Bumping up, this was falling too far back in the pages.

Sure wish this was made a Sticky.

I noticed that National has a location listed in Cocoa Beach. Do they have a shuttle to take you to the port? Is it close enough that you could drop everyone off at the DCL terminal, return the car and then be back at the port in a reasonable time.

Good morning all,
Sorry I have been so neglectful and not posted very much - anyhow I wanted to do an update -
Burger King that is going to be located right in front of the Residence Inn will be ready to open in less than a month.

Milligan Seafood and Grille at Port Canaveral and will be sitting right at the point across from the terminals is shooting to open sometime next month - looks like they will be giving Rusty's, Fishlips and Grill's a run for their money.
Beautiful decor and outside seating with entertainment. The owners are the same one that own Sunset Cafe on Highway 520 which overlooks the river.
As new stuff happens, will let you know. Meanwhile DO NOT FORGOT TO ORDER YOUR GIFT BASKETS FOR YOUR CRUISE ;-)
always

UPDATE 06/09/08
As I find places that I really feel you need to know about that are not only honest and reliable, I share it with you.
Norm really has been having some problems with back pains etc (old age stuff) and he has tried a number of massage places and this one that I am putting on the board as a recommendation is excellent so if you feel you need some tired and achy bones worked on, give John a call. ENJOY!!!!

YOU ARE STRESSED, TIRED, ACHY, NEED A MASSAGE AND DON'T KNOW WHO? GOT THE BEST YET

Give John Kyllo a call at 321-613-2943 - he is located right here in Cape Canaveral and yes HE knows his job
www.cocoabeachspa.com
I love the decor and his office is spiffy clean and right off A1A at 117 Barlow Avenue
He is right across the street from Dunkin Donuts.
Yep we tried John before we put our recommendations out and he is not aware I have done this which most folks don't unless they offer a discount. I do know the cost starts at $40.00 on up which is great

Here is something to look forwarded to if you are sailing this winter and have time to spare.
Cocoa Village is going to build a pretty good size ice skating rink for those that want to try their skills. It will be opened sometime the first part of November until the first week of January. I have always admired those that could ice skate and always wanted to try it, but I believe now at this age, I will go watch the younger ones show their talents - as I learn more about it, will make an update to give you all the information you will need ok?
As always

I was wondering which of the restaurants you recommend have both good seafood & good steak, if any? DH doesn't like seafood, I love it. We'll be there for Friday afternoon & night & I want some! Thanks, as always, for your help.

The best place that Norm and I have found for both is 2 places -
Florida Seafood which is on HWY 520 in Cocoa Beach
and Red Lobster in Merritt Island (I LOVE THEIR BAHAMA MAMA DRINKS ;-)

If you want to stay close to "home" give Florida Seafood a try.
If you have the need to be over the water or close to the water, Grill's is the most favorite, but I enjoy the steaks and seafood at FSF better.
Let me know which you pick and what you thought of it.
I always hate to give recommendations due to the fact, taste are so different, but heck you can not go wrong with either one.
Hugsssssssss

just wondering if you know of anyone that rents out condo/beach home for 1-2 nights prior to cruise. we would rather that than hotel. Thank you as always!!!:goodvibes

I really don't know and the one that I did know have taken their cost up to over $500.00 a day plus a high security fee.

The place is very pretty and close to the ocean, but the fee, I feel, is super high, but I will ask around and see if I can find something that you might enjoy.
What we are running into now is that places must be rented for no less than 3 months since the condos/beach homes are in residential areas and there have been a number of complaints from permament residence.
Anyhow will let you know what I find out.

Here is something you may be interested in and also fun - Ralph Kramden alWAYS promised he was going to send Alice to the moon in the TV sitcom of the Honeymooners but how about sending your name to the moon? Wouldn't that be something to tell the kids about for many years to come?
A Robotic probe will be stamped with a microchip which will be installed on a lunar spacecraft that will explore the moon for years to come. There is already 830,000 names so far and NASA's goal is one million. the launch is due to go no earlier than November 24th.
It cost nothing to type in a name at http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/LRO/main/index.html

Folks will have the option of printing out a personalized certificate.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, thank you Shirley,

As a Science geek, that was so cool!!!!!!:)

UPDATE 06/19/2008
I have decided to take Checker Cab of Brevard off my recommendation list due to several serious complaints that were relayed to me. I did speak to Robert and he told me at that time it was the customer's fault and having recommended him for such a long time, decided to let it go, but then there was another letdown that was handled very poorly so I decided that our guest here need to know upfront what is going on and hold the right person responsible so if you do decide to use them, please know it is your decision OK?
I know there have been a couple of times I knew that I was right in working with my customer, but in order to make the customer comfortable, I accepted responsibility since it could not be proven different.
I am one that steps right up to the plate even though I know the truth in my heart.

Again this is my own thoughts and my own feelings (kinda like a disclaimer I guess) but if I find another company that I am completely comfortable with,
will make sure to let you know.

UPDATE 06/20/08

Cocoa beach Shuttle 321-631-4144 or 888-784-4144- website is www.cbshuttle.com/ Owners are Ron and Lisa who are a super couple and this is a mom and pop business with a heart.
12/18/2007 - I have just spoke to Ron and they will be offering a 10% discount BUT YOU MUST MENTION THIS BOARD FOR THE DISCOUNT (also let me suggest, if you receive great service, don't forget to tip your driver, but this is your choice. This discount starts tomorrow on the 19 of December 2007.
PS - They also offer private vans for anyone who wishes private transportation and yes the 10% does count on this also.

UPDATE 06/20/2008

It has come to my attention that I have somehow mislead folks on Cocoa Beach Shuttle as to their capacity compared to Travelink and I really want to clarify my error especially because of the highest respect that I have for CBS and the folks that own and run it.

Cocoa Beach Shuttle operates 17 vans. This consists of 7, 10 and 14 passenger size vans.

They also have 9 Buses, from thier smaller 23 and 29 passenger mini buses up to their 57 passenger Luxury Coaches appointed with leather seating and drop down 22 inch LCD TV Monitors. All of their drivers are uniformed and are radio dispatched 24/7.

They make sure every cruise ship has a “Uniformed Greeter” with a yellow “Cocoa Beach Shuttle” sign to help direct their passengers.

My sincerely apology in my error.
Sincerely
Shirley

Shirley, do you know if there is any place other than the port to park your car and use a shuttle service? We are staying at WDW the night before our cruise and driving to the port. We would love not to have to pay $15 a day parking!

As always, thank you for all of your valuable information.

Good morning,
Unfortunately there is no where that anyone can park their cars while on a cruise except the hotels and you do have to spend at least one night in order to do that - Sorry
