Some of the early Sony camcorders actually were able to put out an RF signal so you may have that, but you say you have two cords? One black and one red? Is that one cord with two connectors on each end?
You need to explain exactly what kind of socket is on the camcorder and what kind of ends are on the cable you have, and then we can probably help.
Are you familiar with the following: Audio type connector, RCA connector, RF connector.
You need to know if your camcorder is putting out a video/audio signal or an RF signal. Then you need to hook it to the appropriate input on the VCR. Then you need to set the VCR to record from the appropriate source.
You're not hooking your camcorder to the TV are you? That's incorrect if you are. It needs to hook directly to the VCR.
Post back or PM and we can help you more.
