This will be our first time at Disney with the family. DH, DS-12, DD-8, DD-5, and myself. I am up for any suggestions on how we should tackle the parks and on which days. We will be ther June 13th arriving around 3:00 in the afternoon. Departing Sat. the 21st. We are staying at the POR. I have been researching the parks and hours of operation but am feeling a little overwhelmed:rolleyes: I would greatly appreciate any advice .:)

As a first timer and an onsite Disney resort guest, I would look at corresponding some of your days with Early Entry. Early Entry allows onsite guests to enter the park one hour early. This would be great since you have kids. Another thing that you might want to look into is the E-ride nights. If your 5 year old is tall enough, it allows you to hit the big rides in the Magic Kingdom without too many guest there as it is also limited to onsite guests. After that, fill in with where maybe some of the others in your family would like to go. It will be great and easy. Enjoy your trip and welcome to the boards.

another thing to work your days around is hard to get PS's. Cindi's breakfast at MK is one. The hoop dee doo revue is great fun and one of our must do's. Its a fun boat ride from MK, but also a great dinner after one of the water parks since you dont need park admission to do it.

i would spread out your visits to the magic kingdom. Itll be your most hectic day. mgm and animal kingdom are not to distant seconds. so you mihgt want to plan your days like this....MK, then Epcot (slower day, especially if you do ws first), then mgm, then a water park, then AK. definately dont do mk on the first day after a red eye flight.

We always split the day in between two parks. We do the EE park (early entry), leave there around noon. Go back to your resort, swim have a quick lunch, nap - then head to another park around 4pm.

Unfortunately the parades are hard to do if you follow the above suggestions. You may want to sleep in one morning, head over to a monorail resort for the last seating of a character breakfast, then go into the MK around noon. Sure it will be crowded, but your little ones will love seeing at least one parade.

Enjoy your stay.

disney ready,

You're in for a great vacation! If you guys get up early, then early entry is the way to go, since you can experience a number of attractions before the park gets crowded. The summer crowds will be building in mid June. What I like to do is go to the early entry park, use FASTPASS when it gets crowded, then leave after lunch to rest or swim at the hotel, and return to another park for late afternoon and evening. If you don't get up early, go to a non early entry park and use FASTPASS for the popular attractions. Try to fit in one or more character meals; it's a great way to get character autographs. You can easily walk several miles or more per day in each park. When someone gets tired or hungry or too hot, it's time to take a break! Finally, it's good to have a plan while in the parks, so everyone doesn't argue about what to do next. So I recommend one of the touring plan guidebooks (like the one I wrote! see below).

Steven Barrett, author of the "Hassle-Free Walt Disney World Vacation" and the new "Hidden Mickeys of Walt Disney World" book

According to the Unofficial Guide to WDW the best days for summer months at least are:

MK: Sunday and Friday (Avoid Saturdays all year)
AK: Monday, Tuesday and Sunday
MGM: Monday and Friday
Epcot: Saturday and Sunday

I too try to plan my park visits around PS for dinners, and I also split up the day between two parks. One in the morning, break for the pool, then dinner and another park in the evening. Have fun planning!
