I am headed to Disney in EXACTLY 2 weeks!! YAY!!! Anywho, I only wear skirts. So my question is...Are there any rides that I may have trouble with? As in the ride harnesses, I know the majority of the rides you just sit and theres a lap bar but are there any that come between your legs? I've been to Disney before but I don't remember. This is not my first rodeo with skirts at amusement parks, I can usually manage whatever the situation, I just don't like going in blind. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

The only one that comes to my mind of going between your legs is at soarin, and thats only if you are kid sized. Even that wouldn't be a problem with a knee length skirt, only a floor length.

I work on a ranch and only wear jeans at work. However, when I go on vacation, (every year we go to WDW at least once) I wear skirts every day. I have never had a problem. And on vacation is the ONLY time I wear them. Good luck! You won't have any problem. Make sure you take those comfy shoes though, because your doggies will be a killin' without them!

Have a wonderful trip!

Hmmm, I have to say that in the few years I've been visting here, this is one of the oddest posts. Is it a medical necessity you wear skirts only, or a fashion choice? I The most obvious solution to your problem is to just suck it up and wear either jeans or shorts (my advice). However, you mention you've been to "amusement parks" before, so my guess is you already know how to deal with whatever it is WDW will throw at you. I must tell you though I think of WDW -- as do most others here -- as far, far more than an amusement park. Yep, an odd post, to be sure.

I wore dresses/skirts (knee-length) about half the time when we were at WDW last year and never had a problem!

I'm actually glad you asked as I had planned on wearing sundresses a few of the days while we are there :) Just because it's Disney World doesn't mean I need to compromise on fashion lol

The bar on Space Mtn. does come up between your legs. Depends on what type (length/fullness) if it would be an issue.

I wear short-ish tennis skorts (attached spandex shorts underneath) most days at Disney, so I have never really had any issues with rides. There are several that you have to climb into/out of that if I was wearing a skirt without something underneath I would have felt uncomfortable. Of course if I wore long, flowy skirts I wouldn't be concerned.

My daughter and I wear shirts, sundresses, or skorts almost every day we are at WDW. No issues. Space mountain is not an issue.

We wear them because we find them comfy and fashionable. We wear capris or jeans in the evening if it is chilly.

Going do WDW does not mean you have to be a fashion mess. You can look cute and travel at the same time.

Thank You for the tip on Soarin' I googled pictures of the ride harness as I have never had the chance to ride, my hubby did. I think that will have ot be a knee length skirt day.

Thanks for the advice!! I'm pretty sure that I can manage Space Mountian, I've googled pictures of the ride and I think it will be okay!! :)

Glad that I asked then!! :)

Well I guess I'm sorry that my post seems odd. I wear skirts as a personal choice and I feel very comfortable in them. I do not like jeans or pants and I wear them only if I'm working and skirts are completely inappropriate.

I agree that WDW is WAY more than an amusement park, theres certianly not denying that!! It's a VERY magical place that I am not able to visit often and being such I want my vacation to VERY magical and not marred by the fact that I have to sit out of an attraction because I didn't research enough or prepare for a situation in advance and I'm very sorry that seems odd to you. :) Hope that clears some of the oddness up for you!

For real? How is someone elses choice in what to wear any of your business? Lots of women only wear skirts for religious reasons, personal comfort, or just plain personal choice, shame on you for judging someone like this! And to tell someone to "suck it up" and put on clothes YOU think are proper touring clothes if they choose to dress differently, words can not describe how rude that is.

Repost that comment if someones asking to tour the parks in the nude, until then if you don't have anything helpful to say with regards to the actual question at hand don't say anything at all.

OP you'll be fine in a skirt, I may wear a skirt all week too. We can be "odd" and confusing together.

Hi OP,

I usually wear skirts or dresses at the parks and the only ride which was somewhat challenging to make a graceful exit was Space Mountain.

The seat is low to the ground, such that your legs are extended at a 90 degree angle (almost like sitting on the ground).

Subsequent to the ride, if you use the good old trick of holding your handbag in front of you as you stand up, you will be fine.

I hope you have a lovely vacation! :earsgirl:

I know, I thought the same thing. I wouldn't be caught dead in shorts! For me, they are children's wear and I have yet to find an adult who they look good on. I'm a dress and skirt wearing mama, too and proud of it!

I have to say though, what I found the most offensive was the assumption that it wasn't a religious choice. There are many faiths that mandate skirts/dresses and I just assumed it was that.

I thought the same thing when I read the first post. I never question a choice in clothing unless it is inappropriate. I just assumed it was religious, but my mom wears skirts a lot on vacation, and I never think twice about it. I do see people in shorts all the time that look nice in them though. I understand it is not a preference for you, and I am not someone who claims to look good in them, but even though I don't wear them much at home, I do wear them at WDW. I feel like I am dressed like an adult too. I've never heard them called children's wear. My kids wear skirts, but I wouldn't ever think to say that skirts are children's wear. To each their own I guess. I don't want to start anything, I just was taken aback a bit at that b/c I have never heard shorts labeled as children's clothing.
