Anyone know how to transfer movies from the camcorder onto vhs tapes? Our camcorder uses an 8 milimeter tape, a casseste tape but fatter. Thanks. pirate:

If your camcorder has standard RCA jacks (usually white for audio and yellow for video), you should be able to run a cable from your camcorder to the VCR. Set the VCR to the "Line In" inputs. Hit PLAY on the camcorder and RECORD on the VCR, and you're in business.

Thanks we tried it but we only recorded what was on the televison, not the camcorder. We are trying again. Thanks though. *crosses fingers* I hope this works.

You may need to switch inputs on your tv to do it. My 8mm plugs into an rca jack on the tv, i tune the tv to "AUX" input where I can see the camcorder play on the tv, then press record on the vcr.

Also our cords are black and red, and camcorder is a sony year about 94 or earlier. We still have no luck...it just tapes what is on the tv.

Some of the early Sony camcorders actually were able to put out an RF signal so you may have that, but you say you have two cords? One black and one red? Is that one cord with two connectors on each end?

You need to explain exactly what kind of socket is on the camcorder and what kind of ends are on the cable you have, and then we can probably help.

Are you familiar with the following: Audio type connector, RCA connector, RF connector.

You need to know if your camcorder is putting out a video/audio signal or an RF signal. Then you need to hook it to the appropriate input on the VCR. Then you need to set the VCR to record from the appropriate source.

You're not hooking your camcorder to the TV are you? That's incorrect if you are. It needs to hook directly to the VCR.

Post back or PM and we can help you more.

Anyone know what input selector to the line mode means? It's in our instructions that comes with the camcorder. This is where we are stuck.

A VCR will typically allow you to draw the source content from either a coaxial input (your TV signal from cable or satellite) or from the RCA jacks, which is what you are trying to accomplish. Right now, your VCR is set to draw the source from the coax. You need to switch it to the RCA.
That's what it means by changing the "input selector." Forget the camcorder for the moment--the issue is most likely with your VCR.

A couple things to try:

Try changing the TV channel on your VCR to channel 00.

Look at your VCR remote and see if it has a button labeled something like "Video Source" or "Input".

:bounce: :Pinkbounc Thanks everyone!!!! We finally got it to work!! You all helped out so much. Thanks so much! Hugs to everyone. :D :teeth:

You need to set your VCR to select the RCA inputs as the source it is recording instead of the standard coaxial cable. How th do this varies on different VCR's. On the VCR remote control there may be a button labelled 'source' or 'input'.

On many VCRs the line inpouts are selected by changing channels below the normal channel range. For example if your VCR is on Channel 03, press the channel down button. Your channels will go 03, 02, 01, then where you would expect channel 00 you will get something like LINE or L1.

Good Luck.
