is right next to the Radisson. I dont think they deliver but if I recall correctly you should be able to walk to it from the Radisson? This is a link to their site. We usually have a car and stay further down the road but love eating there before the big cruise!

Thanks for posting this site!!! I was wondering where we could eat the afternoon before our cruise, AND they have great prices!

Are you talking the day OF the cruise or the day before... because if it is the day OF... they feed you lunch on the ship.

Yeah, I meant to say "the night before our cruise", because we're driving to Port Canaveral & spending the night before the cruise. I was thinking of where we could eat dinner that night at a good price!

Just wanted to make sure... wouldn't want you to miss out on lunch... :)

Yes, we ordered from Kelseys when we stayed at the Radisson in Dec. 2007. The food was GOOD! And it was quite convenient.
The only problem was that the Kelsey's that we ordered the food from was NOT the one right next to the Radisson. By accident I called the one in Titusville. So, when we walked over to pick it up, they naturally did not have it ready. But, they accommodated us the best they could (it was PACKED!) and got it ready as quickly as possible.

What part of Merritt Island did you live if I may ask?
My children grew up in MI when it was safe to ride their horses all the way from North State road 3 to Catalina Isles. We also had Sally who was a shetland pony and the mascot from Merritt Island High for years - the kids would put her in MY car and drive her to the house where she would spend the weekend getting pretty for the football games. It wasn't unusual to have Sally push open one of the doors and find herself to my side of the bed and I would wake up looking into these huge eyes saying ''FEED ME''.
I was very involved with the kids and also a senior citizen home located right off North Courtenay - I would round up what seemed like 50 kids or so at Christmas and took them around to do Christmas caroling - good thing we weren't held for our "singing voices", but the kids loved it and everyone else.
My home was always opened to those in need or just needed a safe zone and my heart was always looking for ways to help the seniors have a better way of life.
Life wasn't simple but it opened my eyes even wider as to what the world was about and the same amount that couldn't be helped didn't outweigh those that were so special and so blessed with experience of age.
Blessings always

If you are arriving in Canaveral / Cocoa Beach the night before, and renting a car, consider La Quinta in Cocoa Beach. Shirley recommended it on one of her posts, and we reserved there. With a AAA discount, we got a very nice room for $62.50, which included a breakfast buffet. The room was nice and spacious, had a sink separate from the room the toilet was in, a tub with shower, and a queen sized bed. It also had a microwave and small fridge. The hotel seemed older, but had clearly been extensively renovated. It was clean and fresh, but with small signs of wear around the corners, as in the grouting around the bathtub. The breakfast was plain, but good, with eggs, waffles, toast, cold cereal, and juices, plus coffee and tea.

It's about 6 miles from the port, and doesn't run a shuttle (that I know of), but if you're renting a car to get from MCO, that really makes no difference. Considering how excited we were on The Morning, we got up at a leisurely pace, had breakfast, repacked our suitcases, loaded the car, and were on the road by 9:15, at the car rental return by 9:30, and at the port by 10. We were one of the first to arrive, so it all worked like clockwork. As for food, we went to a local supermarket and bought cold cuts, grape tomatoes, and fruit and picnicked, which was easy, inexpensive, and satisfying. We even had a nice bottle of wine that we bought at Publix (supermarket). Total cost for the two of us: $62.50 for the room, $30 for supper, including wine. :thumbsup2

Hope this helps,
