Here's my problem, we will be in WDW for 14 days during hurricane season and I am trying to decide how many days to purchase the base ticket for. We want to have at least 1 day at each of the parks and may want to return to 2 or 3. My concern is the weather, I simply cannot afford the non expiring tickets and know we will not be hopping from park to park. In mid to late August how many days should I expect to have rained out?
Hope someone can help, thanks.

Hi,

If by "rained out" you mean the parks will be closed, the odds are that they will not be. Remember, 2004 was a fluke, an aberration, that so many hurricanes had an impact on Central Florida.

Prior to 2004, WDW had been open for 33 years, and in that time frame the parks were closed ONLY ONE DAY because of the threat of a hurricane.
So clearly the odds are on your side.

Now, if you mean will it rain in August, yes it will, almost every day for a little while. But the parks stay open through the rain and people go on having a great time.

Yes, forecasts are calling for an active hurricane season (and it has been already) but that does not mean that hurricanes are heading for Orlando.

Have fun!

If I'm not mistaken the more days you have the cheaper it is to add an additional day....if you are there for 14 days...I'd make my ticket at least 10days...the difference in price between 7 days and 10 days is $11 for 3 additional days...that way if you do get rained out after being in the park a while you can go back another day without thinking about it...

I would say get a 10 day pass at least, the way the passes are set up now its only 2 or 3 more dollars a day for each person. Even if you only go to the park 9 days of the ten, you would have wasted only a few dollars. As far as beyond 10 days, I am not sure what Disney offers. I guess you may need to buy a 10 day pass plus however many days you would want on top of that, however you may be charged more per day for just the few days than for the 10 day pass. But I'm not sure about that.

Looks like I will be getting the 10 day passes. Has anyone ever had them sent to their hotel? Any problems with this?
